- Chapter 32- True strength of the failure~2!
“Woah…” Yuki couldn’t help but marvel at the sight of the sixth-round rival between Maya and a raven-haired swordsman named Akisu who generally remains by Ryan’s side.
By no means, Akisu was weak. His Blade Dance technique allows him to project fifteen blades made out of sheer mana at once and target the enemy from different angles, rendering them confused.
However, Maya was the worst matchup for someone like Akisu who works solely on his senses to decide his target and aim at it with his all.
Maya had an affinity for Space. Other than teleportation, she could even make tangible or intangible things vanish and turn those attacks back at the opponent.
She didn’t even flinch for a moment and the match came to its conclusion by the third minute.
It wasn’t a spar, but rather a one-sided beatdown.
However, Akisu didn’t seem demotivated or annoyed by his defeat rather a gleam of determination could be seen in his eyes that told that the swordsman was prepared to improve himself.
‘He’s an admirable guy.. .’
“Next, Shirazawa Yuki and Hiyashi Kuroi, step forward. ”
Hearing his name, Yuki got up before he walked across the small audience and towed to the arena.
Yuki and his opponent have already worn their safety guards and the peculiar chip at the back of their necks which was there to protect the student if any lethal attack gets directed at them.
The participants of the eighth round have already started to prepare but Yuki’s concern remained on his opponent for the time being.
Facing a rival and facing a rival who has a grudge against you, were completely different things which made Yuki slightly tense.
Regardless, as they walked into the blue arena with a red border, the barrier surrounded the two which would restrict any outside interference.
The arena was about 12m X 8m in dimension so there was enough room for them to spar freely. And the barricade would stop any spell from reaching the other students.
Rules have been already sorted. Either to knock out your enemy or make them surrender. The time limit was half an hour and until that time if no conclusion draws, both contestants would gain equal points.
The said points would help the person in their reevaluation and not just the winning party in spar would gain the points. It all depends on how much effort one puts into the battle.
Yuki has already done stretching but still for the last-moment preparation he did some light hops at his place while his opponent stood all composed and silent with a small smirk adorning her lips.
‘I shouldn’t have said that… ‘ Remembering the last remark Yuki threw at the girl, he winced slightly since the brunette girl named Kuroi didn’t take Yuki’s words as a mere joke.
Regardless, he had no reason nor intention to back out.
“Students, ready? Begin!” As the instructor’s voice echoed in the arena, Yuki created a barrier to protect his face since the girl have chanted a fireball within half a second after the commencement.
*Sh* *Bhook*
The translucent shield expanded the fireball flames and the attack was subdued in no time. It was fascinating to see how quickly her attack advanced but Yuki was prepared as well.
Shifting on his feet, he thought of launching forward and using his shield to push the girl, off her guard.
But soon a chill ran down his spine as he felt mana surrounding him and so was an immense amount of heat.
“Cardinal Flames!” Yuki barely had the time to hear the name of the spell from the chanter before he jumped from his spot to dodge the huge fireballs advancing from his left and right.
The reason he didn’t crouch was because the platform where he stood had begun to boil up as well, making it entirely impossible to stand in the same spot.
‘Wait…she said Cardinal…!’ The realization struck a little late and before he could have properly dodged it, a huge boulder-shaped flame ball hit him from above.
“Agh… ” Yuki groaned as his body was once again planted on the ground which was boiling already, melting his uniform which was made from one of the strongest materials.
His back was scorched by now and so was his front as painful grunts left his throat.
“Give up…you won’t be able to overcome my flames. ” Despite barely, he still was able to hear Kuroi’s words of the proposal but like hell, Yuki was going to give up just now.
“Holy Sphere of Protection.’ As he muttered under his breath, a cyan-shaded sphere surrounded Yuki, dissipating the very last ounce of elemental magic from around him.
‘Self-recovery… ‘ Using his healing aspect, Yuki healed himself to the point where it doesn’t get suspicious in the eyes of the spectators. His burned marks were still there but the damage on his bones and muscles have been more or less repaired within seconds.
“Guhhh… ” Hoarse moans left his lips as he somehow got back on his feet while struggling mid-way.
The sphere around him disappeared, revealing the tattered Yuki, whose tracksuit was burned from places and showcasing his muscles from underneath.
His face was slightly redder than before, however, Yuki was stable enough to continue the battle.
Kuroi’s expression darkened at the sight of Yuki standing back up despite her launching one of her strongest spells and it even landed on the target perfectly.
“Doesn’t matter.” Kuroi was ranked fourth before Yuki arrived and her rank wasn’t something given to her as a donation. She has earned it through her performance and now she would show what Hiyashi Kuroi was capable of.
It took more than half a second this time but it was enough for Kuroi to entrap Yuki.
“Cardinal Flames!” She deliberately shouted the spell name aloud and as she thought, despite Yuki’s vision not cleared up until now, he dashed away from his spot to save himself from the attack.
‘Heeh~’ But it was Kuroi’s distraction since she never needed to shout in the first place.
‘Now block this!’ With her raised hand pushed downwards, Kuroi released the blanket of flames she had conjured at the same place she expected Yuki to be.
It was her strongest spell and the attack from which no one until now has come out unscathed.
But it was then, that Kuroi noticed that there was a smirk on Yuki’s face…and soon she would know the reason behind his confidence.

A/N: – I hope the chapter didn’t bore you. I would wrap it up in the next one. There would be a lot of drama among the clan members and between Maya and Yuki as well
Drop a comment if you are excited~
