- Chapter 55- Be mine
“When did you learn to be so devious, Ririka?!” Once Kouske reached the mansion and heard the news which was spread by mostly every known news channel and internet, he was beyond vexed.
And the reason for his annoyance was none other than his little sister, whom he deemed to be cute and innocent. But it turned out the little minx was not only in possession of a mobile phone but also knew things about social media and such.
The said little girl had tears in her eyes as she stood at the corner of the room with her head hanging low. Mostly, a maid would have intervened and saved the child from scolding but not today.
What Rurika has done was unthinkable and irreversible.
Kouske pinched the bridge of his nose in agitation over this situation.
He has been around the industry enough to know the possible consequences of Ririka’s action.
Not only the present but the media would also dwell in the past of Emiko and Kouske, and once they find any link, the news channels would flood with the images of the two.
Kouske could face the heat of the media since the blunder was done on his part. But Emiko? She had done nothing wrong. All she did was trust Kouske and in return…
‘Haah…not surprised why she dislikes me…’ By now, Kouske knew that Emiko’s dislike must have turned into pure hatred.
Just as he was about to tell his sister to go back to her room, suddenly a voice called out for him,
“Don’t scold your sister for something she didn’t do on her own will.”
The voice was familiar but the content made him confused, which inched Kouske’s brows closer before he turned to look at his father.
Ririka instantly ran toward her father and hugged him with her tears now no longer contained.
Shimazu Kazuto picked up his daughter with his eyes never leaving his eldest.
“Dad?” Confused, Kouske asked his dad for an explanation.
Patting the little girl in his arms, the man stated, “Providing Ririak a phone and telling her to take pictures of you and Emiko together before uploading them, was everything taught by someone.”
Hearing those words, Kouske’s frown deepened. While he had a hunch about who could have done this, he still asked in a heavy voice, “Who was it?”
While exchanging equally condensed gazes patriarch Shimazu answered without wavering,
“Your mother…and Harada Miyako are the ones who came up with this plan to strengthen the bond between the two families. Now, Miyako-san has the role to convince her daughter to accept the marriage proposal.”
Kouske was left flabbergasted for the initial few seconds, but soon his confusion turned into anger as he clenched his fist and retaliated.
“Are you guys playing some kind of childish game by putting Emiko under media pressure? Have you guys los-”
“Kouske!”
Hearing the heightened voice of his father, Kouske flinched…but soon he regained his stance and walked away from the room.
‘Forget it…I will do something on my own…’

During the whole ride from Haruki’s college to the apartment, no words traveled between the two.
While Emiko seemingly wanted to explain things to Haruki, he just shook his head and held her hand, tightly. His eyes never drifted in her way all the way back home which broke her heart.
All this time, Haruki remained silent while looking outside. At some point, his phone began ringing a lot, but Haruki just turned it off without paying heed to who it was.
The car in which the two traveled was being driven by none other than Naomi. Even she was surprised to see such a demeanor from Haruki, however, naturally, she didn’t say anything and swiftly drove back to the apartment.
Getting out of the car, Haruki still held Emiko’s hand as he led her inside the building, with unhurried steps.
He looked so calm from the front that it terrified her. Not because she was scared of how he would react but because she knew that Haruki was hurt by this incident.
A lot.
Reaching the elevator, Emiko could no longer hold herself as she raised her voice, “Haru-”
“Let’s talk inside, no?” Hearing his interjection, Emiko was rendered speechless.
As the elevator doors parted, Haruki led a listless Emiko toward the door before he punched the code and opened the door for her.
Emiko kept her gaze on his, even though he wasn’t looking at her before she bit her lips and walked inside…
…only to be pulled by Haruki and have her back pressed against the closed door.
“H-Haru-kun?”
The distance between their faces could be measured in inches, with his mint breath hitting her face and his body heat burning her skin all over.
Her heartbeat elevated, however, she would rather keep the reason hidden.
“You know Emiko-san…why I have been hanging around you, so much, these days? Being a nuisance sometimes by interfering with your work and even skipping family visits to be by your side? Why did I immediately return from college and feel my heart calming down whenever I look at you at home? Why do I even no longer think about part-time jobs? Why do you get startled in the morning since you always find my eyes on you? Do you wanna know, Emiko? Do you? Or do you not? Tell me Emiko?!”
“Yes…yes, I do Haru-kun! Tell me, I want to know!”
With tears building at the corner of her eyes, Emiko nearly shouted those words as she clutched the hem of her shirt and protested to be kept in the dark anymore.
She has sensed how her importance in Haruki’s life has exponentially elevated these days. And while she liked nothing more to be showered with Haruki’s presence, she was anxious to know the reason behind this change.
Hearing her response, Haruki leaned close to her, urging her breath to choke in her throat before she heard his whisper,
“…because, I thought you would abandon me.”
Haruki leaned back to his previous position as he saw tears rolling down her cheeks and her eyes widened in shock.
Regardless, Haruki couldn’t find himself to stop there as he continued,
“I was insecure that Emiko would leave me…and you know, with those thoughts swirling around my head all the time when I looked at a man being regarded as your boyfriend who was not me….how did it feel?”
Emiko was by now sobbing with her eyes failing to even see his face clearly as she tried to say something…something to soothe him. To comfort him. To let him know that she would never….never even think of leaving him, again.
However, how much she tried, no words came out. It felt like she was forced to be mute temporarily where she couldn’t muster up the words she desired to speak.
In the end, Haruki took a long, deep breath, before he encircled his arm around Emiko’s waist and pulled her closer.
With their nose brushing slightly, Haruki asked in clear conscience, “You have only this chance. Push me now, and within time I will become myself…however, if you don’t…”
Inching closer to her ear, Haruki whispered, “I will make you, mine.”
Haruki didn’t usher for her to answer right now and waited…only to find a pair of dainty arms embracing his back before the slow muttering of Emiko, reached his ears.
“…I…b-belong h-here…”
Haruki didn’t require a double confirmation as he picked up the woman in a bridal carry before heading toward the bedroom.

A/N:- Absurd? Sweet? Hot?
Well, there was a lot going on with Haruki these days because of his ‘dreams’ which influenced his reaction to this sudden situation. I will detail it in the next chapter.
