- Chapter 29- Erasing the past and...
Emiko remembers him. Kento Rei. How could she forget that man for whom she left her Haru-kun in a previous life and became a success-seeking bitch who wagged her tail behind that blond bastard?
She remembers it.
The time when she ignored her Haru-kun since she deemed him as someone who could benefit her. A man always kept her happy and made her feel like she was wanted in this world and on the other hand there was a man who was just trying to get into her bed through fake commitments and a promise of a bright future…between the two, Emiko chose the latter since she knew, she alone couldn’t be able to reach the heights Emiko always desired.
She remembers it.
The man who nearly r*ped her and then after Haru-kun came to save her, the bastard not only brutally assaulted Haruki but broke his work scooter as well. Because of that Haruki was forced into heavy debt and was admitted to the hospital. This was the primary reason why Haruki became cornered under the burden of debts.
She remembers it. She remembers it all.
It was not like Emiko was blaming Rei solely since it was she who brought that man between herself and Haruki in the first place and also the suffering Haruki had to go through was something Emiko was majorly to blame.
However, even she realized that Emiko had no intention of conducting any kind of business with Rei or even seeing his face.
“Just throw him out and don’t allow just any random company to enter my office, got it?”
Hearing the words spoken in such a cold tone and the eyes Emiko currently had made the office staff tremble in fear of losing their job. Without registering the words, the employee nodded hastily.
“Let’s get going Ha-” Emiko was about to pull Haruki away and fix her mood along the way with his calming warmth when suddenly a person interrupted them.
“Can I know the reason why Harada-san seems to be so averse to meeting me?”
Haruki turned to see the charming man standing there with a friendly smile spread on his lips. Despite the fact that the man must have heard how Emiko just rejected to meet him, there was no sense of agitation in the man’s voice.
‘Ah…’ Haruki tore his gaze away from the man and glanced downward to see the fastened grip with which Emiko was holding on him now. Her current demeanor was anything but calm. If compared with Emiko who was clinging to him all the way to her office and the current one, people might think Emiko was very good at acting.
However, Haruki could tell that this was no mere pretense. Emiko was genuinely fuming for some reason.
However upon a little rational contemplation, Emiko decided something but she didn’t want her Haru-kun to see that side of her so, “Can you wait for me in the office room for a bit, Haru-kun?”
Haruki nodded without hesitation since he knew, that whoever this man was, he was quite eager to talk with Emiko about the work. Haruki somehow realized that Emiko was not happy to see the man but meddling in the matter without any prior knowledge was something he found rude.
“Sherly, can you lead Haru-kun to my office?” As the employee (who arrived by their side out of nowhere) nodded, Haruki began following the woman toward the stairs that led to the office Haruki thought to be Emiko’s.
The woman punched some numbers on the security panel before the light of the panel turned green.
“After you, Haru-sama.” Haruki felt a little bashful hearing that nickname but then again, the woman named Sherly must have heard his name from Emiko just now.
Walking with slow strides he glanced around the office and found it fairly simple and peaceful compared to what he imagined.
There was a long table with stationary, some files, and a computer along with a laptop nearby resting on the table. A coffee and water dispenser nearby. A big boss chair on the other side of the table and two small chairs for the visitors. There was a plant in the corner as well which seemed to have been maintained properly.
“You may find the office a little too empty and boring. ” The brown-haired woman said to break the awkward atmosphere and despite such words, there was no mockery in her voice. She seemed to be just sharing a general perception of what one could feel after seeing the office of the CEO of such a big empire.
However, Haruki had a different opinion.
“But I like the place…you know, calm and peaceful. Not to talk about the wall paint selection an-ah, sorry for talking a lot.”
“No, it’s okay. Rather, I am surprised for someone so young to talk so maturely.” The woman brushed off Haruki’s worry, making him embarrassed slightly by the compliment.
After offering Haruki the chair, she went to brew some coffee and fetch some snacks from the cabinet built under the dispenser.
After placing the trays she bid her farewell and walked out of the office.
“Haah….” Being left alone, Haruki let out a long sigh as he slumped in a more relaxed manner, enjoying the comfort of the cushiony seat.
Involuntarily his eyes traveled toward the people working around the office, busy in their work and conversation. However, the person he was searching amongst those many heads was nowhere to be seen.
“I wonder if they went to some private room…”
Remembering that blond man, Haruki couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the way he handled the situation so easily and also convinced Emiko to chat with him. Under general circumstances, Haruki might have admired such a person…
….however, for some reason a very dark feeling was troubling him from earlier.
The way Emilio seemed agitated by that man seemed like she knew him from before and had a fight or something with him. He couldn’t help but think whether they had a past together.
Any normal person would think such a possibility to be true since both of them were attractive and had their charms yet when Haruki thought about Emiko being with someone else….he felt troubled from inside.
‘What’s been going on with me…’ Placing his hand over his chest Haruki couldn’t help frowning at his situation. And because of those dark feelings, Haruki found himself on a run.
He exited the office room and climbed down the stairs before approaching the same woman who led him to the office.
“Umm…sorry to disturb you, but can you tell me where Emiko-san is? I need to talk to her urgently.”
The lady was surprised to see Haruki all of a sudden but given the fact that he looked panicked and the intimacy both he and Emiko showed earlier, the woman didn’t ponder for long before directing Haruki toward the conference room.
“Thank you.” Saying his thanks, Haruki pushed the big doors that led to the room where Emiko and that blond man were talking. However, upon witnessing the sight he was greeted by Haruki felt his mind falling numb.
“E-Emiko…”
