- Chapter 36- Creepy?
From Haruki’s point of view, things have taken an unbelievably unexpected turn within a week of dating a supermodel named Emiko.
Initially, he believed he was in a reality show, then after some time his perception changed and he thought it was Emiko’s whim to date him. But now that he was ensured that Emiko actually liked him, he already had to officially introduce himself as her boyfriend to her parents…
…indeed, a lot of things have messed up and Haruki never got the time to cope up with the fluctuating situations in his life.
“Mom used to work as a teacher, while Dad handled his convenience store to support the family. However, Dad told me, that even before joining as a teacher, her attitude has always been strict and disciplined. ”
It didn’t help that Emiko was saying such things regarding her mother, elevating Haruki’s trepidation to a further extent.
For someone who has always looked after her daughter’s well-being and kept everything in order…Haruki’s presence in Emiko’s life out of the blue, surely wouldn’t be liked by the elder Harada.
“So what are we going to say to her about us suddenly getting into a relationship?” Haruki asked as he uneasily thumped his heel rapidly on the ground while he sat on the couch facing Emiko, who was occupying a chair.
It was given that they couldn’t tell Emiko’s mother the truth, about why Haruki was now her boyfriend. All this contract and relationship in exchange for assistance from Emiko, sound unreasonable enough that Emiko’s mother might end up kicking Haruki out of the glass panel rather than the door.
‘I have a bad feeling about it…’ A shiver ran down his spine as Haruki heard Emiko’s suggestion.
“We can tell her that we were in contact for a long time and recently I confessed to you and we began cohabitation?”
The easygoing speech she used to support her flowery words made Haruki’s face blank.
“Long time? Cohab? Emiko-san, this isn’t some light novel where we could do things so fast forward and let things flow from thereon. In real life, we need to give our relationship some years’ worth of time, before we even consider living together.”
Even if the world has advanced a lot, some things still sound appropriate if it’s done in moderation. And what Emiko was suggesting here was anything but moderate.
“But Haruki-kun…didn’t we just begin living together right off the bat? What problem is there to say the truth?”
…Haruki couldn’t tell whether she was making him annoyed or simply this was that dumb side of Emiko, he had yet to witness.
However, the way she tilted her head and asked the question in an innocent tone, Haruki leaned on the latter option and answered her truthfully.
“Emiko-san, from your mother’s perspective, we would seem like hot-blooded teenagers who know nothing but to move at a supersonic pace and end up in the worst manner in the future. Only you and I know under what circumstances we began to live together but if we really would have moved through the chatting, texting phase then this cohabitation seriously came out, way too early.”
Having a normal relationship suits those people who at least have anything in common so convincing her mother that they started dating normally, was a challenge in itself. And now there was cohabitation for which both of them needed to create a decent plan or as Emiko had told about her mother’s personality, their lie would get caught in no time.
Emiko remained silent for a bit before asking in a quieter tone, “So what should we do now, Haru-kun? Run away?”
Although she tried to conceal it, Haruki could see that teasing smile on her lips as Emiko raised a suggestion that could be regarded as nothing but ridiculous.
“Alright, no more jokes. Please suggest to me if you have any idea how can we deal with this situation, Haru-kun.”Jumping from her chair and landing beside Haruki, Emiko cooed with a smile, making him sigh in defeat immediately.
Beautiful girls have got it easy…Haruki allowed himself to sigh once again.
He remained silent for a bit, contemplating and measuring all the pros and cons of what they could present in front of Emiko’s guardian. After half a minute of silence, he finally spoke up,
“Hmm, how about we tell her that I have got some issues with my house when suddenly you suggested that I can live with you? Since we were already dating for months now, it was not too unnatural. And as per how we met, you can say I have been your fan since the time you began working as an idol. Soon I got to meet you in person and at the end we exchanged contacts, and then and then…”
Haruki raised his brows as he looked at Emiko in approval. She made a pondering expression before answering in assent, “That works…we just need to discuss some of the past dates we went on and how our relationship progressed since in my Mom’s perspective, I have done everything behind her back, so we need to make our plan, full proof.”
There could be various plot holes, so they needed to decide upon what mutual lie they could forge their past, to cross this hurdle together.
“Before that, I think we should get to know each other more…like in her eyes we have been dating for months so knowing basic things is a must, right?”
Emiko nodded immediately before responding, “I know everything about you so take your time and ask me anything. ”
Haruki tilted his head with his left brow arched he asked in a challenging tone, “Are you sure about that?”
Without a single ounce of hesitation, Emiko nodded.
“Hmm, then tell me…hmmm…my favorite spot to relax.”
Haruki wasn’t a fool to ask trivial things like color and food. By living with her for a week, he knows that for some reason, Emiko knows about some of the regular things related to him.
That’s why he chose a question one could only guess until they don’t know you very closely.
But….”Inside a dark room with Lofi music and a book as your companion.”
“…”
After a short pause, he again asked, “A-And about my dream place to visit?”
“Switzerland. Well, I have already made plans so you may need to change your dream destination soon.”
“And my favorite winter wear?”
“Hoodie.”
“What do I like on my rice the most?”
“Curry. Spicy one~”
“My favorite novel?”
“Isn’t the wannabe villain too cute? I like that female lead as well~”
“What about my favorite soccer team?”
“Oh, Haru-kun, don’t be silly. You don’t watch soccer but baseball once in a while.”
Haruki was left speechless. She…she knew more than anyone…not even his sister whom Haruki regarded as his closest person knew things so deeply about him.
It was borderline alarming how closely she knew him…
‘….Emiko-san really is scary sometimes…’
