Episode 9: Creating a Comfortable Environment

While Reina was hanging up the laundry, I did some light cleaning.

I thought it would take until the delivery people arrived, but it ended up finishing surprisingly quickly. Reina probably cleans regularly, so there wasn’t much clutter to begin with.

After hanging up the laundry, Reina returned, and as we were looking at supermarket flyers together, the intercom rang.

“Oh, looks like they’re here.”

“Yeah, shall we go?”

Hand in hand, we went to the front door, and there stood a young delivery guy. Behind him, we could see the furniture and appliances we bought yesterday, and other delivery workers were waiting to bring them in.

We opened the front door to its fullest and fixed it in place, then decided to help the delivery guy while asking him various questions.

Once we get the items inside the room, we can handle the rest ourselves. Considering the truck, there might be other houses they need to go to, so we can’t keep them here for too long.

We asked the delivery people to handle items like the queen-sized bed that needed to be carried upstairs, and Reina and I helped bring in the furniture and appliances for the first floor with one of the workers.

With everyone’s cooperation, all the furniture and appliances were inside the house within an hour.

They offered to help with arranging, but we only needed assistance with installing items like the air conditioner, which required specialized knowledge and skills.

After finishing that task, we thanked them and offered tea and snacks, and the delivery people left while expressing their gratitude.

Now, it’s time for some physical labor again.

“Where should we start?”

“Well… I’ll organize my sister’s room, so Hayato, you can arrange your room as you like.”

“Okay, thanks.”

With that, I headed to my room where the furniture had been delivered.

I suddenly thought that I might need Reina’s help to set up things like the bed, but I hadn’t paid much attention when I bought them, so I didn’t realize they needed to be assembled. With this, I can easily set them up alone.

I checked the position of the windows to calculate the sunlight and determined the appropriate position for the bed.

After that, I placed the chest of drawers and bookshelf in safe places in case of earthquakes, and then placed the refrigerator. Might as well chill some of my favorite juice.

I arranged the desk, placed the computer and monitor, and then the chair. With that, my room was mostly complete. It feels more luxurious than my parents’ house… which is true. It’s actually more luxurious than my parents’ house.

Feeling truly grateful for all the things Reina provided, I left the room to check how things were on her side.

And there, Reina came out of her room.

“Oh, weren’t you working in your sister’s room?”

“I finished, so I was putting various appliances that Hayato bought into my room.”

Ah, I see. She’s very efficient.

“Are you done too, Hayato?”

“Yeah, it’s in a good state now.”

“Got it. Then, shall we create our love nest together?”

That’s a factual statement, but it still makes me blush.

Together, just the two of us, in the large room on the third floor.

The delivery people had placed items in decent spots, so it’s mostly about fine-tuning now. I find these kinds of adjustments enjoyable.

Well, let’s get started right away.

“Shall we decide on the bed’s location first?”
“Against the wall!”

“Against the wall? If it’s a queen-sized bed, wouldn’t it be nice to place it right in the middle?”

“That’s true, but… wouldn’t it feel more intimate against the wall?”

When she put it like that… It makes sense.

Between the classic middle spot and the cozy space between the wall and Reina.

I choose the latter.

“Let’s put it against the wall.”

“Let’s do it! Oh, this one can be disassembled and assembled too.”

Seems like Reina didn’t know the bed needed to be assembled either. We’re really alike, aren’t we?

We moved the queen-sized bed against the wall and assembled it. In the spacious area, we placed a massage chair and even some balance balls and other items for core exercises. There’s even an electric tool for training your core or something that I didn’t know we had.

After placing the TV and computer, it’s complete.

Yeah, I think it’s become a really nice room.

“It’s done.”

“Yeah, it’s a wonderful room!”

“Totally agree.”

The interior work is finally finished. Phew, it was quite tough.

I used a lot of arm strength, and I feel like I moved more than during my part-time job.

Now, we can officially start living together. All that’s left is to handle the paperwork at the city office.

It’s already lunchtime, so maybe we should eat out before going to the office.

As I was thinking about it, Reina hugged me from behind.

“Hey, Hayato. Are government offices open during Golden Week?”

“Oh, right.”
