With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 90- Unexpected warning
If someone asks Yuki, about his parents then he can describe them in two words—strict and ambitious.
If his Father seemed to be more determined to drill discipline and dedication in Yuki, his mother had always been hell-bent on a single goal that Yuki had to achieve—to inherit the Kurokawa throne.
Yuki’s father never seemed much interested when it came to power and authority. Yuki couldn’t even remember that if his father ever tried drilling the importance of the throne in him or not.
Yuki’s father used to train him in a way, which didn’t include magic or magic equipment that’s why Yuki was able to survive his school bullying for so many years. In a way, his father taught him how to survive without the aid of magic—like he knew that Yuki would not awaken any strong skill.
However, apart from those training days, Yuki didn’t have any fond memories of his father, nor did it seem the old man cared much about Yuki as well.
That’s why, when suddenly Kurokawa Yuiichi appeared in the great hall and forwarded an objection toward Ryouya’s declaration; Yuki was a little surprised.
‘…so in the end, he also is like the rest of the family, huh?’ Yuki’s surprise subdued as soon as it emerged.
He indifferently looked at his old man and uncle standing a little further from each other, and carrying the same argument.
The second son of Ryouya—Hikaru composed himself thanks to Yuiichi’s timely intervention as he again spoke up,
“I am aware of my impudence but still I would like to recommend my son as the next head of the clan.”
“On what grounds are you claiming your son to be better than Yuki?” Ryouya asked. His tone carried nothing but indifference.
Hikaru shuddered but somehow held his gaze before responding, “Yuki has become a capable person in the past few months, but considering the history we share, I believe the first person he would exclude from the clan, would be you, Patriarch.”
“If that’s the reason for your concern, then don’t worry about that, Hikaru.” Ryouya rested his hand on Yuki’s shoulder before continuing, “If he has the strength to kick me or anyone out of the clan, then it simply means he is worthy to be called the Head. After all, it has always been the policy that the Strong rules and the Weak follow.”
Ryouya was not against the thought, rather he felt pride to think that his grandson might become so capable that one day he might beat him—one of the strongest hunters in the world.
If Yuki could become such a figure then Ryouya was sure, that the Kurokawa clan would elevate to far greater heights.
“If it’s like that, Patriarch, then I propose a duel. Yuki against Misaki.”
The said boy stepped forward with a strong and confident demeanor and glanced at Yuki like the latter was some kind of filth.
‘Pfft-‘ Yuki barely held himself from laughing aloud as he maintained a calm front and enjoyed the drama unfolding.
Ryouya, in response to his son’s argument, nodded, before he turned toward the audience and called out,
“If anyone else has any objection toward my decision or wants to settle any matter with Yuki, then please come forward.”
People began to murmur and whisper to each other. Some were merely enjoying the show and some indeed came here about some concerns involving Maya and Yuki.
It took some seconds but soon eight people walked forward and stood side by side.
Three of them were around in their mid-thirties while the other five seemed to be teenagers.
“Collectively asking, what are your goals?”
The brown head adult on the farthest left answered, “If Yuki loses to us, then he needs to submit himself to the police and atone for his sins.”
The teenage boy with red hair from the middle spoke for the rest of the youngsters, “If any of us defeats him, then he has to break up with Karuizawa Maya.”
Maya, who has been on the sidelines until now, frowned and was about to confront these rascals. However, before she could have moved, a slim hand stopped her path.
“You need to trust him, Maya. I am sure Yuki wouldn’t like it if you interfered now.” It was Kaede who came to stop Maya from making a rash decision that might complicate the situation even more.
Maya looked unconvinced, but Kaede’s following words, greatly relieved her, “Don’t worry; if things go south we can just annihilate everyone here.”
Seeing Kaede wink mischievously and suggesting something so brilliant made Maya reevaluate Kaede.
On the other side, hearing that these eight had two major concerns along with Hikaru’s claim, Ryouya turned toward Yuki,
“How about it, Yuki? Are you willing to fight them? Surely, you can deny if you want.”
Hikaru gritted his teeth seeing the Patriarch’s favorable behavior towards Yuki but he retained silence.
In response, Yuki glanced at the people opposing him for once and readily responded, “I will take them all at once. I think, mostly everyone thinks of me unworthy or incapable in one way or another, so this battle might help them realize the reality.”
Ryouya didn’t show any surprise. Rather he felt pride that his grandson challenged them all at once—a sign that he is a true Kurokawa. His eyes weren’t mistaken. Yuki indeed is the best option to inherit the throne.
Misaki gritted his teeth and mirrored his father, in annoyance. To think, this useless garbage has grown so dumb, that he would make such a delusional comment? Misaki indeed needed to show him, his place.
Regardless of what others thought, no one opposed Yuki’s challenge and stepped forward.
Yuki heaved a sigh took off his coat and handed it to the waiter standing nearby. Yuki didn’t miss the sight of his coat teleporting away to Maya in an instant.
He flashed a soft smile in her direction and told her with their telepathic connection,
‘This won’t take long…’
In response, Maya wished him luck—much to Yuki’s surprise. However, he was thankful that she didn’t stop him, as he expected her to.
He needed to deal with this sooner or later. If he wants to hold Kurokawa clan in his clutches then he needs to know the faces of those bugs who need to be repelled.
However, just as he was about to step forward, suddenly his father walked toward Yuki and halted only when he was mere a few inches away.
Yuki raised his guard and chanted a very thin yet potent barrier around him just in case—but his wariness was proven to be for naught as the older version of himself, just leaned toward him and whispered something that took Yuki off guard,
“Yuki….apart from Masaki, everyone is being mind-controlled here. If you may, don’t kill them and just hit their consciousness. I will relay the details afterward.”
Saying so, he walked toward the stage—leaving a dumbfounded Yuki behind.
What the heck with this situation?
