With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 59- Old connection?
It was surprising how so much news regarding the Kurokawa clan came to light, yet the eldest son of the family—Kurokawa Yuiichi, always remains in the shadow. Even at the time, when his son was getting disowned by the family, the eldest one just shared his assent to the decision and showed his disdain toward the weak.
Even though it has been more than seven years since Yuki left his house, neither of his parents ever tried contacting him…why?
The reason was simple. They had no authority in their hands and were merely under the direct control of the central administration. Just a word from the patriarch and Yuiichi would be available to sacrifice anything, including his own life, in a breath.
Yuki didn’t have any hope or grudge toward his parents since he had long discerned their position in the clan and the family.
And also, how much he meant to them.
The time he awakened with his good-for-nothing skill, he knew, his parents would be the last people to support him.
All these years, the only attachment that reminded him of that house was his younger brother and Maya, who was also plucked out of his life when he was disowned. But…about his parents, then Yuki had no such troubling emotions that could have made him try and reach out to them on his own accord, until now.
Then…why all of a sudden, did the spineless father of his, call to inquire about Yuki?
“Probably because of Yuki-sama’s recent achievements. They must be thinking of reattaching their severed knots, since the Kurokawa clan, sooner or later, would try reaching out for Yuki-sama.” Maya’s words were to the point and her narrowed gaze was evidence of how frustrated she was upon realization.
Amaye had heard some vague reports from Yuki, about how he was doing well in the Tower, which made her think in that way as well. While it was true that Yuki’s father was a timid man, his wits and cunningness were not hidden from her.
“How ugly of them…” Shio, unlike Maya, wasn’t able to keep her emotions in check as she clenched her fist and her face began to turn red in fury.
“I can’t believe that after abandoning a child who didn’t even reach the age of ten, they have the gall to approach Yuki-kun like nothing happened and he still is their obedient son!”
Yuki couldn’t help sighing as he patted the girl to calm her down. His gaze wandered toward Maya, and as he expected her demeanor was anything but approachable at the moment. If not for the barrier he had erected around his Nee-san, she might have fainted from the overwhelming amount of mana residuals floating around the two.
Amaye, on the other hand, was surprised to see this new side of Shio and also, the way Maya reacted signified how much the girl cared about Yuki.
She couldn’t have been any more elated.
“I know you guys are angry at them…but there is no point in that. After all, I don’t consider that man as my father, so why would I get influenced by what he suddenly decides to do?”
Yuki was clear with his take on this matter. The day, he was thrown away, Yuki also completely tore himself away from his so-called family. He accepted their reality a while ago, so this resolve didn’t come with any difficulties.
Maya and Shio, somewhat calmed down seeing how casual and unaffected Yuki seemed, even though, his biological parents had tried reaching out to him, after so long.
“There is a chance that he may be forced by the Council members as well,” Amaye said, in a blank tone.
How couldn’t she be aware of how wicked the council members were and how low they could get, for the betterment of the clan? She even suspects, that the Kurokawa clan was the perpetrator behind the ambush she faced.
“True…but that doesn’t matter. In a month, when I would join the Christmas celebration, I would officially announce that my ties with the Kurokawa clan are now, completely cut off.”
Yuki would become an adult this Christmas, that’s why the power the clan holds, to pull him back under the clan name, would be completely destroyed once he publicly announces his detachment.
“But, Yuki-sama…do you think, they would let you go easily?”
More than Yuki, Maya was clearly aware of clan functioning and the ridiculous rules they possess. And when an emerging dual awakened high-ranking asset, such as Yuki would decide to entirely sever every connection with the clan…it sure would turn hectic.
Hearing her concern, Yuki barely held himself from snorting.
“Do they have any choice? I abhor them, and that’s what only matters. True, there are numerous benefits to being affiliated with the Kurokawa clan, but that doesn’t matter to me, now. ”
There was a time, when Yuki might have wavered, saying such bold words, but not now and not ever would be. He didn’t seek revenge but it wouldn’t affect him if the Kurokawa clan plummeted the very next morning.
He just desired his serene life. And with these three women, by his side, Yuki would make sure that things would remain under his control.
*Knock* *Knock*
Hearing the knock, out of the blue, Yuki frowned and before Shio could get up, he gestured toward her and went to open the door.
*Click*
Pulling the door, the person on the other side, made Yuki quite surprised.
“Professor Kazuya?” It was flabbergasting to see the senior professor himself here.
The blue-haired gentleman, had his hand folded behind his back as he looked at Yuki with a neutral look,
“I heard that your sister arrived.”
Yuki blinked in surprise before nodding, “Just an hour ago.”
Yuki didn’t have any idea why Kazuya would be here to ask such a trivial question…however, his following words were enough to clear all his doubts.
“Both of you, please come with me. There is someone eager to meet you.”
