“Please, come in.”

It was May 5th, Children’s Day, and I visited Himeno’s house. She had expressed a strong desire to meet today, so I came over right after having breakfast. When someone you like says they really want to see you, it naturally boosts your spirits, and today, my excitement was even higher than usual.

“Why did you really want to meet today?” I asked, taking a seat on the sofa.

Seated next to me, Himeno looked up with pleading eyes. 

“Today is my birthday, so is it okay if I rely on you a lot?”

I hadn’t known it was her birthday since we had only recently started getting to know each other better. 

“Congratulations… sorry… I didn’t know, so I haven’t prepared any gifts.”

“Thank you. It’s my fault for not telling you.”

“Should we go buy a present now?”

Not knowing what she liked, it might be a good idea to go together to choose a gift. After all, she had comforted me, even donning a maid outfit, so expressing gratitude with a birthday gift seemed appropriate.

“I do have things I want, but right now, I just want to rely on you like this.”

She hugged me tightly. Feeling the warmth of someone you like is incredibly happiness-inducing, but it still did a number on my heart. Being embraced from the morning made my heart race, and I didn’t feel like I would ever get used to it. However, there was no guarantee that I ever would.

Seeing her smile made me realize I was growing fonder of her every day. As my affection for her grew, I couldn’t imagine being separated from her.

“Yes.”

Himeno gently rubbed her forehead against my chest. Doing this, it felt like we were in a lover’s embrace, but unfortunately, we weren’t actually in a romantic relationship. It was disappointing, but to continue being together, we had to maintain this kind of connection as much as possible. I didn’t want to let go of this happiness.

“Today, you can rely on me as much as you want. I won’t let go.”

The other day, just like when she transformed into a cat-eared maid, Himeno nibbled at my neck.

It was unbelievably cute, and even though I was being nibbled, it didn’t feel unpleasant.

I’m sure if it were someone else, it might feel uncomfortable.

But because it’s the person I like, being nibbled at is perfectly fine.

In fact, a desire for more grew within me, and I couldn’t bring myself to let go of Himeno’s head that I held with my hands.

Feeling happiness, I received plenty of sweet nibbles.
