- Chapter 68- The truth~2!
Nakada Reiji—an internationally famous name and a national criminal of Japan.
Almost fifteen years ago, Reiji was working as a scientist at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology—more specifically he was in charge of a division in the Space and Technology Research department.
Reiji was responsible for maintaining the advance observing satellite which kept surveillance around ports of the country. However, he betrayed the country and sent the exact coordinates of those satellites to one of the terrorist groups that was aiming to invade Japan.
The ports of Yokohama and Kobe were invaded by the terrorists that night and thousands of people died because of the betrayal they faced from only a single native—Nakada Reiji.
The government instantly seized all his property and executed Reiji without any trials in the court. The terrorist attack was subdued within a week but a deep scar was left on the people after that incident.
The wife of Reiji, who was also a scientist National Institute, killed herself because of the humiliation and every family member of Reiji had to live in seclusion thereon.
The hatred from the people never allowed Reiji’s family to ever show their faces in public and up to this day, every citizen who suffered in that incident, deeply hates everything related to Nakade Reiji.
…which makes it clear that once people get to know about the fact that there was a son of Reiji whom the man left at an orphanage before the incident—surely the cursed child would meet the same fate as his father.
“Now you understand?! Why am I always so averse to letting him get involved in your life?!” Miyako couldn’t help shouting with her eyes stained with burning tears.
The expression which Ryouske and Haruki wore hearing the identity of the latter, clearly told how shocking this news was.
Yuna had her mouth covered with her hand and her face turned paper white as she stared at Miyako in disbelief.
The only person who seemed to be still collected was Emiko, who looked at her mother with a complicated expression.
“This can’t be…why are you making up such things, Miyako?!” Ryouske roared at Miyako as he stepped forward and glared down at his wife in anger.
However, if Miyako didn’t have the evidence she wouldn’t have been so hell-bent on removing Haruki from Emiko’s life.
Taking out her phone she showed her husband a specific DNA report which Miyako had confirmed from their different labs.
And all of those three reports show that Haruki shares the same DNA as his father.
The DNA reports of Reiji were already recorded on the system and collecting a DNA sample of Haruki wasn’t a tough job.
From the moment Miyako got to know about Haruki, she began to research him…and found something that led to everything that has happened until now.
Miyako would have never shown reluctance toward her daughter’s partner just because he is a college student. The fact that Haruki shares a relationship with Nakada Reiji would make Emiko’s life hell in the future. And being a mother, how could Miyako have let it happen?
Ryouske’s anger subdued as he read the report and concluded that his wife was telling the truth. And now he realized why his wife was so against Haruki all this time.
The person who received the most shocking blow after learning this news was naturally Haruki himself.
He never was told about his origin nor was he ever interested in knowing who his real parents were. Once he was adopted by Rena’s parents all those years ago, Haruki always considered them as his parents and family.
However, to think…the person whose blood was running across his body and the one whose genes Haruki carried was a traitor?
*Dhak* *Dhak*
Emiko hurriedly turned toward her left as she saw Haruki walking towards the door with heavy steps.
“Haru-kun…wait…” Emiko held his hand and made him stop mid-way. Her voice beheld the exact emotion she was feeling at the moment.
Helplessness.
The expression he wore at the moment was something Emiko had seen recently. After Haruki discovered Emiko’s picture on the internet with Kouske he had a similar reaction…just like now. And despite her vow to never let him be pushed to that edge, here he was.
She failed.
“Emiko-san…did you know about it?” Haruki’s voice was devoid of its natural vigor. He sounded so dull and heavy that even Miyako turned her gaze to look at him.
His mind was polluted by thoughts that he couldn’t tell anyone. His mind wasn’t able to process everything at once, as in turn, he felt the left side of his head hurting pretty bad.
Numerous questions were whirling in his head regarding this discovery.
Does his sister know about his origin? Does anyone else know about it? Does Haruki also have to live in isolation from now on? How many relatives or close people of his friends have been slaughtered in that attack? Would anyone come to take revenge on him one day?
There were many questions in his head and the first thing he wanted to hear was Emiko’s response.
The person he trusted the most…and believed to know everything about her….he wanted to know whether she knew about him or not.
However, he should have known her answer just by her reaction earlier.
“….Yes.”
Haruki removed his hand from her hold and left the room wordlessly.
Emiko remained frozen at her spot with her hand still risen as she stared at the door with a regretful look.
Turning toward her mother, Emiko said a few words before following Haruki,
“You shouldn’t have done this, Mom…I won’t forgive you for this….”
Miyako couldn’t get a word out of her throat in response as she saw her daughter distancing herself from her mother.
Yuna also made her way out of the room only after she bowed to Ryouske.
Left in the room, Ryouske looked at his wife before asking,
“Those lab reports….you made sure that the information didn’t get leaked right?”
