Volume 7 Chapter 76 Beyond the limits
Rio was delighted that she could exert her strength and, above all, that the one she had raised had grown so far.
That’s precisely why she couldn’t hold back. She needed to draw out more power!
“Dragon Claw – Dimension Rend!”
Rio extended her claws and swung her arm with all her might, causing the space in front of her to tear into five linear fragments. Ruisha’s unleashed Dimension Slash clashed with Rio’s attack, creating a grating metallic sound as they neutralized each other.
“I’m not done yet…!”
Even though his all-out attack was thwarted, Ruisha didn’t give up.
He landed on the ground and accelerated vigorously, directing the tip of the Dragon King Sword toward Rio. A lightning-fast thrust—Rio deflected it with the horn on her head and followed up with a knee kick to Ruisha’s abdomen.
Gasping
A sensation of pressure in the abdomen and the shrinking of the stomach assault Ruisha. If his body were real and not ethereal, he would have spilled the contents of his stomach.
Every all-out attack is completely blocked, and the opponent’s attacks are steadily injuring his own body. Even in such a despairing battle situation, there was no hint of surrender in Ruisha’s eyes.
Not yet, I can still do it. The hesitant Ruisha from before the fight was no longer there.
“Rooooaaaarrrr!!”
“Good job, Rui! Burn your soul even more!”
Roaring fiercely, Ruisha thrusts his sword, and Rio takes the hit with his own body. Testarossa watches this exchange with envy.
“You’re doing great, Rio. Looks like all the anxiety has vanished from Rui.”
Without realizing it, Ruisha’s heart had worn out from the exchange of life and death in the battle against the demons. So, Ruisha became afraid to fight, and as a result, lost his confidence.
Rio, realizing this, decided to confront it head-on. To remind Ruisha of the joy and wonder of battling and competing.
“Haha, it’s fun, Rui!”
“I don’t have that luxury… but, right!”
While saying so, Ruisha swings his sword with all his might, his face filled with joy. He couldn’t swing a sword like this in the outside world with his friends. That’s why he is very happy to have someone who accepts all of him.
“Rio, I’m no longer hesitating.”
While fiercely swinging his sword, Ruisha says so.
“For the two who raised me so strongly, for my body that endured difficult training, and for the friends I made in the other world… I no longer fear fighting!”
Ruisha poured his strength into the hand gripping the sword and swung it with all his might.
“This is my answer!”
He shouted and swung the sword.
At first glance, the attack seemed like a regular dimensional slash. However, the attack didn’t stop with just one strike, it continued with two, three strikes in rapid succession.
And in the blink of an eye, multiple dimensional rifts appeared before Rio.
“Dimension… Combo Slash!”
Ruisha’s attack exceeded its limits. It symbolized his progress beyond being able to perform only a single strike.
“Come! I’ll take it all!”
Rio countered Ruisha’s Dimensional Combo Slash with Dragon Claw Dimensional Rend, clashing their techniques.
“Roaaarrrggghhh!”
They roared as they clashed their techniques.
In the seemingly eternal moment, the two truly connected their hearts.
It was a blissful time. However… things that last forever do not exist.
Ruisha, long past his physical limits, suddenly began to bleed from his nose while swinging his sword. At that moment, his entire body lost its strength, and he fell to his knees and collapsed on the spot.
“Is this… the end?”
Whispering those words with a sense of regret, Ruisha fell, and Rio caught and cradled him.
Her expression had changed from the fierceness of battle to a gentle one.
“You did well, Rui. I didn’t expect you to become this strong.”
“But… in the end, I couldn’t land a single hit on you.”
Ruisha said apologetically.
Then, Rio suddenly started to chuckle.
“Haven’t you noticed? That strike you launched from above, it did hit me properly.”
Saying that, Rio showed Ruisha her left arm.
There, faintly but certainly, there were marks resembling cuts, with a trickle of blood.
“Have confidence, Rui. You’ve managed to land a blow on the mightiest me. You’ll soon be able to defeat me.”
“Heh, if Rio says so, I’ll believe it.”
With tears welling in his eyes, Ruisha said that.
And at the opportune moment, his body began to turn translucent. It seemed his time here was coming to an end.
“In the future, you’ll be facing many strong opponents. But there won’t be anyone stronger than me. In other words, if you can have a good match with me, you can win.”
“Yeah. No matter who the opponent is, I’ll show them I can win. I’m the disciple of the strongest duo, after all.”
Ruisha said with a smile and disappeared into particles of light.
When will they meet again? Rio gazed at the light with a lonely expression.
“Rio…”
Testarossa approached her.
Rio, still facing away, asked her a question.
“Do you think… I did well?”
“Yes, you were amazing. You truly looked like a master.”
“Heh, don’t tease me. After all, I’m his truest master.”
“Oh, are you picking a fight?”
“How about a rematch after a long time? My body was just getting warmed up.”
They provocatively bantered and laughed. Their closeness was unimaginable compared to how they were before.
“Hey, how was his fighting?”
“Hmm. He was able to tap into our power quite a bit… the power of the demons and dragons. With this, the day he will become ‘Demon Dragon General’ is approaching.”
