- Chapter 67- The truth~1!
It was almost ten on the clock when Miyako texted Yuna to initiate the plan.
She has made sure that Emiko has returned to her own room before signaling Yuna.
She herself has been sleeping in the guest room so leaving the room at this hour didn’t raise any questions from her husband.
As she reached the reception area, she nodded for Yuna to proceed before the pink-haired girl gulped in nervousness, turned toward the stairs, and slowly made her way to the first floor.
Miyako looked closely at the girl, just in case she changed her mind—but thankfully there was no halt before the pink head reached her destination and after opening Haruki’s room’s door, she entered inside.
‘Great….’ Miyako nodded to herself in relief before she began patiently waiting.
She needed them to be in that compromising position where Emiko would get extremely hurt. Although it was cruel for a mother to emotionally break her own daughter, it was a necessary evil to commit.
Miyako looked at her phone and saw the time to be half past ten.
‘Alright…’ Finally she began moving toward the first floor as well.
She knocked twice on the door and waited for a moment and two before Emiko finally showed up.
“Mom…what do you need?” Emiko’s expression turned blank upon seeing her mother—a fact that hurt Miyako more than anything.
However, it wasn’t the time to dwell on the sad part of their new reality. Once everything gets settled down, Emiko will become her lovely and obedient daughter once again.
“Come with me…I have something to show you.” Miyako held Emiko’s hand before pulling her. But the hand was easily snatched away as she heard Emiko’s complaint.
“Where? And why should I come with you?”
Miyako gritted her teeth in frustration before she glared at her daughter and spoke out a name that Emiko could not ignore,
“It’s about your precious Haru-kun.”
Emiko’s brows elevated before Miyako again took hold of her wrist and pulled her toward Haruki’s room.
Miyako didn’t think twice before twisting the doorknob and opening the door.
The room was dim which urged her to first turn on the light and pull Emiko forward to witness the scene.
“Huh?” However, the moment Miyako lightened up the room, her body froze and her mind went numb for a moment.
It was like she lost her soul in that particular moment as she saw what she didn’t expect.
Haruki and Yuna indeed were in the room, but not in the position that Miyako expected. Rather, Haruki and Yuna were fully clothed and Haruki seemed fairly conscious and stable as well.
“Yes, Mom? What was I supposed to see here?” Emiko’s smiling voice reached her ears, yet her eyes weren’t smiling at all.
“Y-You…you scoundrel!!” Miyako marched toward Yuna with the intent to slap the girl and make her realize whom she dared betray.
However, the person who came between her and Yuna was not Haruki…rather it was her husband; Kyouke.
“K-Kyouske…you are in this as well?”
“You say it like, it was us who plotted this plan and you are being trapped here. But we all know what is the truth, no?”
His gaze didn’t contain its usual warmth and all she could see was disgust in them.
Miyako staggered back on her feet as she found herself getting into the eye of a whirlwind. Her previous actions have been enough to make her husband and daughter detach themselves from her….and now…
“I am sorry, Madame, but for my own family I cannot ruin someone else’s.” Yuna bowed as she relayed how she had never been on this plan with Miyako.
“You really intended to drug Haru-kun and even have him sleep with some other woman so I break-up with him?! How cheap and disgusting of you Mom! I feel ashamed to even call you my mother any longer!”
Haruki panicked before he tried to cool Emiko down, “Emiko-san, please don’t say such-”
“No, Haruki. Don’t stop her. Miyako deserves it.” Kyouske uttered in a stern tone; never leaving Miyako’s gaze as he saw tears building in those orbs that he used to gaze lovingly before. But now…he could only look at his wife with disappointment.
Haruki backed down, being interrupted by Kyouske before Emiko stood while facing the older one and asked,
“Why Mom….why would do such a thing?! Why do you hate Haru-kun so much?! Just because he isn’t well settled yet, doesn’t make him an unworthy partner for me.”
Her voice was fueled with frustration as for the first time Emiko shouted at her mother while the other three remained silent.
The tears welling in Emiko’s eyes weren’t because of sorrow or regret but pure rage. She vowed to protect Haruki from everything in this world and here, the people who should have been Emiko’s ally were targeting him?!
Truly agitating.
“This can’t be Miyako…you may have changed these days but you can’t go to such lengths to separate the two just because Haruki isn’t a working individual and still is a student.”
Kyouske stepped forward as he spoke to his wife and asked for answers.
“I know there is something more to it…I know you are concerned for Emiko’s future but you have already seen what kind of guy Haruki is. Then why…why did you attempt something so vile, Miyako?”
Ryouske had known Miyako since they were in college. He knows her well enough to confidently say that Miyako admires hard-working people. And Haruki was a perfect example of how a youth should be.
Yet why….why does his wife seem to be so averse toward him?
“Isn’t it simple, Dad? Mom has forgotten where we came from and how it feels to be rejected by people just because you are not well off. She has gotten so accustomed to this luxurious lifestyle that she forgot her own roots, no Mom?”
Haruki was now feeling extremely guilty as he felt a tug on his sleeve from Yuna as well—indicating how his childhood friend was also being troubled.
However, before he could say anything Miyako’s sobbing voice reached everyone,
“…h-how c-can you b-be so *sniff* cruel to m-me Emi…” Raising her both arms she continued in the previous pitch, “…t-these w-were the a-arms…wh-*haah*-which held you for t-the first t-time….a-and now…”
Emiko clenched her teeth but before she could say anything it was Ryouske who spoke up,
“Then why?!”
“Because of his father!!” Suddenly Miyako raised her tear-stained eyes and hatefully glared at Haruki.
“He is the son of Nakada Reiji!”

A/N:- This story is nearing its end faster than I initially anticipated. Truth be told I was really conflicted since the start about how I would bring a conclusion—but well, thankfully now I have an answer.
