- Chapter 54: Snow White's First Love.
Snow White’s First Love.
“Are you awake, Taka-kun?”
I ask, but there’s no response from Takashi lying in bed.
Considering his steady breathing, he’s probably already asleep.
There’s no clock in the room, and I don’t want to disturb him by turning on the smartphone screen to check the time, but it’s likely past midnight.
Usually, I’d be asleep by now, but tonight is different. I can’t bring myself to sleep with my beloved Takashi beside me.
The embarrassment of sharing a bed with my crush keeps me wide awake.
“Taka-kun, who always comforts me…”
I whisper in his ear, but of course, there’s no reply; he’s lost in dreams.
Our meeting was nothing more than a chance, but Takashi, who should be recovering from the rejection by his childhood friend, came to comfort me when I was in tears.
Truly happy since that moment, I started to notice him more, and, as we stood up against bullying together, my feelings for Takashi grew.
If boys and girls around our age spend time together, it’s only natural for love to blossom.
“Taka-kun, do you still like shikibe-san?”
It’s only been a month since the rejection, and there’s a chance he might still have lingering feelings.
Sometimes, when we’re together, he plays with his smartphone, probably exchanging messages with Marika.
“If you’re going to reject Taka-kun, then please don’t stay by his side anymore.”
A pain I’ve never felt before washes over me.
My chest tightens, and tears naturally pool at the corners of my eyes.
This must be what they call jealousy.
Maybe falling for someone who just started talking to me normally after a month is a bit too quick.
Even if I confess, I might hear, “Isn’t it too soon to fall in love?” and that would be the end of it.
However, time can resolve such issues. For now, it’s enough to be on good terms.
The biggest problem is Marika, who, despite rejecting Takashi’s confession, continues to stay close.
It’s natural for childhood friends to feel like siblings, but normally, if you reject a confession, you shouldn’t stay close.
At least until Takashi’s feelings of love disappear.
Maybe it’s because Marika cooks meals at Takashi’s house or we spend time together, making it difficult for me to give up. So, I should keep my distance for a while.
“I want to be Taka-kun’s girlfriend.”
He seems embarrassed, so I’m guessing he’s aware of me in a romantic sense. However, even if he’s in a state of liking Marika, there’s no way he would agree to go out with me if I confessed. Takashi has a sincere side, so he would probably turn down anyone other than Marika. In fact, he might prefer it that way. Perhaps he doesn’t want his feelings swayed just because a girl confessed to him. He might want to accept confessions only from someone he genuinely likes.
“So, I’ll start making a move on Taka-kun from now on.”
If there’s someone else he likes, it’s impossible to capture his attention without making a move myself. We’ve already done incredibly embarrassing things like kissing on the cheek and bathing together, but I have to keep going to ensure Takashi, who can be oblivious, notices my feelings. It’s embarrassing, but I have to persistently make advances, making him forget about Marika and, in turn, making him fall for me.
“We’ll be together forever.”
After whispering these words again by his ear, I closed my eyes to go to sleep.
