- Chapter 88: Appearance Of Snow White's Mother.
Appearance Of Snow White’s Mother.
“Welcome back, dear guests.”
Upon arriving at the inn, we were greeted by a waitress with long, silver hair tied up in a bun at the back of her head.
“Mom.”
“…Huh?”
Hearing Himeno’s words, I couldn’t help but be surprised.
“Himeno’s… mom?”
“Yes. I live and work here at the inn in Hakone. I had a day off yesterday.”
Looking closely, the resemblance between Himeno and the waitress was striking. She looked like an adult version of Himeno.
“Are you Takashi-kun, the one dating Himeno?”
“Huh? Yes.”
Although they just started dating yesterday, it seems Himeno has already informed her mother.
“I am Himeno’s mother, Shirayuki Sophia.”
The innkeeper introduced herself with a deep bow.
This person is Himeno’s mother, and as Hinata mentioned, she is a woman with a mature charm.
It’s unclear whether Sophia actually seduced Himeno’s or Hinata’s father, but given her adult allure, most men would likely fall for her if approached.
In fact, it might even be the man who makes the first move.
“It seems you treasure Himeno very much. Thank you.”
“Well, she’s my girlfriend.”
“Ah…”
After letting go of each other’s hands and ceasing the embrace, I pulled Himeno close to me by the shoulder.
Meeting Himeno’s mother on the second day of our relationship was unexpected. Yet, here we were, and I had to act appropriately. Himeno probably knew her mother worked at this inn, but maybe she hesitated to mention it, fearing I would decline the trip. Regardless, I felt it was important to have a proper conversation with Sophia, especially considering the unexpected encounter.
“It’s been since spring break that you two last met, right? You should catch up.”
Talking with Sophia was crucial now, and Himeno could always talk with me. If we missed this chance, the next time would be during summer vacation. So, I decided to prioritize conversing with Himeno’s mother.
“Mom, I missed you.
“I missed you too.”
Even though we were at the entrance of the inn, they embraced each other tightly. It looked like an emotional reunion between a mother and her daughter.
Yet, deep down, she couldn’t shake the anger she felt towards her father. She never allowed Himeno’s mother to live with them, despite them being a family. I hadn’t met him yet, but the thought that he might have suggested Sophia have an abortion fueled my resentment. Sophia, however, must have firmly rejected such a proposal.
Himeno and I crossed paths because she lived alone. If she had been living with her mother, we might never have met. Witnessing the tearful embrace between them, it was clear that both mother and daughter wished to live together. The desire to cohabit as a family was entirely natural.
In my own life, I also had a yearning to show my face to my long-unseen parents.
“Mom…”
Although it wasn’t an absolute impossibility to meet, the infrequent reunions seemed to render Himeno somewhat speechless. While I understood the situation, a twinge of jealousy crept in. Despite the inherent differences between love for parents and romantic love, I found myself desiring additional affection from her.
Perhaps my possessiveness was surfacing. Nevertheless, winning a trip through a lottery and ending up at this inn felt like destiny, especially now that I had the chance to meet Himeno’s mother after starting our relationship.
