Abandoned in the mountains, I was adopted by a lizard ~I mastered magic and surpassed my parents, but I didn't know they were legendary ancient dragons~ - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 The best meal
When I realized it, I had been abandoned in the mountains.
I didn’t know the reason.
If I had to guess, it might have been because my parents were in a bad mood yesterday. My memory is not very clear, but I remember words like “black hair,” “mountain god,” and “sacrifice” being frequently mentioned during their argument. I don’t really know what any of those words mean.
What I do know is that I am in a dense, wooded mountain. And, if I do nothing, I will most likely die.
That said, there wasn’t much I could do, unable to move my body properly. All I could do was wait, hoping for the situation to change.
A huge creature appeared. It looked like an enlarged lizard with wings, but there was a certain undeniable majesty about it.
I instinctively felt that if this large creature was an enemy, I would die, and if it was an ally, I would surely be saved.
The large creature observed me for a while, trembling slightly. Was I really that unusual?
While I was pondering this… suddenly, the large creature raised its claw. It seemed to be an enemy. So, that’s it. My life is over.
I braced myself for death.
But—the claw never came down.
On the contrary, the large creature lowered its forepaw and its expression softened slightly. I had no idea what was happening.
As I was bewildered, the large creature cast a spell on me. I felt my body lift off the ground.
The large creature turned around and began to move deeper into the mountains. Thanks to the spell, I floated along, following it.

After a while, the large creature and I arrived at a cave. Inside, there were piles of gold coins and jewels.
I was released from the spell and laid down on top of a pile of gold coins. Surely, this wasn’t meant to be a bed. It was hard and uncomfortable.
While I was thinking this, my stomach growled loudly. It must have been because the tension had eased after realizing the large creature was friendly. I suddenly remembered the hunger I had forgotten.
But I couldn’t eat gold coins. And definitely not jewels.
I needed to find a way to signal my hunger to the large creature. At home, I used to just cry and food would be provided… but would this large creature understand that as a sign of hunger?
As I was pondering this…
“Are you hungry?” the large creature muttered to itself.
It sounded like a language, but I couldn’t understand what it was saying.
“I guess… that’s right, human babies need something called ‘breast milk’ for sustenance.”
Even though I couldn’t understand a single word, from the gestures of the large creature, I sensed that he? she? had remembered something.
Suddenly, the large creature emitted light from its entire body.
In the next moment, it transformed into the appearance of a human around twenty years old.
“Quite young. Actual age and transformation,” muttered the large creature to itself in a mysterious language even in its human form.
“…Oops. Can’t understand Dragon Tongue, huh. Eventually, I’ll teach you… but for now, let’s speak in the Common Tongue of the continent,” it thought.
As if sensing my suspicion from my expression, the former large creature abruptly began speaking to me in a language I could understand.
It seemed the previous language was something called “Dragon Tongue.”
“Hey, Hadar, here’s some food.”
Saying so, the former large creature tried to offer me breast milk.
…Can I really stay safe drinking breast milk from such an unfamiliar creature?
Despite my doubts, hunger won out.
I took a sip of the creature’s breast milk.
…And then.
“What is this!? Ahh!”
Right after drinking, a strong discomfort surged through my body.
My whole body felt unnaturally hot.
Perhaps it didn’t mean harm, but apparently, breast milk from the large creature was poisonous to humans.
For a moment, I prepared myself for death… but the heat in my body subsided within a minute.
And now, a surge of power coursed through my entire body.
It was an unprecedented feeling of strength, as if I could do anything in my current state.
“Ogya, power… Ogya! Power is welling up!”
I decided to try standing up and taking a few steps.
Normally, I could only toddle, but now I could even run. Moreover, I was moving at a speed that rapidly changed the surrounding scenery.
I didn’t gain so much momentum that I couldn’t stop, though. I managed to decelerate and come to a stop right in front of a tree outside the cave, showing excellent agility.
Feeling adventurous, I lightly punched a tree about 40 centimeters in diameter in front of me. I had a feeling I could break this tree given my current state, so I wanted to try it out.
As expected, the tree made cracking noises and fell down where I punched it.
The breast milk from the large creature is amazing.
“Seriously… human babies are quite spirited.”
Before I knew it, the large creature was still beside me in human form, patting my head.
