A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 4- Childhood friend

Kasuragi Sato is a seventeen-year-old teenager who does not have many people whom he can call his friend. However, he has many acquaintances in school.

Due to his helpful nature and approachable aura, he could socialize with people quite well.

Everyone liked Sato because he spread positivity around him and because of his above-average looks, he has received many confessions in the past. However, he never accepted any of them, because he already had someone in his heart.

His childhood friend, Yuna.

Yuna and Sato have been together since that age when collecting bottle caps used to be fun and the best pass time during summer is to collect different insects only to release them later.

Their parents were good friends and Sato had always been closest to Yuna since childhood. Their parents even teased them often, that one day Sato would bring Yuna to his home, but not as his friend.

And Sato also had the intention that once they turned eighteen and enrolled in a good University he would finally confess his feelings to her.

He has dreamt many days about how they would go on dates, hold hands and once the point of separation would arise…he would…

But those dreams shattered and his hopes faded when suddenly a bastard came between them.

The delinquent and the playboy of the class—Ryuuske.

Sato hated that person from the beginning, and unluckily, after avoiding him for the past two years, in their final year, the three of them ended up in the same class. And it was a very known fact that the girl whom he aims for, Ryuuske gets her within no time.

And this time, Ryuuske’s target was the innocent Yuna.

Despite his efforts to keep them away, Yuna fell into his trap and now she was all smitten by Ryuuske.

It was clear as day that Ryuuske had nothing to do with Yuna now that he had his fun. But Yuna, with all her devotion kept on trying to pursue Ryuuske for the sake of the relationship she had with him for a brief period

But now, that’s enough. Sato cannot bear to look at his best friend and love in such a depressing state. He wouldn’t allow her to keep on involving herself with that piece of garbage anymore.

And for that, he was prepared to confront her.

“Yuna,” Since the lunch break just began mostly everyone was in the classroom. And when Sato called out to the girl, those people also stared at him.

However, because of his nervousness, he wouldn’t back down this time.

Her happy smile turned bitter seeing Sato as she asked, “What do you want now?”

Sato wasn’t discouraged to hear that tone since he had become accustomed to being treated like that.

With his fist clenched, he declared his intention to approach her, “From today on, you are not going to get involved with Ryuuske.”

Many of the students gasped, and many of them even started to take their phones out, apparently to record the drama unfolding.

However, Sato didn’t pay attention to them and continued, “I am your best friend and as a friend I know what is right and what is wrong for you. That’s why, I am telling you to stop seeing him already!”

Yuna frowned, “As a friend, you can advise me, but you don’t have the right to command me, you got that?”

She got up with her bento in her hand, when suddenly Sato held her arm forcibly, “Why don’t you understand that Ryuuske is playing with your life?! Have you turned blind in love?!”

Yuna resisted his hold and tried to free herself as she spat back in a hateful voice, “Whatever I do, is none of your concern! In the first place, we no longer are friends anymore.”

Sato was a strong man, and naturally, her attempt to be released was futile, as he continued, “Friendship doesn’t break like that, Yuna. If you can’t see what is right and what is wrong for you then I will have to use other methods to separate you from that scumbag.”

His eyes turned serious before Sato leaned forward and slowly whispered, “I am going to tell your parents.”

Yuna’s eyes widened after hearing that; however, before she could say anything, the door of the classroom was nearly pulled out of its hinges as someone suddenly dashed inside with a crazed look on their face.

Just like others, Sato also turned to look towards his left—only to feel a bone-crushing punch landing on his face and the boy being thrown to the ground.

“Agh!”

Ryuuske fortunately grabbed Yuna before she could have tripped as the one who got punched, fell to the ground.

“H-Hey…are you okay?” Ryuuske anxiously looked at her arm, which had turned red because of Sato’s hold.

Yuna’s eyes turned moist seeing Ryuuske here as she lost control over her emotions and suddenly hugged him.

Ryuuske was taken aback by the sudden warmth of her body but he didn’t reject her, rather, embraced her back.

Many students ‘ooh-ed’ from the background but Ryuuske wasn’t in the right mind to care about them.

“Y-You! Get away from her!” Suddenly, the squeaky voice of Sato resonated as he got up while covering his left cheek which was definitely bruised.

“Just a moment…”Ryuuske whispered to her before parting from Yuna and turning to look at Sato.

The boy was, at most, 5’7 tall, while Ryuuske was five inches taller and had broader shoulders than Sato. Naturally, when he stood in front of the shaved-headed boy, Ryuuske looked intimidating.

Sato didn’t back off, despite how much his mind was telling him to and also how much his legs were shaking, he didn’t show any sign of fear on his face.

Ryuuske tilted his head with a frown as he suggested, “You would look disfigured like that. Let me fix-*Slap*-you.”

A loud and crisp slapping sound resonated across the classroom as Sato stared at the man in front of him in disbelief while his cheek burned furiously; urging him to cover it as well.

Ryuuske didn’t have enough, “You were showing your strength to a girl right? Why don’t you try it….on me*PAH*!” After pulling his hand with which he was covering his cheek, Ryuuske landed another tight slap, this time with the base of his hand.

“You were eager on knowing our relationship right. Ask me. Ask me now…ask….ask….why don’t you *SLAP* ask me?!”

Tears welled in Sato’s eyes after facing the third slap as he fearfully asked, “T-Tell m-m-me…please…” More than curious to know their relationship, Sato feared that if he didn’t open his mouth he might get slapped again.

Ryuuske heaved a sigh before nodding, “Now that you have asked,” Stepping back, he wrapped his hand around Yuna’s waist before declaring, “..then let me tell you all; Yuna and I are dating. So from now on, whoever bullies her or dares to touch her…”

Further explanation was not required as every student inside the classroom nodded instantly.

Ryuuske grinned, letting his sharp canines peek out before he urged, “Let’s go Yuna. I think we had enough school for today.”
