- You’re Right, They’ll Expel Me if I Run into the Store with a Weapon!!
- Chapter 29: What I Can Do…
“The plane will soon take off. Please double-check your seatbelts.”
(Yay! I got to ride a plane with the money from combat school. Now I’m headed to “hell.”)
“Ogino-kun, did you say something?”
“No, just talking to myself, Amakusa-sensei…”
He was feeling pretty gloomy inside the plane. It would’ve been nice if this was a trip for fun, but they’re heading to a country with criminal organizations.
Amakusa-sensei, sitting next to him, is accompanying us as a supervisor. He doubted he could’ve kept my cool if it were just him and Shiori.
“Amakusa-sensei, just to confirm, I’m allowed to act freely, right?”
“Yes! But first, speak with the supervisors from the other branch, and then you can do as you like!”
“Understood.”
He got her word. This means he can avoid dangerous places during the mission and have fun in safe areas.
(Spend three or four days abroad doing whatever; when I return, my debt will be cleared. Perfect.)
He wanted to try out “Disaster,” but who knows if there are tanks. He doesn’t want to encounter a tank. If he does, it’s game over for real.
“You can sleep if you want; we won’t arrive for a while.”
She said, handing me a blanket. He is indeed sleepy. Well, it is night, after all.
“Thank you.”
“Goodnight.”
“Has Hiroki fallen asleep?”
“Yes, he was out in seconds after closing his eyes… That guy is something.”
Amazing. Amakusa-sensei must have meant to say that. He thinks so, too.
This mission is to infiltrate a base where the enemy organization is active. He’s entering the most dangerous place, yet he sleeps so soundly without a care.
“Shiori-chan, you’ve executed infiltration missions before, right? How were you the night before your first mission?”
“I couldn’t sleep. Thinking about it, I’m still a bit scared even now.”
“That’s normal. It’s rare for someone to remain calm knowing they might die soon.”
“But he…”
“Don’t compare yourself to Hiroki-kun. You know that better than anyone.”
His abilities far surpass her. She’s painfully aware of that. That’s why he can sleep in this situation. But still,
“I have to compare.”
“Shiori-chan?”
“Sensei, I’m going to sleep too. Goodnight.”
“Yes, goodnight.”
she closes her eyes like Hiroki.
(Surely, I’ll fall asleep quickly this time. Why? Because the strong Hiroki is nearby.)
“Hmm… huh?”
When he opened my eyes, sunlight streamed in through the window, hitting his face.
“Good morning, Hiroki-kun. You slept soundly, didn’t you?”
Next to me was Amakusa-sensei, busy with her tablet.
“Good morning. How much longer until we arrive?”
“About four more hours. Breakfast will be served soon, so decide what you want and get up.”
“Okay.”
It’s been a while since he last had an in-flight meal. Was it beef or fish?
“I’ll have the beef.”
“I’ll go with fish.”
“On a diet?”
“No, it’s not that. I like beef but don’t feel like eating meat right now.”
Huh? Passing up free beef when you have the chance just because you don’t feel like it?
(She likes it but won’t eat it. This is…)
Self-control. She’s the type to refrain from eating what she likes until the mission ends, then binge to her heart’s content. But passing up a free meal? That’s not right. So,
“Sensei, I think you should eat now.”
“Eh?”
“Please eat. I think that’s the best thing to do.”
“Do you understand how I feel and still say that?”
“Yes. I want you to eat. I believe it’s the right thing to do.”
“…Thank you, Hiroki-kun. Then I’ll have it.”
“Okay.”
Yeah. he feels like he did something really good. Are Amakusa-sensei’s eyes a bit teary, or is it just me? Well, it doesn’t matter. He’ll order beef for her, too.
(I know everything. I wasn’t in the mood to eat meat. It’s always like this. My students might die. Their beautiful skin was stained with blood. Imagine that I always lose my appetite for meat. But…)
“You can eat now, I think it’s better.”
“I think it’s best.”
“I want you to eat. That’s the correct thing to do.”
She was scared of him. He said he knew how she felt. He asked her to eat meat despite knowing. Has there ever been such an unlucky teacher? A student who doesn’t cause worry like him?
There hasn’t been. No one has the right to worry about him. As a teacher, her compassion isn’t needed for him. She’s never had a student so painful to watch.
But somehow, when he’s on a mission, she feels like she can eat meat. So, she requested him.
“…Thank you, Hiroki-kun. Then, please (take care of Shiori-chan and everyone).”
He promptly replied, “Okay.”
Surely, Hiroki-kun can complete the mission without any casualties.
He has a power unseen by the principal. He showed the highest level of stability in the world. He easily defeated Shiori-chan, ranked tenth.
This is proof of his strength and why I believe in him.
(I allowed him free rein to unshackle him. I guess he doesn’t want others to see his real power. If he wants to hide his strength, I’ll let him. If it means everyone can return safely.)
So…
“Good luck.”
“Sensei? Did you say something?”
“No, just talking to myself, Hiroki-kun.”
