With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 74- Murder?
The swimsuit shopping was finally done as the two ladies exited the store with several shopping bags in their hold.
Yuki raised his brows as he asked why they didn’t call him for the bill payment.
“It’s not a tradition for a boyfriend to pay the bills, Yuki-kun. Maya-san has enough money with her to buy the whole store.”
“Oh, right. Maya has worked as a hunter for quite some time before enrolling right?”
Maya shyly nodded at that. Although she didn’t say it out loud—mostly the allowance she received from her family and the extra sum her father deposited in her account—despite her declining it many times—could easily allow her to live a comfortable life with her Lord.
However, she didn’t want to boast so she remained silent and followed the other two, to the next store.
“Hmm, let’s eat something first before we head for the next store?” Yuki suggested since he was feeling a little hungry already.
Although they had breakfast, Yuki found this shopping trip more exhausting than his regular training session.
Shio was about to suggest a restaurant nearby where the mushroom gratin was famous when suddenly they heard someone shouting.
“HELLLPPP HELP!!” The voice belonged to a man who was on the floor beneath them.
Since there was no method to peek at the ground floor, Yuki could only rely on the elevator to go down. However, Maya called him out and opened a portal.
“How convenient.” Shio chimed before the trio, stepped past the portal and landed on the ground floor, from where the loud yell arrived.
“Agh…” Just as they stepped on the ground floor, Shio fell to her knees with a painful groan leaving her lips. Her face went pale and bile began to well up her throat.
The nauseating sensation was the same for Maya and Yuki, but they were able to retain their composure as they sensed their surroundings.
“Someone is using an EMP. But who…” Yuki and the other two were familiar with this sensation of being influenced by this blockage of mana. Last time, when they were ambushed in the infirmary, the Mutant also used similar radiation to render their magic; useless.
However, the intensity, compared to the last time, was on a whole other level. This much radiation was nigh impossible for a single Mutant to release. Also, considering how no civilian was present on the ground floor, dictates only one thing,
“We are surrounded.”
Yuki helped Shio to stand up before he conjured a mana shield around her and Maya. Although the Barrier was not one of the same quality he could create under normal circumstances, it surely would negate the effect of EMP to a certain extent.
“Maya, can you use your magic now?” Maya’s forehead was drenched with sweat as she was already trying to summon another portal that could lead them outside.
However, “I am unable to…” Maya clenched her fist upon failing to conjure her spell.
A magician’s body reflexively utilizes all the available mana, in case of emergency, for survivability. That was why, even though Maya intended to create a portal, even if it damaged her, her body was rejecting such an attempt.
She was once again, couldn’t be any use of her Lord!
“Don’t worry. Just protect Shio, and I will take you both outside in no-”
Suddenly, Yuki had to halt his words as he suddenly jumped toward his left and dodged the incoming bullet in his direction.
Not only that, a stream of bullets flew in his direction which required Yuki to keep sprinting toward his left, to not get shot.
However,
“Guh!” Yuki stumbled on his feet as a bullet struck him in the thigh, making him crash to the nearby pillar.
“Yuki-sama!” Maya screamed before she tried to rush toward Yuki. However, she crashed against the barrier protecting them.
“Maya, no! Just stay there.” Yuki used healing magic to burn away the bullet and stop his bleeding. However, the healing magic was not at its best, which resulted in a small hole and clotted blood still visible on his thigh.
‘These aren’t ordinary bullets…these are highly classified anti-magician ammunition.’ To deal with the magicians on the battlefield, the government of every major country formulates their own countermeasures.
EMP and Enhanced Assault Rifles with faster firing rates were examples of the military-grade tools, that the ambushers were using.
“Show yourself!” Yuki called out as he used his sensory magic, which he recently developed, to sense any magician around. However, he found none.
‘Are all of them just normal humans?’ He wondered as he faced gunshots never ceasing to target him.
Yuki was currently taking cover behind the pillar. However, given the ferocity of the onslaught, the pillar wouldn’t last long.
‘System.’ Calling out, Yuki went through the panels within half a second,

His stamina and speed were interrelated. The more stamina he has, the faster he can go. And for how long depends on both, endurance and stamina. Although it was his way of understanding things, Yuki knew there was no reasonable way of describing his stats.
‘Add all the points into stamina.” To hit the enemy, he needed to be faster than those bullets.
Suddenly, a surge of energy rushed through his body before Yuki heard a big chunk of pillar dropping toward his head.
He didn’t create a barrier, rather used his enhanced speed to run just ahead. There were pillars all around the ground floor, constructed in a round path.
The bullets were mostly hitting the pillars since Yuki was shifting his way of path inconsistently. His speed was way faster than before. His figure was barely perceivable by the eyes of someone on the level of Maya. He was practically ghost-walking through the whole place.
‘Found you…’ Finally, Yuki found an opening and discovered the source of the attack as he created a triple-layered barrier and pushed it toward the gunman.
And as he expected, the bullets were only colliding with his barrier, meanwhile, Yuki had already left the protection of the barrier by utilizing every ounce of his stats and drifted toward the attacker from the left.
“GHUKKK!!” The firing subdued as Yuki punched the person, hiding behind the reception bracket and firing the bullets until now.
The man was in his early forties and wearing casual clothes. Not to mention, he was extremely fragile, to the point where a single punch from Yuki was able to break several ribs of the man and send him flying across the reception area.
The man dropped to the ground before Yuki noticed the wallet that dropped from the man.
Yuki picked up the wallet and checked the identity of the man:
[Haruta Kouske]
[Senior General Manager]
[Tmeez Pvt Ltd.]
..
Yuki’s eyes widened as he looked at the man and wondered,
‘Wait..did I just kill a civilian?’
