- You’re Right, They’ll Expel Me if I Run into the Store with a Weapon!!
- Chapter 71: What's Wrong with Me?
“If we’re participating in the event, we’ll definitely need firearms, right? Then, how about mine?”
“We’ll use the issued equipment, so it’s fine.”
“Please use mine!?”
After talking over each other, Haruna approaches while yelling, but Hiroki turns away, feigning ignorance.
“The moment you offered a folding umbrella, I couldn’t trust you. You’re completely hopeless.”
“The functionality has greatly improved! And speaking of which, I haven’t billed you for the improvements yet! Here, pay up! Hurry!”
Seemingly irritated, Haruna starts to confront aggressively. However, the matter of the improvement fees had already been resolved.
With a slight smirk, Hiroki hands over a piece of paper from a high stance, “Here.”
“Huh? This is…! The worst! To think you’d involve the professor.”
“That’s for the trouble you’ve caused! I’ve heard before that the equipment you provided was quite dangerous!”
“Ugh…”
He brings up the fact that the equipment Haruna provided was not safe. If something had happened, the responsibility would have reached the professor as the superior.
They managed to prevent the worst-case scenario, but the professor’s sense of responsibility wouldn’t allow it, and on the day Haruna’s equipment was returned, they also received a “fee waiver” certificate.
“This waives the bill.”
“Kuuu…”
In front of a frustrated Haruna, Hiroki concludes the issue of the bill and heads towards the exit, having finished his business.
“Firstly, your equipment is expensive. If we can use the issued equipment, we’ll use that.”
“Expensive, you say, but with your current financial situation, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?”
“Hmm?”
Stopping in his tracks as he was about to open the door, Hiroki is caught off-guard by Haruna’s words. Turning around, he sees a girl with her fingers in her ears, operating a tablet and continuing to speak.
“You look clueless, but could it be you haven’t checked your account? I heard you were on the same mission as Shiori.”
“Account? Shiori?”
“Check your account with your smartphone.”
Prompted by Haruna, Hiroki opens his smartphone and navigates to a specific site, where he inputs his personal information, including his password, to access his account. He quickly grasps the meaning behind Haruna’s words.
“One, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand… Huh?”
“Wow, indeed a huge amount has been transferred.”
As he utters a foolish sound at the sight of an unfamiliar amount of money, Haruna peeks from behind and adds her comment, clearly showing on her face that he was unaware of this.
“Ah, ah, aah?”
“Hmm? I thought you were going to freak out in surprise, but what’s with that question mark?”
He was indeed about to panic, but that quickly subsided. Haruna voices her confusion, but Hiroki himself is also puzzled.
“No, it’s like… what is it? Feels like there’s something stuck? Anyway, I can’t be surprised.”
Haruna deepens her frown at Hiroki’s words showing his hesitation.
“Stuck?”
“It feels like I’ve forgotten something important… Why is that? This amount is definitely surprising, but something’s missing.”
“Forgotten… Hmm. Did something related to money happen before?”
“Money? …No, it felt simple… like I had a large amount of money…”
“Had? Let me see…”
Haruna takes the device from Hiroki’s hand and starts checking his account history. Hiroki tries to snatch it back, but Haruna finishes her check faster.
“There was no such large amount of money. If it were more than the reward this time, I would have definitely deposited it.”
“Is it just my imagination?”
“Unless you were involved in dangerous jobs before transferring schools.”
Haruna jokes with a thin smile as she hands the tablet back to Hiroki.
“Here’s my catalog! Now, let’s end this confusion and face reality! With your current financial situation, you can easily afford it!”
“I’m not buying it. Then I guess I’m… oh.”
“Hm? Did you remember something?”
“No… because I can’t trust you, that’s enough.”
With that, Hiroki turns towards the exit, saying “later” as his last word. However, his steps halt immediately, feeling a tight squeeze around his stomach and back.
“Hey, let go. Being hugged tightly like this won’t touch my heart. You may look cute, but your stupidity surpasses that. Go get your soul cleaned and come back.”
“Now, now, what were you thinking when you said “because I can’t trust you, that’s enough”? It sounded like you were about to ask for something.”
Trying to step forward with more force, Haruna’s resistance proves stronger. Hiroki gives up, relaxes his legs, and places his hands on Haruna’s arms wrapped around his stomach.
“Listen, Haruna, I like the word ‘safe.’ Nobody wants to do dangerous things. You get it, right?”
“I understand. Safety is the top priority for everyone.”
“Right.”
Seeing Hiroki’s change in attitude, Haruna releases her grip. Hiroki turns around slowly and continues.
“Then I’ll tell you,”
“But before that,”
Haruna picks up a device with red and blue buttons, points it at the door, and clicks it. A shutter appears, completely hiding the door.
“Now, please continue.”
“Now it’s gone. My words, the door, and my hope.”
Hiroki had planned to push her down and escape quickly, but with the exit now completely blocked, his planned route of escape was utterly sealed off.
His feigned look of resignation turns genuine, and Hiroki slowly settles himself on the long sofa in the room.
“I really don’t want to ask for anything you prepare. It’s truly frightening.”
“Thank you for your nomination! I’m Haruna, the number one girl of this facility!”
“Eh, when did I nominate Haruna-chan? Why are you nonchalantly sitting next to me?”
“Hiroki-san. I want you to order this ‘Barrett M107A1’ for me”
Presented with a sweet tone and shown the tablet’s screen, there was a black, large firearm displayed. Upon seeing its price, Hiroki has only one response.
“Don’t joke with me! It’s seven digits! Most of my savings would be gone!”
“Eeh~, then what will you ask for~?”
“Stop trying to lead this into me asking for something.”
While saying that, Hiroki takes out his smartphone, operates it, and shows the notes app on the screen. After glancing over it, he turns to face Haruna.
“Do you have ‘408 CheyTac’ bullets? The ones made from materials specially prepared for this event.”
Upon hearing that name, Haruna’s eyes widen, but soon they turn into a smile, showing the excited eyes of a child to Hiroki.
“We don’t have them now, but I can prepare them in a few dozen minutes. It would be difficult for anyone other than me to produce them before the day of the event.”
