With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 95- New identity~3
A very long time ago, Vampires were at the top of the food chains and they used to bargain in trade using their life stocks, that is humans.
They were the pinnacle of strength and had most of the world under their rule. They misused their powers and ran amok in their kingdom like a tyrant and did whatever they pleased.
The development of humanity stagnated because of the presence of these cold-blooded beings, who can grow their populace based on necessity. However, increment in the number of vampires was a tough task with a wide margin of failure.
The amount of inhumane residing on the planet wasn’t much more than a few thousand yet their formidable strength and varying skills never allowed the humans to fight back.
It was a period of chaos.
Given the unstable mindset of these cold-blooded beings, wars occurred very frequently. A small cause could result in several deaths. A little spark could lighten up a whole country.
However, those wars mostly remained two-faced—only between two parties.
What no vampire could ever tolerate is the concentration of power.
All those vampire rulers had their territory under which they worked as they pleased. However, at some point, an administrator arrived with the strength to rule over every other kingdom and vampires.
A Sovereign appeared.
Carrying the strength of opposing any and every protestor, the said Sovereign made a name for himself in the world very quickly.
Some clans and kingdoms began fearing the Sovereign and some antagonized him.
Those who were terrified of the strength and troops that the Sovereign possessed, readily allowed their kingdom to be annexed under the Sovereign’s control. And those who opposed him constantly kept on fighting.
The majority of kingdoms were against the Sovereign which resulted in constant battles and wars—continuing for ages.
The Sovereign had formidable allies and troops and those allied nations also supported the being who arrived with the motive of bringing stability to the world.
Naturally, losses were faced from either side. Millions of humans were sacrificed in the war and the number of vampires also began to decrease dramatically.
At one point, the number of humans trimmed down to even less than how many vampires there were originally. The number of vampires was also reduced to under a hundred.
However, despite all the losses, neither side was prepared to yield.
It became a reason for concern that even if the Sovereign or the rogue Rulers won, they wouldn’t have anyone to rule. And given how the remaining humans were affected by the war, the vampires deemed their existence to be proceeding toward crisis.
Around that time, a middle path was discovered.
Hibernation.
The remaining vampires one after another began to store their bodies in the confinement of Earth with the hope of rising once again when the human populace would once again reach its peak.
They hoped that once the humans populated the planet once again, the vampires would awaken in a few hundred years and continue their war.
….however, once they awakened and discovered the thing called ‘mana’ now a part of the planet—the Vampires instantly discerned that they could no longer dominate the humans.
And because of that, the existence of Vampires is still hidden.

[Yuki’s POV:]
I heard the story from zero to a hundred but not even a single point amazed me. It all sounded too unrealistic to believe it.
“You don’t believe me?”
“I am surprised you even have to ask me that.” I responded to the woman with a soft smile and my eyes turning crescent.
Soon my expression morphed into a scowl as I told her, “Get your head out of fantasy books and tell me what’s the real story.”
Hearing my response, the girl asked me something that caught me off guard, “Have you ever wondered why there is no evident proof of this world before four hundred years?”
I frowned a bit, “What do you mean?”
“I mean that around when the Vampires were ruling over the world, they never allowed history to be written, and after they migrated the humans didn’t have the resources nor the motivation to record the existence of their lost rulers.”
Taking a pause, she took out something from her pocket and showed it to me.
It was a small parchment. Torn and rugged. Its color had faded and the parchment was on the verge of tearing apart—just a little haste would be enough.
The drawing inside the parchment made me amazed.
There was a large shadow in it, with long nails and a red open maw. Other than that, there were several small people worshipping the figure.
The ominous figure of the claw possessing being, drew my attention the most.
“These types of drawings can be found everywhere. These are the small pieces of evidence that signify that vampires existed way before dungeons arrived. And people comprehended it as the dungeon dwellers were present in the past as well.”
What she said was true. Many believe that in the past, there were otherworldly beings present among us because of several cave drawings and parchments like this one. However, modern-day science couldn’t find a clue of any entity other than humans to be a part of the civilization.
I looked at her suspiciously, “Do you think a vintage drawing would make me believe you?”
“No, but do you have any other choice than me? If you don’t understand your current stance then your future would be manipulated by someone else.”
She said with a tinge of seriousness in her voice. This was the first time she sounded like that.
I heaved a sigh, and asked her, “Then…are you telling me that I was that Sovereign who rose against the other rulers?”
Given the importance she has given to the Sovereign in her story and also since she said that my presence mattered to the vampires a lot, I discerned as much.
I mean, why not?
However, the woman shook her head and asked me,
“Do you know, why the Sovereign was able to uphold his ground against those many powerful tyrants?”
I tilted my head a little, “Because of his allies and the General you told me about?”
She shook her head and informed me, “It was the Sovereign’s closest friend and personal bodyguard—Aldric. The person who became the reason why the power balance went haywire and why the Sovereign was able to hold his fort until the end. The person who was hailed as the Death Raven and had massacred over ten thousand soldiers and twenty Noble Vampires with his bare hands.”
“And you Yuki, are that being whom every Vampire would try to keep away from the Sovereign.”
….although her expression and tone suggested she was extremely serious and honest at the moment, I couldn’t help but feel all this to be nothing but random shit.
Why am I stuck here?
