With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 75- Surrounded
There were certain laws that prohibited the use of magic in public and against a civilian it was taboo to initiate magic even if it was in self-defense.
The general masses dreaded the magic users. They didn’t respect their protectors but were rather terrified of them.
That was why, when Yuki found out that he nearly killed a civilian, he was contemplative about his choice of attack for a moment.
However, he wasn’t provided with the leisure to think about it anymore, as he heard several footsteps advancing in his direction.
“Oraaaa!” The first one to appear from the shadows was a blond young man, slightly older than Yuki—holding a pickaxe in his clutches and intending to hit him.
Yuki’s expression soured as he detected no mana emanating from the man. Without hesitation, he pivoted his body, lifted his right leg, and delivered a roundhouse kick to the advancing man’s right shoulder.
“Ugooh!!” The man was thrown meters away before he hit one of the pillars and naturally, lost consciousness.
Since Yuki didn’t have to restrain himself all his life, it was getting difficult to ascertain how hard he should hit to only incapacitate them.
Yuki knew that these people weren’t the main preparators behind this ambush. There was a high chance that they were being brainwashed using some spell, and that was why Yuki was hesitating to kill them.
Another man advanced at him, holding a metal rod, intending to bash Yuki’s head—only to find his stomach receiving a tightly held punch and dropping to the ground soon after.
A woman advanced at him holding a metal chair, but her foot slipped after she was hit on her feet by Yuki, and the lady fell flat on the ground.
Another man, and then another and some other—numerous people were now advancing in his direction alone. Their numbers already exceeded fifty as Yuki effortlessly countered them using his physical prowess to deal brutal damage to them.
However, things began to turn a little difficult when he saw, that even children joining the fray, leaving Yuki with no option but to hold back his punches and decide to escape.
Since only he was getting targeted then Yuki would rather search for the main antagonist than fight these manipulated civilians.
“Where the fuck you think, you are going?!”
“Come back here!!”
“UAAAAAHHHH!!”
Yuki didn’t pay attention to them and after jumping away from the people he leaped toward the other end of the hall and landed beside the barrier where Maya and Shio were standing.
“Yuki-sama!” Maya exclaimed as she tried reaching her Lord, who was just a moment ago, surrounded by the masses.
“Just stay inside and protect Shio for me, Maya. I will be back in a minute. ” Yuki extended a soft smile to ease her stress before he jumped away. A metal baseball bat swung at the spot where he once was.
The strange part was, that no one even batted an eye at the two individuals caged inside the barrier; even though, the barrier was visible to the naked eye.
Yuki’s suspicion was proven right. These people were manipulated to only target him—which makes things simple.
His feet danced around the ground floor of the mall, while his mind raced between the ideas through which he could bring forth the main criminals.
There were several floors in the mall, but Yuki had the feeling that these people wouldn’t be too far from the main entrance—so they could escape anytime.
In the first place, if they really have been overwhelmingly strong then they didn’t have to learn about EMP and manipulation. And considering the main entrance was the only possible route to leave the mall, his doubts seemingly began bending towards certainty.
‘Let’s see… ‘ After the last ambush, Yuki has been researching these mutants and how to counter mana blocking. Although he couldn’t come up with a solid answer regarding resistance, he got to know something important about these EMP signals
The closer you are to the emitter, the less you will feel its impact.
As such, Yuki chanted a small dome of raw mana on the tip of his finger while he ran all across the place without setting a particular direction as his destination.
Naturally, normal humans were of no comparison to the inhumane speed he adapted as such, apart from some throwables, Yuki was not having any difficulty in his search.
‘Hmmm… ‘ Upon reaching the elevator, Yuki noticed that the mana ball flickered and enraged near the area.
Yuki didn’t think twice before reeling his punch and advancing toward the elevator pod right in front of him.
However, before he could reach there two men, wearing all-black suits and glasses, dropped in front of him and began firing bullets at Yuki.
Yuki widened his eyes and chanted a barrier since it was far too late to dodge.
*TING* *TING*
Every time the bullet hits the thin shield, a ringing sound reverberates.
“Get out of the way!”
Yuki shouted, not at the two men, but the people advancing at him from behind. The fury in their eyes showed how they couldn’t see the gunmen.
Yuki gritted his teeth before he jumped sideways and allowed the stream of bullets to rain down on the people.
“Guhh!!”
“AGH!”
The high-intensity bullets, made to shatter barriers and monsters, were enough to bring down several of the people from the crowd before the two black-suited men turned the barrels and followed Yuki with their guns.
They weren’t leaving their spots and were shooting at the very spot where Yuki advanced.
Yuki could feel his fatigue accumulating but he somehow gathered all his strength in his legs and while sprinting, picked one of the steel rods these people brought.
“Agh….” A groan escaped his throat as he felt three bullets hitting his thigh, ankle, and side lower back.
Yuki could hear Maya’s scream but his consciousness was only awake to allow him to execute this task.
He didn’t falter and used all his strength to run back at the two gunmen after running a lap around the mall in an arc. Thanks to their symmetric shooting, the two firing lines never separated; providing Yuki enough chance to run in an arc and get back to them.
The two suited men raised their barrels after changing magazines and again started shooting in Yuki’s direction, however, what they didn’t expect was a massive fireball suddenly advancing in their direction.
The aggressors jumped toward their left at the same time and crashed into each other’s body upon fall.
“You two idiots are systematized twin dolls, huh?” Suddenly, the voice of their target resonated just from behind them. However, before the programmed humans could raise their weapons again, Yuki raised the metal bat and struck it on the left twin’s face with massive force—creating cracks in the tiles beneath his head.
The strike landed on the left one, but it was the right one who felt the impact and lost the strength to hold the gun anymore.
Yuki threw the already wasted metal bat before joining his palms and jumping into the air.
Utilizing all his strength stats, he landed the hammered strike on the right mutant—instantly killing the other one as well.
Just as Yuki finished off the two, he knelt on the ground while breathing heavily. Blood continued to drip down his body as he finally heard the doors of the elevator pod parting.
-To be continued.