Ruisha’s insignia hadn’t awakened yet. Not because his strength was insufficient… but because his body capable of enduring the awakening of the power of both the demon and dragon races hadn’t been completed. The two kings believed this.
“It would be good if I were close by when the insignia awakens. If it awakens when he’s exhausted, it might go berserk.”
“That’s true… Our power is too immense for a single human to handle. If consumed by that power, one’s mind could be overpowered.”
“But I believe in him. After all, he is my—no, our disciple!”
“My, such sweet words. Shall I pamper you again?”
“Enough, you lascivious demon! Are you sure you’re not a succubus!?”
“H-How mean!”
The two fretted and babbled, worrying about their disciple.
May many come to aid him on his journey—so they hoped.

Volume 7 Chapter 76.1 Side story: Crimson sharpens the blade
In a secluded part of the deep forest stands a mysterious church.
Few visitors venture to this church, its exterior seeming neglected with patches of cracks, making it appear dilapidated and susceptible to collapse in the event of a typhoon.
Amidst this conspicuously enigmatic church was a certain young girl.
“Why do I have to come to such a remote place?” she sighed.
Her fiery red hair and sharp, determined eyes made a bold statement. Typically, one would choose subdued colors for armor to avoid drawing attention, but the armor she wore was a vivid red that could be seen from afar. Surely, the armor shopkeeper must have been bewildered, wondering, “Is this color really okay?”
Her name was Elena Burnwood, the worst childhood friend of Ruisha, who inadvertently ended up in the infinite prison.
She voiced her complaints to the suited beastman in front of her.
“Well, isn’t this nice? You just happened to be free after finishing a big assignment, right?”
“Geez, it’s creepy how you know my schedule. But more importantly, are you really investigating about Ruisha? If you know and are keeping quiet, I won’t stand for it.”
“Oh, of course. I, Legion, solemnly swear I’m not lying.”
The beastman named Legion responded with a gentle smile.
Elena tried to ascertain if he was telling the truth from his demeanor, but he remained composed throughout, showing no signs of deceit.
“Hmph, fine. Anyway, go ahead and tell me why you’re here.”
“Rest assured, he should be coming soon… Ah, speaking of which.”
The church doors creaked open.
And into the church stepped a man. He seemed to be in his thirties, wearing well-maintained leather armor and carrying a sword. His cautious movements indicated his vigilance, and it was clear he was a skilled warrior.
The man quickly noticed Elena inside the church and pointed his sword at her. Upon examining Elena’s face, his expression darkened.
“You… You’re Elena of ‘Crimson Blaze,’ aren’t you? A new adventurer with incredible momentum. What on earth are you doing in a place like this?”
“Quit yapping. And who the heck are you?”
“I’m Uradus, a silver-ranked adventurer, and the ‘Crust Sword.’ I came to investigate after discovering this church is the hideout of a massive underground organization. I never expected you to be a part of that organization!”
What in the world is going on? Elena glanced towards Legion, who should have been by her side, but he had vanished without a trace.
“You sly fox,” Elena muttered.
Letting out a sigh, she approached Uradus with determined steps.
Perplexed by her complete lack of wariness, Uradus tightened his grip on his sword, ready for anything.
“So, what’s your plan? Going to take me on?”
“Grr, you underestimate me…!”
Being belittled by a girl younger than him, Uradus felt his pride shatter into pieces.
He readied his sword, activating the sword technique that had become his epithet, ‘Crust Sword’… but Elena didn’t give him the chance.
“My own style of swordsmanship, ‘Crimson Flashstrike.'”
A rapid strike with a sword superheated by the power of magic.
Uradus couldn’t even react to that strike. Before he knew it, the young girl was behind him, and a large burn mark had appeared on his torso from the searing cut.
“Yaaaargh!!”
Screaming in pain from the delayed agony that tore through him, Uradus thrashed on the ground.
Elena, arriving a moment later, coldly said, “You’re quite noisy,” and kicked his head, ending his consciousness. She looked down at the writhing Uradus with indifference, and then glanced back. And there, leaning against the wall, wearing his ever-persistent glued-on smile, was Legion.
“Well, well, marvelous. A mere silver-ranked adventurer is no match anymore.”
“Did you bring me here just for this ridiculous charade? Keep acting so cocky, and I won’t hold back.”
Elena pressed her sword against Legion’s neck, directing an intense, beast-like killing intent at him.
Yet, Legion didn’t lose his cheerful smile. Elena felt an unsettling and enigmatic sense of discomfort from him, unwavering even for a moment.
“Hmph, I’ll let you off the hook for today. But if this nonsense continues, I’ll consider our cooperative relationship null and void.”
“Yes, I’ll keep that in mind.”
Elena sheathed her sword, giving Legion a stern look, then left the church with a scoff.
After watching her leave, Legion remained in the church and muttered to himself.
“Hehe, what will happen if I bring her and him together…! But patience is key. When they both reach their peak, at the perfect moment, they will have the most extraordinary encounter. It’s then that the ultimate emotion will be born!”
The once mild-mannered man was no longer there. In his place was the image of a fanatic surrendering to excitement and madness.
“Please watch, Creator God, for the finest drama and ecstasy…!”
In the hushed church, only his maniacal laughter echoed.
