With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 71- First class~2!
Mental interference magic works like a virus, in most cases. A virus, which is planted inside the target’s head, requires only minuscule space to settle in. Once a virus situates itself inside the target’s mind, the whole mindscape of the person becomes an open playground for the spell caster to venture.
Now it depends on the chanter’s level of proficiency with the skill. If the spell caster is precise and fast enough, they would get control of their target’s mind and memories. Through the magic, one could view, alter, and add memories to the target.
There are several degrees of skills related to cognition. And the one who attacked Yuki, has already transcended to the peak of Mental interference.
“…how do you know that it’s the same person, you are thinking them to be?” Yuki couldn’t help asking Kazuya as he sat opposite the man—who was giving a vague explanation about the skills.
Hearing the query, Kazuya’s eyes dimmed a bit as a sigh released through the small gap of his lips.
“It’s easy, Yuki. Not many people are blessed with the skill to tamper with someone else’s mind. And taking the level of torture you faced, I could only think of that person.”
Yuki raises his brows before asking, “I know you cannot tell me their name…but can you tell me, what kind of person they are?”
Yuki was pushing his luck to discover as many things as he could about this mysterious existence that one-sidedly trampled over Yuki. The temptation of revenge aside, Yuki wanted to first secure a way to defend against such a bothersome foe, who could easily read all his memories without showing their face.
Kazuya remained silent a bit; contemplating whether to answer or not. However, in the end, he decided to leave a word of advice,
“I suggest, you don’t do anything that crosses that person’s boundary. Even if you are the one who was wronged here if it would come to it, don’t forget, the main management of this Tower would always take that person’s side.”
Yuki’s brows elevated in surprise upon hearing those claims. A person recognized by the central administration of the tower?
‘He is an S-rank for sure…and possibly someone with a strong background..’
Yuki didn’t ponder on the matter for long since his focus remained on Kazuya’s teaching,
“Yuki-kun, can you recall the three basic spells every awakened is taught, which originate from one’s mana, and not their skill?”
Yuki shook his head without hesitation. While he was aware that there are certain skills that every awakened is being taught by either their parents, teacher, or mentor, he didn’t have such a person in life to teach him that.
“I don’t know, sir.”
Kazuya didn’t seem surprised as he spoke again, “Those three skills are: Detection, Enhancement, and Efficiency. The names are self-explanatory, so let’s focus on Detection for now.”
As Kazuya spoke, a diagram sprang from the terminal resting in his hand. There were three holograms in it, and Yuki could vaguely understand the meaning behind them.
“The first one is Scouting. In this, you spread your mana like a sheet and under a certain diameter, you can detect anything and everything which possesses magical essence.”
“Second, Identification. Based on your sensory input, you can recognize one’s mana, and a part of your mind stores that presence. It helps you recognize a person through their magical presence rather than their face.”
“And third would be Intent. You can sense someone based on their intent alone. Those with strong emotions, mainly malice, would alert you immediately if you have trained your senses in a certain manner.”
“Our focus would be learning about all these three steps so when the time comes you not only would identify a person through their magical presence but also could sense their intent and arrange barrier magic accordingly.”
Although Yuki wanted to ask, how all this would help him defend against mental assaults, he limited his curiosity to himself and listened to the man, intently.
The class about observatory skills continued until seven in the evening before Yuki was told to return to his room and report to him tomorrow at the same hour.
‘Thankfully I got this book…’ Holding the book of mental interference magic, Yuki grinned ear to ear.
Although he initially intended to learn a new skill only after mastering the Flame Magic, he decided to go against his plans. To prepare against any kind of foe, Yuki needs to widen his reach and work extra harder than before.
He contacted his sister and informed her that he wouldn’t have dinner with her tonight since he had to train.
Don’t push yourself too much, Yuki—was what she responded before he assured her and disconnected the call.
Once he entered the room, he found Maya was absent, or more like she must be still in the library as she informed him earlier.
Yuki walked behind her and hugged his girlfriend gently,
“Ah, finally feels like home.” Shio wasn’t surprised since she sensed his presence as she adjusted her posture and allowed him to embrace her comfortably.
“You worked hard. Welcome back.” Placing her hand on his cheek, she greeted him.
“It was tiring Shio…I feel exhausted.” Yuki rested his head on her shoulder as he sighed.
Shio turned toward him before embracing the big baby in a warm hug as she patted him, “My poor Yuki-kun. Do you want me to pamper you?”
Yuki looked at her with an upturned glance with a mischievous look lingering in his eyes, as he suggested,
“Well…there is something you can do to encourage me.”
A little late, but Shio understood the meaning behind his words, brightening her face with deep crimson shade.
The way Yuki’s hand crept along with her curves and caressed her butt made her body hot. It would be a lie to say that she wasn’t aroused…more so when she has gotten the taste of physical pleasure recently.
“B-But Yuki-kun…Maya-san would return a-anytime…”Yuki grinned at her before he made her turn toward the kitchen slab and informed her,
“Don’t worry…it won’t take long.”
