When My Younger Brother Stole My Girlfriend, I Began Living Together with My Beautiful Childhood Friend Almost As If We Were Married - Chapter 32
Episode 32: Attack of the Scumbag Younger Brother
Invading even the university… Just how bored is this guy? Doesn’t he have exams this year?
“Oh, I see. So because it’s confirmed that he’s retaking the year, he can just wander around and have fun, huh?”
“This…! You’re really getting cocky, huh?”
Takumi is yelling something, but I don’t care. I’m not just someone to be pushed around anymore.
It was about the time when most people finished their classes, so bystanders started gathering, curious about what’s going on. Among them, I spotted Amamiya and Shinohara.
They know about Takumi and me, so they can somewhat sense the situation.
But most people here don’t know us, so I feel uncomfortable getting attention. It would be helpful if even one staff member from the student affairs office showed up. Seriously, what are the security guards doing at this time?
Takumi, with his face flushed red in anger, looked somewhat ridiculous.
I wanted to laugh about it, but if I do something like that now, I’ll end up looking like a bad guy. I’ll refrain.
However, Reina didn’t hold back. Stepping forward beside me, she crossed her arms and glared at Takumi.
“Will you stop miserably stalking me and being so creepy? The person I love is Hayato, and there’s no way I’m going to fall in love with you no matter how many times I redo my life.”
Reina’s clear words were met with a sort of mocking laughter directed at Takumi from the surrounding crowd.
However, whether he didn’t hear or was ignoring it, Takumi seemed to be getting even more heated.
“Who’s the stalker? I’m telling you to be grateful and accept me as your boyfriend! I’m way more superior and excellent than my brother!”
“Where does that confidence come from? You’re nothing compared to Hayato, so stop being so conceited.”
Along with Reina’s retort, voices from the crowd could be heard.
“Yeah. That guy is way too creepy, right?”
“He’s insane and gross. Maybe he’s somewhat good-looking, but he’s not someone to talk about Iwasaki-san like that.”
“He’s so out of touch with reality. There’s absolutely no chance for him between Iwasaki-san and Matsui-kun, anyone can see that.”
Harsh words. It’s true, but does Takumi even hear them?
Some are making calls, as I caught snippets of words like “stalker,” “police,” indicating they might be reporting him.
The police should arrive soon. If that happens, Takumi will probably run, so at least we can resolve this situation for now.
Waiting eagerly for the sound of sirens, my gaze remained fixed on Takumi.
“You loser…! I’m way more talented and superior than my brother!”
“Saying things like that is why your humanity is in ruins. I’d rather be dead than become the girlfriend of a loser like you, and I certainly don’t want to become the kind of trash woman who chooses you.”
Even though there was no need to raise her voice just because Anna was there in the crowd, Reina probably intended it as a provocation towards Anna.
However, it seemed to have hit a nerve with Takumi, as he clenched his fist and lunged forward.
I reached out instinctively, but it was too late.
Takumi struck Reina’s cheek hard, causing her to stagger, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
Brief gasps echoed from the bystanders as Takumi attempted to strike her again.
Successfully sliding in to shield Reina this time, I intercepted Takumi’s movement just as Shinohara and Misaki moved through the crowd to restrain him, and simultaneously, Takumi’s fist pierced my nose.
Realigning my stance to protect Reina, I countered Takumi’s motion, delivering a straight punch to his solar plexus.
Takumi emitted a crushed frog-like sound as he squatted, and Shinohara pressed down on him from above.
Perhaps another report had been made after the initial incident, as a police car, which seemed to be heading our way, accelerated with its siren blaring.
Two police officers emerged from the parked car nearby, rushing toward Takumi with handcuffs in hand.
After Shinohara explained the situation, the nodding officer handcuffed Takumi in front of us.
“Damn it! Let me go! Bastards!”
“Don’t resist! Behave yourself!”
“We need backup here. Please.”
Resisting, Takumi was forcefully packed into the police car, kicking the officers’ legs.
I overheard a girl carrying textbooks mutter, “Obstructing official duties as well…,” and while my nose stung, I felt a sense of relief washing over me.
With a criminal record, his life is going to be tough from now on. Our parents will suffer too, but if they’re going to hell, they might as well go together.
“Hayato… your nose, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, but how about you, Reina?”
“I’m okay. It hurts a bit, though.”
Reina smiled awkwardly.
It’s the same as if I’d hurt her precious face myself, so I really feel sorry.
When I consulted with the police, they agreed to call an ambulance.
Thanking them, I headed straight to Reina’s side—
“Senpai…”
A spine-chilling voice.
Escaping one disaster only to face another, I truly understood what this kind of situation meant through my own experience.
