Episode 5: Getting the Furniture

The first section we visited in the furniture department was the beds.

We needed to look at both individual beds for me and her sister’s room, and also a larger bed for Reina and me to sleep in together.

We quickly decided on a bed for individual use, one with storage and built-in sockets, and then spent time choosing a bed for the two of us.

So, we went around looking at the beds Reina liked…

“Are we seriously getting a queen-size bed?”

“Of course! Hayato, don’t you want to sleep with me?”

“It’s not that, but wouldn’t something smaller and cheaper be okay?”

“No! This is the most important thing, so I won’t compromise!”

She seemed intent on buying a huge queen-size bed, and she was currently selecting the color and design.

I was surprised by the size of the room where it would fit, but I was also surprised by the price, so I couldn’t help but double-check. Even though her sister said she would cover the cost, I couldn’t shake off my worries.

However, as for me, being able to sleep comfortably in a spacious bed was great, and if Reina decided on it, she wanted to decide based on the actual comfort of sleeping on it.

As we tested the sheets and checked the elasticity, a smiling salesperson approached us.

“Would you like to lie down and try out the comfort of the bed?”

“Huh, is that okay?”

“Of course, beds should be the most comfortable for your body.”

With permission from the salesperson, Reina kicked off her shoes and jumped onto the bed. Then, she pulled my hand, so I quickly took off my shoes and lay down on the bed.

It had a plush texture that enveloped me and seemed easy to roll over. It felt like a luxurious bed you’d find in a high-end hotel, not that I had stayed in one.

As we enjoyed the comfort of the bed, when I turned my head, Reina’s face was right there.

“It’s so nice to sleep like this, face to face.”

Imagining sleeping together holding hands made my cheeks heat up.

Facing each other so closely, with her adorable sleeping face right there. Not just sleeping, but maybe we would do other things as lovers at night or in the morning…

“Hayato?”

Before I knew it, Reina’s hand was on my forehead.

The cool sensation felt pleasant.

But more than that, feeling embarrassed, he hastily jumped off the bed.

“I-Isn’t this bed comfortable? It molds to your body, right?”

“Thank you very much. Here’s the purchase tag… If you need anything else, please let me know. I assume you’ll need various items for your new life together, like a large sofa, a cupboard, a table, chairs, a dresser, and a TV stand.”

“S-Sorry!?”

Both me and Reina were surprised by the salesperson’s words.

We were mistaken for newlyweds at this stage of living together. Oh no, could it be that ordinary couples don’t buy a bed together when they start living together? I thought I had seen in online articles that couples often sleep together when they live together.

But nothing would change, but I should clear up the misunderstanding.

“We’re still just living together.”

“But I’d like to get married soon~”

She said with upturned eyes, but that was definitely unfair. Cute…

I couldn’t help but pat Reina’s head, and she rubbed her head against me affectionately. My heart had been pounding since earlier.

“Ahem! Sorry about that. Anyway, you’ll need various items for living together, such as a large sofa, a cupboard, a table, chairs, a dresser, and a TV stand. Let me know if you need anything else.”

“Thank you!”

Reina seemed to be more knowledgeable about what we needed than me, so I left it to her.

After that, we selected tables, chairs, and shelves for what we were missing and took them to the checkout.

The kind salesperson even negotiated discounts without being asked and even gave us a catalog gift under the pretext of a new life support campaign. However, the deadline for this new life support campaign seemed to be until last week, but was it still okay?

While praying that the kind salesperson wouldn’t get scolded by the store manager, we thanked him and left the store after requesting the delivery service. We even put a feedback form praising that salesperson in the customer feedback box.

“Phew, we’ve bought everything.”

“It feels good to spend so much money.”

“Yeah. Getting used to buying expensive things like this is dangerous.”

“Indeed, we have to refrain from overdoing it or we’ll go bankrupt.”

“I can’t imagine my sister buying anything other than expensive things.”

Me and Reina looked at each other’s faces and laughed in surprise.

Although it was still early in the day, the distant sky was already starting to tint with the colors of sunset.

“Is it already this late? I’m sorry, Hayato. Would you like to eat out or buy something for dinner on the way back?”

“Of course. Oh, there’s a pizza place right there. I’ll treat you, so choose whatever you like.”

“Really!? Thank you, Hayato!”

We went into the pizza place to buy dinner for the night.

We bought the usual pizzas in small sizes, four in total, along with some fries and chicken.

I thought we might have bought too much, but it was okay. Let’s enjoy it when we get home.

After all, eating with someone you love always makes the food taste better.
