- When the person I used to admire, turned out to be a Yandere!
- Chapter 53- It\'s personal
It has been some days since that day…yet Emiko still couldn’t believe that Haruki agreed to announce their relationship publicly.
Although she hadn’t decided how she would announce it, she was happy that he no longer was against the idea.
For some reason, these past few days, Haruki has been paying a lot of attention to Emiko and even spending most of his time with her. If not for his college then he might have agreed to come to her office with her.
Naturally, Emiko was beyond elated by the change…however, every too-good-to-be-true situation made her apprehensive. She couldn’t ask for anything more if her Haru-kun remained by her side all the time without having any thought of other women, but contemplating what might have brought such a change to his behavior, made her anxious.
For the past week, Haruki has been busy with his debate competition, which was held today. Emiko has helped him prepare most of the things when it comes to writing or with his stage fright.
She received a text from him that his phone would be off for the time being, in response to which, Emiko sent a lot of wishes for his performance.
Initially, she intended to have some words with the debate judging committee so that her Haru-kun wouldn’t get disheartened if by chance he couldn’t win the competition.
However, she soon realized how inferior she was deeming her Haru-kun and for that she reprimanded herself.
‘I am sure you will do great, Haru-kun…’ Caressing the picture frame which had the picture of her beloved, Emiko sighed.
*Ring* *Ring*
Suddenly, the intercom rang, earning a frown from Emiko as she regretfully put down Haruki’s picture and picked up the phone,
[There is someone named, Shimazu Kouske and his little sister are here to meet you. What should I tell him?]
The voice of her office assistant arrived from the other side, drawing her frown deeper as she tried to recall that name.
Suddenly, she realized who the person was before Emiko directed the call,
“Send them.”
Not so long after she put down the phone, the figure of a blond young man, accompanied by a young girl of ten years of age, walked inside.
Emiko stood up from her seat with a dazzling smile, which was directed toward not the older one.
“Riri-chan. How are you?” The said girl, Shimazu Ririka brushed off the hand of her brother before jogging her way toward Emiko and jumping in her arms.
“Nee-san!” The reason why the girl had such a familiar relationship with Emiko, was because, in the past when Emiko was in high school, the Shimazu family became good friends with her own family.
Naturally, Emiko also visited the Shimazu family on several occasions, and at that time, Riri was only four years old. Since Emiko was naturally good with kids, it didn’t take long before Emiko became Ririka’s favorite.
Patting the girl, Emiko pulled the girl toward the sofa before she told her assistant to bring some confections and tea for the three.
Thanks to that, Kouske realized that Emiko wasn’t unaware of his presence, but rather paid no mind to him.
“Seriously, you are treating me like I don’t even exist.” There was no malice or agitation in his voice, which somehow surprised Emiko—given the attitude of Kouske she was familiar with.
“I am thankful that you brought Riri-chan here…do you expect me to say more than this?” Seeing Emiko’s genuinely confused expression made Kouske chuckle.
It wasn’t that she was acting here, rather she seemed actually clueless as to how she should greet him.
Something Kouske could only expect from her…
Soon a tray filled with several shot cakes and a fresh pot of tea was delivered to her office before Emiko sat beside Ririka and Kouske sat on the side, gazing at them with warm gaze.
However, soon he remembered something that made him break her happy mood,
“Your mother seemed rather too pissed off this time. What actually have you done?”
Emiko’s smile faltered before she told the little one to enjoy her snacks.
Taking a sip of the tea without adding any sugar, Emiko heaved a sigh before relaying her thoughts on the matter,
“It’s personal. Thanks for your concern.”
Kouske could only inwardly chuckle at her bluntness. Even though so much time has passed and they shared so many memories, Emiko still considered him an outsider.
Sometimes I feel jealous of you, Riri-chan—he was ashamed to admit that.
“Nee-san, you have become really pretty. What face wash do you use? My skin becomes really dry with my current one and changing soap makes my skin burn often as well.”
The silence was broken by the youngest one’s chime as she asked her elder sister with an admiring gaze.
“Hmm? I can recommend something but that won’t be the same as mine. After all, Riri-chan’s skin is more tender than mine.” As Emiko said, she rubbed her cheek against Ririka; making the girl giggle in glee.
Kouske remained silent after that, knowing full well how Emiko could become easily irritated. He had seen her temper and he didn’t want to get embarrassed in front of his little sister.
After the two girls chatted, mostly Ririka telling her stories of school and friends, they decided to depart nearly at two in the afternoon.
Emiko didn’t ask them to stay for lunch since Haruki’s debate competition was about to end as well. While she liked Ririka, her Haru-kun would always be Emiko’s priority.
“Riri-chan? Since when did you get yourself a phone?” Hearing the query from Kouske Emiko also turned to look at Riri, who was standing behind them in the elevator.
Ririka slid the phone inside her purse before pouting, “Mom gave me. Don’t pry into my private matters, Onii-sama!”
Kouske just shook his head in resignation while Emiko also just shrugged off the matters given how advanced children these days were.
…however, she gravely underestimated the power of a single smartphone in the hands of a child.
