A Chance To Rewrite It All - Chapter 15- Green flag
Anticipation and nervousness were swirling inside his stomach as Sato made his way towards the Shirakawa household.
They invited Ryuuske an hour ago, and until now, Sato hasn’t received a single word regarding what was happening within the household.
Ryuuske wouldn’t have hit Yuna’s father right? That thought was both terrifying and exciting.
Sato didn’t want his future father-in-law to get hurt; however, if that helps him realise the true face of that scumbag, then so be it.
‘Betrayed by Ryuuske, when Yuna would be all alone and lonely, as her friend it would be my duty to console her.’ He inwardly thought and felt butterflies erupting in his belly.
He reached the entrance of the residence in an instant and rang the doorbell.
*Ding* *Dong*
He was expecting the lady of the house to open the door, and that would be best since Ayumi would surely tell him everything about the meeting.
However, much to his shock to the point of staggering back, the person who opened the door was…
“Yo.”
…Ryuuske.
“…why did you open the door?” Sato was beyond dumbstruck as he stared at the ex-blond who had gotten himself a makeover in the hopes of becoming a new person.
Ryuuske grinned, “You can now expect me to open the door more often.”
Sato’s eyes parted wide upon hearing that. It doesn’t take a genius to realise what he meant by those words.
“Ryuu-kun?” Hearing Yuna’s words, Sato wiped off the shock and with a smile greeted her,
“G-Good evening,”
Yuna’s smiling face turned into a frown as she asked, “Why are you here?”
That tone…the difference in her tone when she called Ryuuske and asked him, signified several things. And that broke his heart.
“I-I…Mom made extra curry…and told me to give it to Oba-saan.”
Ryuuske took the container from Sato whose eyes were blurred because of tears before he said,
“Okay then, since it’s dinner time we will see you later?” Ryuuske didn’t ask, but rather he stepped back and soon closed the door on Sato’s face.
It took a few moments but Sato was able to collect his thoughts. The shaved-haired boy wiped his tears with his teeth gritted.
‘I swear to god, I will make Yuna and her family hate you one day.’

After returning inside Ryuuske and Yuna made their way towards the dining space where Masaru was already seated and the lady of the house was serving food.
Yuna took the container from him and placed it in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Ryuuske joined the table and sat on the right side of the patriarch. Since there were only four seats, he avoided sitting across the man and on his left.
“Was it Sato?” He asked as soon as Ryuuske sat down.
The raven-haired teenager nodded, “Yes…it was Sato.”
Masaru huffed, “I thought so.” Masaru knew how impatiently Sato must be waiting to hear the whole thing about what happened today. However, the Shirakawa patriarch has already told his wife to not tell him anything regarding Ryuuske’s case.
After a brief pause, the man asked, “So, what university are you planning to join?”
Ryuuske’s answer was unhesitant, “Tokyo University of Technology.”
Masaru was surprised, and that could be seen in the way he raised his eyebrows, “You do know the requirement to enrol there, right?”
One of the best universities in Tokyo is where Ryuuske wants to be admitted. Surely, he must have planned to get in there, right?
There are several stages through which a student has to pass to get enrolled, and the entrance exam of the university is nothing to be compared to a high school level examination.
Ryuuske smiled softly, “I have already planned for it, Shirakawa-san, and have a secondary plan if the first one fails. I have already started preparing for the entrance exams as well, and if necessary, I will join some extra classes from next month as well.”
“How will you manage expenses?” Ayumi entered the conversation with a question that made her husband frown.
Ayumi didn’t notice(?) his reaction and continued to serve rice into the bowl as she heard Ryuuske answering,
“The money I have saved through part-time jobs and Mom’s savings would be helpful for the time being. After that, I have something in mind that can become a major source of income.”
“I hope it doesn’t involve violence,” Masaru added, to which the teenager smiled in embarrassment.
“I swear, Shirakawa-san, I would never resort to violence until it becomes necessary.”
Masaru nodded firmly before the four of them finally sat around the table.
While they were having dinner, Masaru and Ayumi observed Ryuuske’s table manners, and they were astounded to see his refined etiquette. No sound of cutlery or chewing noises. No remnants escaping his chopsticks and all while expressing how well the food is made, even though he has yet to say a word.
His eyes expressed it all.
The dinner passed in silence since none of the four likes to talk while eating.
There was a smile on Yuna’s face throughout the dinner since she could see that her parents were quite impressed by her lover.
The food tasted extra sweet today!
“The food was incredible, Shirakawa-san. You added the perfect amount of spices and seasoning to my taste. I might have eaten more than usual today.” Once they were done eating, Ryuuske complimented the chef and the food.
Ayumi sweetly smiled as she encouraged, “You should have asked for more. A young growing boy needs to eat more.”
Ryuuske rested his hand on his belly before saying, “Then I might renew my gym subscription since saying no to that food is impossible.”
The sweet laughter of the lady echoed in the kitchen as Yuna helped bring the cutlery to the sink.
Ryuuske didn’t insist on helping since despite how casual he seemed with them, it was still his first visit, and he still was quite cautious with his actions and words.
Suddenly, Masaru got up from his seat and said, “Since it’s late, I will drop Ryuuska home.”
Yuna blinked in surprise, before she whined, “But Dad, it’s only ten….”
Masaru sternly spoke, “His mother is not well, Yuna.”
After that the girl didn’t say anything and felt quite guilty for forgetting about her.
Ryuuske got up before he bowed toward Ayumi, “Thanks for inviting me, Shirakawa-san. The food was really nice.”
Ayumi stood beside her daughter and smilingly said, “Rather, I am thankful that you came. And I hope this wasn’t your last visit.”
Yuna beamed and there was a smile on Ryuuske’s face as he looked at her.
Before coming here, he could have never expected that this lady, who hates him more than anyone else, would actually give her thumbs up to their relationship.
Truly, today was the best day.
