- With great powers, comes a great harem!
- Chapter 39- I know what\\\'s best for her.
The news about what transpired in the infirmary shook not only the academy but two prominent clans of Japan as well.
The goons which were sent to silence Yuki, were something the lady of the Karuizawa family, or to be precise, Maya’s mother has formulated.
The reason, that despite having so many resources to stand on the top rankings of the hierarchy, Maya’s mother only sent a low-ranking mutant to carry out the mission, stems from the fact that her original goal was something else.
She wanted to affirm whether Maya had really gotten over Yuki or not.
And now, her curiosity was satiated.
“So that’s how it is huh…” Currently, in the head position of the meeting room, the middle-aged patriarch of the family sat with a dignified aura surrounding him as he heard the information relating to the incident that occurred in the infirmary of the Tower last night.
The patriarch—Karuizawa Hotarou was in general a very strict and disciplined man. Someone to be feared and respected. He holds the title of the ‘Unbreachable’ since in the past once when an S-rank gate broke, he was amongst those hunters who held all the monsters and gained this fame and title.
Being in such a high position, Hatarou wished to marry his only daughter, someone worthy to be called the son-in-law of the family and a man on whom Maya could depend, not the other way around.
That was why, he had decided a long time ago to annul the engagement between Maya and the disowned heir of the Kurokawa clan since that person with whom Hatatoru had tied his precious daughter was nothing but useless garbage.
However, Hotarou’s perception has begun to shift for some days since the time Yuki joined the tower. He have been receiving daily reports of the boy and his little princess for the past week and could tell that Yuki has somehow changed himself for good.
“Anata…we need to remove Maya from that boy’s clutches…as I thought, my silly daughter still hasn’t grown up enough to understand what is right for her.”
The blond beauty sitting on his right who was professionally Hotarou’s adviser and personally his wife, voiced her thoughts.
Unlike Hotarou, Maya’s mother—Karuizawa Miyako just plainly hated Yuki through and through for several reasons but those reasons were nothing in the Patriarch’s eyes to get troubled about.
“Remove you say…but is there actually any need?” The official members sitting on either side of the long table gasped in astonishment upon hearing Hotarou’s words.
Miyako’s golden brows frowned upon hearing the words while she maintained her gaze on her husband, waiting ‘patiently’ for him to continue.
“My aversion to that boy stems from his weakness…his background doesn’t matter until he can be strong enough to protect my daughter from any possible threat.”
The tension in the air grew heavier hearing those words coming out of that person whom possibly no one could outrightly retort.
Miyako saw this from afar…yet hearing it from her husband, she was barely able to control her agitation.
“My apologies for saying this, my lord, but…there are better partners out there who could far surpass that disowned child of the Kurokawa clan. Not only personal skills but their family would provide great support in the development of our clan as well.”
One of the men who had a partially bald head spoke in a slightly hurried tone with beads of sweat being constantly wiped off by his handkerchief.
“Far better partner you say, Rokoto-san but what I am trying to find here is someone who could make my daughter happy. It was proven last night that Maya still dearly cares for that brat…and if the same brat comes out to be an unparalleled underdog…would there be any reason to reject him as my son-in-law?”
Hotarou was aware of what plot was going on in the background…what candidates these people had selected with the cooperation of the Kurokawa family. But for Hotaoru, nothing matters more than his own judgment.
And currently, his judgment aligns with Yuki’s chances to become someone actually worthy of being called Maya’s partner.

Back in the tower, Yuki, Maya, and Shio—the three witnesses and victims of the incident that transpired last night were still in the main administration office, surrounded by many gazes.
The three teenagers were treated and were allowed to take naps if they wanted but to let them walk out before the interrogation finishes was never an option.
Other than Shio (who fell asleep without even realizing) Maya and Yuki remained seated all night silently.
Maya was contemplative about what to say after so many things had happened. It was given that by now, her family and her father must have already heard about this incident and the chances of her dropping out of Tower wouldn’t be too shocking of news.
“Are you alright?” Maya blinked in surprise hearing a familiar voice being directed at her before she hurriedly turned her head only to find a pair of purest eyes gazing at her…in concern?
How long it was…how long it had been since she had heard such a tone from her lord? Maya didn’t remember but at that moment, she prioritized answering the question.
“Yes I am fife…”
Great, she bit her tongue and stumbled like an idiot!
She had one chance…just a single three-worded reply…yet she messed it up!
She expected her Yuki-sama to turn his gaze back toward the sleeping Shio but his eyes remained fixed on her.
For once, Maya genuinely thought that Yuki actually wasn’t asking her which was quite implausible considering there was no one behind her. But before she could have said Yuki once again spoke…making her mind numb.
“Can you tell me why you saved me…and, please try to be honest this time. I am tired of your lies Maya.”
…everything was ruined. There was no need to keep up her facade since today might be the last day she would be seeing her beloved. That was why, Maya decided to tell him.
Tell him why she had been so rude with him. Tell him why she has ignored him all the time. Why wasn’t she there at his worst and why did she approach him when Yuki was finally rising to his best.
She needed…no wanted to let him know everything.
“Yuki-sama… I…”
