When My Younger Brother Stole My Girlfriend, I Began Living Together with My Beautiful Childhood Friend Almost As If We Were Married - Chapter 34
Episode 34: After the Incident
Since the knife blade only pierced through the wallet and didn’t penetrate any further, there was no physical damage.
Rather, it seemed like Reina, who was punched by Takumi, and my nose, were in quite a state, as the doctor who treated us at the hospital looked wide-eyed.
He said that in nineteen years as a doctor, he never saw someone brought in after being stabbed with a knife only to have injuries from being punched that were even more severe. It’s a first for me too.
Or rather, I never want to experience being stabbed again. Although there was a time in high school when Anna stabbed her arm with a cutter, I wonder why I had to be stabbed twice in my life.
Back then, I thought Anna was cute, so I didn’t take it seriously, but looking back now, I’m glad we were able to break up without any fuss over her cheating. Well, I wonder if this will be treated as a fuss over the incident. Well, even if it was a fuss, it didn’t turn into a big deal…
No, no, it’s hard to call it peaceful when a knife is pulled out suddenly… Anyway, I’m glad we were able to break up cleanly.
Reina was on the phone with her sister, asking her to bring the car that was left at school back home.
As I vaguely listened to their exchange, a nurse entered the examination room with two police officers.
That’s right. Takumi’s situation, as well as Anna’s, was clearly an incident, so there would be questioning.
“I apologize for the suddenness. Would you mind telling us what happened?”
“Oh, of course.”
“…You seem quite energetic considering you were stabbed. Sorry, but usually these interrogation sessions are more, well, you know…”
Even the police officers were surprised. I’m surprised too.
The senior-looking police officer cleared his throat, and two female officers entered the room, taking Reina to another room to begin the interrogation.
“Um… let’s go through it chronologically. What’s your relationship with that man?”
“He’s my younger brother. I don’t know much about legal stuff, just what I’ve learned in class, but in cases like this, isn’t it difficult to make an arrest?”
“It’s usually difficult, but since he’s obstructing official duties and also assaulted the girl with you, he’ll likely be charged. Usually, he wouldn’t be charged, but if you file a complaint, you could be.”
“Oh, then I’ll file a complaint. What should I do?”
Of course, we’re going to file that complaint ASAP. I, for one, will never forgive him for hurting Reina.
Even if it was considered assault in Reina’s case, I won’t be satisfied until he’s punished too. That might also affect our parents.
Perhaps sensing our situation, a junior-looking police officer quickly prepared the complaint form during the interrogation.
There were some additional questions about Takumi’s case, and then the interrogation began regarding Anna’s case.
“Now, about that. Do you know the person who attacked you with a knife? The officer at the scene said there was an argument.”
“It’s my ex-girlfriend. I thought it would only turn into a verbal argument, but I never imagined she would have a knife.”
“Normally, one wouldn’t expect that. Well… it was unfortunate.”
The tone was sympathetic.
It seems that regardless of the complaint, an investigation will be conducted for attempted murder. Fortunately, both Reina and I were unharmed, so the punishment might be lighter.
But what I hope for is that this is the end of it, that she won’t come near us again. Maybe I should seriously consider seeking a restraining order.
“But it’s surprising that the wallet protected you. It’s not a comic book after all… haha.”
“Hey, that’s rude.”
“Sorry about that.”
“No, no! It’s actually a relief when you can laugh about it.”
If there were no injuries, it would be better to treat it as a joke to avoid unnecessary worries. Apart from the punishment, it’s uncomfortable to be overly concerned by those around you.
I could hear a flustered voice from the adjacent room.
“It’s quite chaotic over there.”
“Reina must be really angry.”
“I see… I understand. Just make sure not to upset her. I don’t want to have to take another statement from you, it’s troublesome and sad for us too.”
Oh, that’s some dark humor from the police.
I definitely don’t want to end up needing police assistance for anything other than lost items or missing persons in the future, and while I might argue with Reina, breaking up is absolutely out of the question, so there shouldn’t be any incidents like this.
After that, there were some confirmations and questions, and then the two police officers left.
A little later, the two female officers also left, and Reina returned to our room.
