- Chapter 44- Official meeting~1!
Haruki had a hectic day at college.
He had to complete his pending work, participate in group discussions, and also actively speak in his friend circle about the group project they were working on.
He has, for most of his life, been a quiet kid, who liked to spend his time in isolation while watching the world revolving around him. That was the best period of his life, that continued until his high school graduation.
But now…things were incredibly exhausting. While it was fun being around new people and getting to learn various things from them, Haruki sometimes also wondered whether he belonged to such a dazzling group of people.
Well, that was something to ascertain at a later date since currently, he was on his way to his sister’s place with someone on his left.
It was his best friend, Asuzawa Hayato.
He is the only person who has known Haruki for the longest and also has visited his house often in the past. He knows Haruki’s sister very well and also was aware of her condition.
He initially suggested that he could help with the FD his father has saved for Hayato’s future, but Haruki declined it. That money was something his father had collected through his lifetime of hard work and also, even that wouldn’t have been enough to pay the hospital bills.
“Rena-nee would remember me, right?” Hayato was visiting Haruki’s place after a while, so he was naturally a little nervous.
“Of course, she would. After all, how can someone forget a person who can make the room awkward by trying to deliver a joke on spoons.” Haruki sarcastically scoffed at his friend while reminding him of that particular night when Hayato came over for dinner.
It was really a bad end of the day.
“Shut up, you chicken-brained. My jokes have a deeper meaning that only mature people can understand. Like Rena-nee.”
And yes…Hayato admires Haruki’s sister up to this day. Haruki suspected that he may have a crush on her, but after Rena’s marriage, it became evident that Hayato simply admired the lady for managing her life by working hard as a professional woman and also taking care of a kid(Haruki) alongside.
“Yeah, yeah. Now let’s go.” Getting off the train, the two rushed toward their destination.

Reaching his small apartment where he once lived, Haruki felt a sense of nostalgia, even though it had been a little more than a week since he began living with Emiko.
Talking about Emiko, Haruki was going to tell his best friend about his unexpected relationship with The Harada Emiko, today. If someone really mattered to Haruki and someone he trusted, other than his family, then it was Hayato.
*Knock* *Knock*
Knocking twice on the door, the two boys stood silently as Haruki glanced around a bit.
The whole floor had three houses and two floors in total. The condition wasn’t too good in this place. In monsoon, it gets even worse which makes Haruki think about moving out.
*Click*
His train of thought was broken when the door parted.
Haruki was expecting his brother-in-law to stand there since his Nee-san was too weak to even move properly these days.
However…the person who came into view, made Haruki entirely flabbergasted.
“E…miko-san?”
“Good evening, Haruki-kun. I hope your day went well.”
Stood there with a beaming smile like the first blooming flower of the spring was none other than, Harada Emiko, whom Haruki wasn’t expecting here at this moment, at all
She clearly told him that she would be at her work since she has been skipping a lot these days…but now?
Haruki slowly glanced at his friend…only to see his mouth hung low and eyes turned saucers.
Considering that there were some security cameras in the lobby, Haruki decided to have this conversation inside.
Pulling his friend by his arm, Haruki smiled wordlessly at Emiko as both of them walked inside.

[Haruki’s POV:]
So let’s see how things went when I was not around.
In the morning, when I asked Emiko-san about her plan, she told me that she had some shoots and had to handle some work in the office as well. Considering her position, I didn’t doubt it at all.
…even though, now I think about it, how easily she nodded her head when I said I would return him late, I should have doubted her words a little.
Anyway, the fact is, since morning, Emiko-san has been at my sister’s place. And the way my Nee-san was smiling lovingly at Emiko-san, it was apparent that she had already accepted her as my partner.
But even so, I needed to take the bold step and announce my relationship officially in front of my family and friends.
“Alright then…” Looking at Masato-san and Nee-san, who was sitting on the couch, and Hayato, who was occupying a chair nearby, with his mouth still hung, I held Emiko-san’s hand.
“I want to make an announcement regarding…us.”
Without looking, I could tell that Emiko-san was excited as she looked at me with those starry eyes of hers.
My elders gave me a warm look, urging me to continue, while my friend…well, let’s not talk about it.
Taking a deep breath, I finally let out the words I have prepared,
“I have been dating Harada Emiko-san for about ten days now and have started living with her, as well. I know it may sound abrupt but these are my true feelings and intention. So please, give us your blessings.”
I bowed my head and surprisingly found Emiko-san also bowing with me.
I glanced at her, and found her eyes tightly shut.
‘Wait…is she nervous?’ Even though it sounded strange, from her sudden shift in demeanor and how tightly she was holding my hand, I felt she was anxious.
…was she scared that Nee-san would reject our relationship?
Both of us remained like that for a good minute before Nee-san called out for me.
“Haruki….I cannot accept her as your partner.”
Both Emiko-san and I raised our heads in an instant hearing Nee-san’s response before I couldn’t help asking her in an uncertain voice,
“Why, Nee-san?” I could feel Emiko-san’s hand trembling and it wouldn’t be too surprising if she suddenly began to cry as well, that anxious she seemed at the moment, but I tried keeping my attention forward and getting to know why our relationship was rejected…again.
However, contrary to all the possibilities my mind has already built, Nee-san brought up an unexpected but valid point,
“Emi-chan is too good for you~ I think she should reconsider.”
“…”

A/N:- Nee-san rocked, Haruki shocked.
