With great powers, comes a great harem! - Chapter 35- Ambush~1?
“There’s no need to panic Shio. I am perfectly fine to have the medicine.” I assured the girl for the nth time as I supported my back on the headboard to get my pain-reducing medicines.
“But-but… the doctor said you need to keep your body movements to a minimum. Here let me feed it to you. ” I sighed seeing her red and slightly swollen eyes which have turned to be like this because of how much she worries about me needlessly.
Well, it makes me feel fuzzy when I see someone so genuinely concerned about me but I don’t want to see my girlfriend cry, more so, because of me.
I didn’t resist much and parted my lips to allow her kindness.
Shio smiled in glee before she stepped forward and helped me take the pill and water.
She did try healing me with her spells but the burns were so deeply engraved in my body that it was almost impossible to treat me in one go. Not even the nurse said anything about me leaving the infirmary today.
I could have used my Absolute Healing to get over this farce but it would have been too suspicious. Couldn’t even call it a natural regeneration. It would have been nothing less than a miracle to overcome such grave injuries within half a day.
So I decided to lie down and enjoy the hospitality and the services provided by my beautiful girlfriend.
Seriously, just looking at Shio doing Shio things makes me feel several emotions. Amused, warm, and especially greedy. I just couldn’t get enough of her.
“Yuki-kun? Is there something on my face?” Shio, who was wearing a standard maid uniform and had her hair tied in a small bun with a frill hanging down her forehead, asked with a tilt of her head.
“Don’t mind me. I am just marveling at the sight perfect for my recuperation.”
It may be cheesy but I didn’t lie to her. And seeing her falling to the chair and eyes blankly fixated on me I knew it was worth speaking the truth.
Shio’s blushing face is a sweet of which I could happily get addicted. She’s just so precious that I couldn’t help teasing her from time to time.
“Yuki-kun…you are getting bolder in your flirting…”
“Do you hate it?” Asking her with my brows raised I only got a small shake on her head in response.
As I said, painfully adorable.
“…I will bring something to eat, Yuki-kun.” Knowing full well that this trip was more because she wanted to cool down her head, I nodded in response before Shio drifted away.
‘Seriously….even after we have gone past that phase…’ Even though I and Shio have crossed the ultimate boundary between a man and a woman, she grows flustered over such small teasing.
But well, I like this side of hers as well along with that wild Shio who appears only when we both get naked and dirty.
‘Damn…need to think about something else… ‘ The hospital clothes were thin and exposing a tent for every passerby to gaze upon wasn’t a good idea.
I hurriedly turned my head elsewhere to distract my mind.
‘She’s still here as well huh… ‘ Seeing the last bed still occupied by the patient who was brought along made me rethink my method of defeating her.
‘I did miscalculate the strength but still… ‘ In my last assault when I conjured a heavy barrier above the girl named Kuroi, I didn’t work much over the strength and efficiency. I just desired to crush her and her report states that I indeed have crushed something inside of her.
Her ribs to be precise and collar bone.
She was bandaged from top to bottom as per what Shio told me. Since I couldn’t move much I didn’t get to check up on her however it seemed she was in a pretty bad state.
‘Well, it was spar so everything goes… ‘ My eyes drifted elsewhere when suddenly I noticed something at the corner of my eye.
‘Hmm?’ Turning to look at the table beside my bed, I found something that definitely wasn’t there before.
An envelope.
It was similar to what I got some days ago regarding the warning that I would get targeted by the students and such.
I did a quick assessment of the envelope through my malice detection barrier before I took hold of the envelope.
‘Well figures… ‘ There was no name of the sender.
I tore the envelope open and found a folded letter resting inside of it. I was about to unfold the letter and read the content when suddenly…
“Time for medicine. Study all you want after getting treated.”

[Third Person POV: ]
Yuki annoyingly looked at the nurse who snatched the letter away from him and urged him to get laid down.
Yuki didn’t say anything and followed her words.
The nurse took out a syringe from the box and injected some liquid inside it before the needle went inside Yuki’s skin, blending with his blood.
Once done, the nurse glanced at Yuki sneakily before she left his bed to attend to the other patients.
Yuki didn’t say anything and just remained lying down on the bed. Since he was already pretty much tired, drowsiness caught up to him and soon Yuki fell asleep.
****
It has been some hours since Shio has been sitting by Yuki’s side silently.
When she returned with rice balls, she found Yuki was already asleep. Since he hasn’t eaten much since morning because of the spar he needed to participate in, Shio thought to wake him up and feed him some rice balls
However, “Don’t wake him up since the medicine would work better if he remains asleep.”
The nurse didn’t let her wake Yuki up and considering his health, Shio also didn’t insist. She patiently sat by his side, with her eyes never leaving his face.
No one came to disturb them, fortunately, as the evening soon approached.
The sky turned dark yet Yuki hadn’t woken up at all. It had already been six hours since he fell asleep yet he didn’t wake to even drink water or even flinch in his sleep
He was breathing evenly yet it was too systematic to consider it normal.
Shio’s frown deepened as she realized that there was no one else in the infirmary other than the staff members and despite not having any work, none of them were leaving at all.
‘Inspect.’ Casting a low-grade spell, she assessed Yuki’s body only to get her eyes widened and face pale.
Yuki was poisoned.
It was curable and Yuki’s natural immunity wouldn’t let the poison spread so easily. Shio just needed to cast her best healing spell and-
“Nu-uh, young lady~Not so fast~”
*****
A/N: – Shio is kinda dumb and slow so don’t blame her for noticing it so late.
