With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 40- Don\'t worry...
For the next thirty minutes, Maya continued to tell Yuki about everything. She had imagined this kind of scenario before, but every time she thought about telling him the truth, Maya believed Yuki wouldn’t trust even a word of hers at all. However, currently seeing how sincerely and patiently he was hearing her out…Maya felt a glimmer of hope shining on the horizon.
She narrated the reason why she needed to distance herself from Yuki even though they had been such close friends since childhood and had a bond that far surpassed any relationship connected because of political purposes.
Maya was aware of her mother’s personality. Even before Yuki didn’t awaken his trait, her mother didn’t like him much. And after Yuki was evaluated with a rankless skill, her dislike turned into disgust. Maya’s mother wasn’t averse to the idea of forming a connection with the Kurokawa family, rather she liked the second child of the clan and treated him like her son, but she just didn’t want to have Yuki around Maya at all.
That was why Maya had to pretend that she didn’t want to associate herself with Yuki anymore. To make them believe her statement, she never left the house out of her selfishness and never tried reaching out to Yuki until they entered the Tower.
“It was so difficult…for me…to know that Yuki-sama had to suffer every day…yet I wasn’t able to do anything… ” Even the teachers who were on surveillance seemed to have become slightly emotional.
Not just because of the story, but the usual stone-cold Maya sobbing so pitifully was extremely disheartening.
Streams of tears were trailing down her cheeks, as she continued her story.
“I knew I should have tried looking out for you somehow…but I-I was scared…terrified of losing you…” The thought of something happening to her lord always restricted Maya from taking the step that she took today.
She didn’t even realize when Shio parted her eyes and began listening to the sufferings Maya had gone through. Maya didn’t notice when her hand was grabbed by Yuki. She never realized how she confessed how she still deeply admires and loves him. She just vented everything. She had this very last chance and didn’t want to hold back at all.
After an hour or so, Maya concluded her story with a faint apology, “Sorry for everything…but believe me, I always wished for your best, Yuki-sama.”
The office room turned entirely silent after that. Some professors had a concerned look on their faces and the man who had brought them here seemed to have a tinge of sadness lingering deep down his eyes.
Shio always had stains of tears at the corner of her eyes as she gazed at Maya with a sympathetic look.
The only person who remained silent and unfazed from beginning to end was Yuki.
No one knew the reason for it but it definitely was strange that the man in question didn’t show any kind of expression by the saddening life of Maya at all.
If not for his initiative to hold Maya’s hand, it wouldn’t have been too unbelievable to think that Yuki wasn’t listening to Maya at all.
“Maya.” Like a single stone throne in a calm lake, the noiseless room was disturbed by the serious tone spoken by Yuki.
Maya slowly lifted her head to meet his gaze before she heard Yuki asking something she didn’t expect, “For you…who is more important? Me or your family? Please think carefully before you-”
“It’s you…nothing is more important than Yuki-sama for me… ” Despite her weak sobbing tone, there was a tinge of determination in her voice which told Yuki how sure she was about this decision.
Yuki sighed, before he draped his hand over her shoulder and pulled Maya closer to him as he spoke to her in a softer tone, “Then leave everything to me…”
‘Ah… ‘ This warmth…this familiar yet distant warmth…how long it has been?
Maya couldn’t think of anything at the moment. For her, there was nothing real more than her beloved and this familiar warmth he was providing her with.
The state of her mind was not on track. Sorrow, regret, pleasure, happiness, relief…and everything piled up which caused her to feel sleepy really soon.
If this was a dream then Maya wanted to keep watching it for the rest of her life…

“Yuki-kun… ” After some moments of silence, Shio whispered in a low tone so as to not disturb Maya.
Her tone signified many things but Yuki assumed she might have been insecure about this development between Maya and Yuki.
“Shio….give me some time. I would explain ever-”
“It’s not about that Yuki-kun. I just wanted to ask if there is any way to not let Maya-san leave the Tower. ”
Yuki was surprised. While he could feel that Shio was feeling a little insecure through the bond they shared, she preferred to not talk about it and rather chose to focus on matters she found more concerning at the moment.
‘Always sweet and considerate… ‘ Yuki sighed before he embraced Shio and brought her close to him just like Maya before he replied in a soft tone, “Don’t worry…I will take care of everything. ”

After half an hour, both of the ladies had already fallen asleep in his arms while Yuki sat there without a single movement.
His eyes were staring at the wall opposite him without any particular emotion filling them. However, his mind was crowded with thoughts. Clustered with numerous decisions and steps he needs to take to ensure nothing like what happened last night, occurs again.
And for that, he first needed to ensure a certain someone’s safety.
‘Nee-san… ‘
“Student Yuki. Please walk through the door. Alone. ”
Hearing the announcement, Maya woke up instantly.
The embarrassment and fluster she felt being so close to Yuki were pushed away since her point of concern remained in something else.
“Yuki-sama… ”
“Don’t worry, they won’t hurt me. Just take care of yourself and Shio.” As Yuki said he squeezed the girl a little with a warm look directed at her.
Maya reluctantly nodded before she supported the sleeping Shio’s head so Yuki could get up before Maya slowly allowed Shio to use her lap as a pillow.
‘Seriously, this girl… ‘ Maya couldn’t help sighing as she gazed at the smiling face of Shio who was sleeping without a concern in the world.
Yuki chanted an invisible barrier around the two just in case before he took a step toward the interrogation room.
After just over a week in the Tower, he was already labeled as a criminal.
