Yandere and Menhera - Suddenly Having a Yandere Older Stepsister and a Menhera Younger Stepsister Makes Every Day Difficult - Chapter 1 - 15/16
I was patting Saeka-chan’s head when, five minutes before the start of the second period, the nurse came over to me and said,
“It’s okay now.”
“Ah, yes.”
“Ogata-sensei had already given the okay, and since Saeka-san is sleeping so soundly, and we’ve managed to contact her guardians too.”
“I’ll head back then.”
“Yes, thank you.”
I hurried back to the classroom. Just as I was about to take out my textbook for the next class, I realized that five minutes had already passed, and the teacher for the next subject had entered.
“Hey Kanazawa, why aren’t you ready yet?”
“Sorry.”
“Tch. This is why I hate kids.”
I was slightly irritated by the teacher’s unteacher-like behavior, but I tried my best to pay attention and seriously engage with the class, even though it seemed like the teacher was targeting me for my earlier unpreparedness.
“Hey. Kanazawa, what’s the answer to this?”
“X equals 2.”
“Hmm. Impressive, for you. Alright, take your seat.”
The teacher’s annoying attitude continued, and I ended up claiming I had a stomachache and escaping to the nurse’s office.
“Ah, Kanazawa-kun, what’s wrong?”
“Sorry. It’s just Nagami-sensei.”
“Oh. Take your time and rest. Saeka-chan is awake now, though.”
“Oh, what about her guardians?”
“Well, their car tire blew out on the way here, so they can’t come to pick her up.”
I became worried about Saeka-chan and approached her bed, hearing her sobbing softly.
“Sa-Saeka-chan?”
“Eh?! What?”
“Are you okay?”
“It’s nothing.”
“I see. Well, if you say so.”
“Hey. Ryusuke-kun.”
“Hm?”
“About what was said earlier.”
“Oh. The ‘Ryu-kun’ part?”
“Not that!”
Saeka-chan raised her voice a bit but then apologized and said to me,
“Ryusuke-kun. I’ve known for quite a while that Sakagami-kun likes me, but, well…”
“Hm?”
“I…”
“Please, don’t say any more.”
I stopped Saeka-chan’s words. If she continued, I wouldn’t know how to face Sakagami, not to mention what Ririka-chan or Matsuri-nee-san might think, and I also felt that I wasn’t in the right state to fully accept what Saeka-chan was saying.
“Hey. Ryusuke-kun.”
“Yeah, sorry.”
“It’s okay. Um, if I’m feeling better tomorrow, I’d like to hang out after school.”
“That’s fine.”
“Thank you.”
After making a promise to hang out with Saeka-chan after school, I slowly made my way back to the classroom as the chime for the end of the second period rang, carrying my jersey and heading towards the gymnasium for the third and fourth periods.
◆ ◇ ◆
As I headed to the gymnasium, I found that everyone had already changed into their jerseys, leaving me completely behind. It was when I walked towards the back of the changing room to change my clothes.
“Ryusuke.”
“Sa-Sakagami?!”
“Yeah. Hey, I need to talk to you.”
“What is it?”
“Did you spread the word that I like Saeka?”
“Wh, what??”
“I hadn’t told anyone. Yet, it’s all over the class. What’s going on?”
“I don’t know. I haven’t said a word about it, and Sakagami, you’re my best friend. Why would I give away such important information about a friend?”
“If that’s how you’re going to play it, fine.”
“Sakagami?”
Sakagami somehow got the impression that I was the one who had been spreading rumors. Indeed, now that I think about it, Saeka-chan’s words earlier were nagging at me.
The phrase “I’ve known for quite some time that Sakagami-kun likes me” was puzzling, wondering who told her that Sakagami liked Saeka.
Since I had made plans to hang out after school tomorrow, I figured I should ask her about it then. As I was pondering this, the bell for the start of class rang.
I quickly changed and went to the teacher, feeling a piercing murderous intent from Sakagami at my back. I couldn’t understand why he harbored such hostility towards me without knowing the truth, which frustrated me. Today’s class was basketball.
Worried that Sakagami might attack me, I kept a suitable distance from him throughout the class.
As soon as the bell for the end of the fourth period rang, I grabbed Sakagami’s arm while running.
“Let go.”
“I need to talk. Follow me.”
“Huh?”
“Just come.”
“I have lunch duty, you know?”
“…Fine. After school then.”
“Ah, yeah, yeah. Let me guess, you’re going to say you didn’t spread any rumors, right?”
“That’s not it!”
Sakagami had become very cynical, completely distrustful of me. I felt utterly inadequate and was determined to thoroughly punish whoever had leaked the information about Sakagami liking Saeka.
It was lunchtime, so I headed back to the classroom to eat lunch before the break. I then went to the nurse’s office to check if Saeka-chan had gone home, and she had already left.
“Ryusuke-kun. What’s up?”
“Ah, sorry. I wanted to ask Saeka something.”
“You look so down.”
“No, it’s nothing. Excuse me!”
Just as I was about to hurriedly leave the nurse’s office, I accidentally bumped into Sakagami.
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine. See ya.”
“Wait. It wasn’t me!”
“Forget it. I’ll make sure you won’t make it to the nationals in the inter-school competition.”
“Huh?”
“I’ll make sure it matches your weight.”
“You think you can beat me?”
“Are you picking a fight?”
“It’s fine. If that’s what you want, I’ll take you on.”
“Don’t blame me when you end up embarrassed, Ryusuke.”
“Same to you.”
In a moment of impulsiveness, I had picked a fight with Sakagami. There was no turning back now. Our relationship had deteriorated to such an extent that the person who spread the rumor about Sakagami became irrelevant. I was now focused solely on beating Sakagami, spending my days immersed in judo practice.
