Chapter 24
After waking up, my head felt unusually heavy, as if shrouded in mist, making me feel sick. It seems like I’ve made the blunder of being attacked by a monster. To avoid any more failures, I need to pull myself together.
I moved my unfamiliar body, took deep breaths, and exhaled to calm down. Aria had gone out earlier and said she’d be back soon.
Still, where am I? This place feels both familiar and strange at the same time.
While observing the room, there’s a knock at the door. Thinking it might be Aria returning, I say, “Come in,” but the ones who enter were Lilia-oneechan and Mia.
“Ah… Roa-kun, are you alright? I was so worried, I didn’t know what to do.
“Roa, are you okay? Do you have any pain left?”
Again, why is this happening?
I’m falling into the same sensation I had when I met Aria. For some reason, I perceive them with fear. Despite how worried they are for me, what a heartless person I am.
“I’m fine, both of you. Though I might not look it…”
“Roa-kun, I’m sorry. It’s because I couldn’t protect you that you ended up like this. It’s my fault for not being there.”
Lilia-oneechan said this gently touching my cheek.
Just as I thought. Every time Lilia-oneechan moves, my heart stirs with fear. And the moment she touched my cheek, I almost flinched.
Seeing my reaction, Lilia-oneechan looked slightly sad and then said…
“You must be feeling sensitive because it hasn’t been long since you were attacked by the monster, Roa-kun. I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s okay, Lilia-oneechan. I was just surprised. I’m the one who should apologize.”
“It’s alright, Roa-kun. Let’s work hard together from now on.”
“Yeah, thank you, Lilia-oneechan.”
As I suppressed my fear and said this to Lilia-oneechan, she flinched slightly and relaxed her cheeks.
That’s right, I must be overly sensitive because of the monster attack. This fear should fade away in less than a week.
With kind-hearted Lilia-oneechan, Aria, and Mia around.
“If you have any trouble, let me know, Roa. I’ll do anything for you. I’ll take care of everything.”
“Thank you, Mia. I’m glad to have such a caring childhood friend.”
“R-really? Then, I’m glad to be your childhood friend too.”
…It’s okay, Mia is just worried about me. It can’t be this painful and frightening.
It’s disrespectful to them, who are so concerned about me. When did I become such a person?
“We have things to do, so we’ll be leaving. Call us immediately if you need anything, Roa-kun.”
“Okay, I understand.”
“See you, Roa.”
After they left the room, I felt the fear, anxiety, and pain in my heart gradually fade away.
What on earth happened to me?
