Yandere and Menhera - Suddenly Having a Yandere Older Stepsister and a Menhera Younger Stepsister Makes Every Day Difficult - Chapter 1 - 23/24
Ten minutes had passed since Saeka-chan and I began studying when we came across trick questions and high-difficulty Kanji reading problems that appear on high school entrance exams. Saeka-chan, perhaps tired, began stretching her back. Though she has a cute face, as she stretched, a not-so-cute “bang” made a much larger “fruit” apparent than one might expect.
In desperation, I averted my gaze and found myself repeatedly jotting down “I’m not looking” in bullet points, over and over. After finishing her stretch, Saeka-chan came up from behind and hugged me.
A soft sensation assaulted my back, threatening to sweep away my sanity. Yet, being a judo practitioner, I’m expected to have control over my mind. That’s why I desperately tried to unify my spirit, trying to forget the feel of Saeka-chan’s chest.
Saeka-chan whispered in my ear.
“Hey, Ryu-kun. I like you. You don’t have to date me, just let me like you. For now.”
“For now?”
While caught up in Saeka-chan’s words, I wanted nothing more than to concentrate solely on studying, so I told her.
“Can you… step back? Let’s study now?”
“Eh? But I’ve already finished my homework.”
Looking at Saeka-chan’s notebook, she had indeed finished her homework, which had a submission deadline, perfectly without a single mistake. I thought she was capable enough to study on her own, but then Saeka-chan whispered in my ear again.
“You’re thinking if I can study this much on my own, you don’t need to be here, right?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“You don’t get it.”
Whether it was because of that incident during the entrance ceremony or for some other reason, the cool and unapproachable Saeka-chan was clinging to me. I felt I had to leave her house soon, or I wouldn’t be able to keep my sanity, so I quickly finished my homework and was about to leave.
“Eh, you’re leaving?”
“Yeah.”
“Aw, let’s play a game.”
“Okay, fine. Just for a bit.”
I stopped in my tracks, caught in the devilish charm of Saeka-chan looking up at me, and took hold of the game controller that was prepared.
Rather than the game controller, I wished I had control over my feelings, regretting it as I began to play the game with Saeka-chan.
Saeka-chan’s gaming preferences were unusual. Contrary to the stereotype of girls enjoying cute cat-raising games or party games everyone could enjoy, she had prepared an intense FPS game.
“We’ll switch on every death!”
With a smile, Saeka-chan said. Her skill level was so high, it made me wonder if Saeka-chan might be an otaku, making me feel embarrassed to play in front of her.
“Ah, I died!”
“My turn?”
“Yes!”
Clutching the controller tightly, I focused on the game. Seizing the moment, Saeka-chan tickled me from the side.
“Stop, stop!”
“Go, go!”
“Ah, I died…”
“Hehe, my win!”
“Your turn, I guess.”
“Hey. Let’s do something more fun than games.”
Saeka-chan suddenly suggested. As I was confused, she stood up and slowly sat next to me, placing her hands on my knees.
With my heart racing, wondering what would happen or what she would say, Saeka-chan’s earlier smile vanished completely, and her eyes began to melt.
◆ ◇ ◆
As Saeka-chan looked at me with her eyes melting, my heart was pounding as if it would burst. Her hand, initially on my knee, slowly moved up toward my thigh, prompting me to exclaim.
“What’s happening?!”
“Please, just be quiet.”
Her voice, once gentle, turned cold and piercing, as if she were a hawk eyeing its prey. I braced myself for an attack, holding my breath in anticipation.
Then, the doorbell rang… once, then again.
The sound appeared to awaken Saeka-chan, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she ran to the door. My heart was still racing uncontrollably.
Minutes passed, and Saeka-chan hadn’t returned, which made me worried. Peeking toward the entrance from the room, I saw Saeka-chan, her body trembling as she spoke with someone.
Approaching the entrance apprehensively, I recognized a familiar voice.
“Ryusuke-kun♡”
“Ma, Matsuri-neesan?!”
It was Matsuri-neesan talking with Saeka-chan. She was holding a shopping bag, from which leeks were sticking out, likely returning from grocery shopping for dinner. Yet, I was puzzled why she rang this house’s doorbell or what business she had here. Then, she turned to me.
“Ryusuke-kun. Let’s go home, shall we?”
“Uh, well?”
“Ryusuke-kun. Why are you at such a place?”
“Eh?”
“Ryusuke-kun.”
“Yes?”
“Shall we go?”
There was an aura around Matsuri-neesan, not of malice but something else, signaling that neither Saeka-chan nor I should oppose her.
“Yes.”
I simply nodded, agreeing to follow Matsuri-neesan, grabbing my bag and leaving Saeka-chan’s house.
“Sorry for intruding. See you at school, Saeka-chan.”
“Um, yeah.”
The moment we stepped out and Saeka-chan closed the door, Matsuri-neesan gave me a tight hug and said.
“I’m sorry…”
“Eh?”
“Sorry for interrupting. You were with your important friend, and I’m sorry if I made you angry. I’m truly sorry.”
There was nothing else to do but forgive her overwhelming apologies.
“It’s, it’s okay. But how did you know I was here?”
“…Intuition.”
“Intuition?!?!”
Being pinpointed by Matsuri-neesan’s sixth sense filled me with dread.
I realized I couldn’t afford to act carelessly anymore. Just as Matsuri-neesan and I were about to head home slowly, we heard a voice calling “Onii-chan” from behind.
“Ri, Ririka-chan?!”
“Onii-chan!”
“What are you doing out at this time?”
As I asked, a cute-looking girl approached from behind, followed by a cool-looking man.
“I’m sorry. Ririka-chan and my daughter were playing until this time, and I thought to escort her home.”
“Ah, no, thank you for that.”
“Not at all. And you are…?”
“Ah, I’m Ririka-chan’s step-brother.”
“Oh, I see. Sorry for keeping her out so late.”
“No problem, we’ll be heading off now.”
With that, I took Ririka home, watching her friend and her friend’s father until they were out of sight.
“Shall we go home?”
This day was filled with the relief of knowing Ririka had friends and the fear of Matsuri-neesan’s sixth sense.
Wondering what the future holds, I made a vow not to act recklessly and slowly walked home with the three of us.
