Episode 16: The Crossroad of a Disgusting Event
Misaki spoke with an expression as if she were recounting a cherished memory.
“The only one who saved me from that hell was none other than Saijo Yuya-sama. You took me and my mother into the Saijo family as household staff, provided us not only with wages but also a place to live.
None of my classmates or teachers, who all turned a blind eye, helped us in any way. Even now, after entering the upper school division, none of them have come to speak to me. Not once have I ever thought I wanted to be friends with such people. That’s why I want to stay by your side, Yuuya-sama.”
“…I see.” “Exactly. Besides, I’ve always thought you tend to overthink things, Yuuya-sama. Lately, you seem to have let go of that a bit, which is a relief, but until recently, I was genuinely worried you might collapse from the weight of it all.”
It seemed Misaki had completely seen through the villainous act that Saijo Yuuya had been forcing himself to play.
Well, considering she served so closely by his side every day, it was only natural. If the real Saijo Yuuya knew about this, he’d probably deny it vehemently, his face bright red.
“Well, let’s set that aside for now. I’ll be counting on you from here on out.”
“Yes! Leave it to me!” With that, Misaki and I spent another 30 minutes chatting before leaving the fast food restaurant.
Late at night, in the dead of night when even the servants had gone to bed. I was alone, making my way to an alley in a certain entertainment district.
“If I recall correctly, that event was supposed to happen tonight…” The reason I was here was because, in the original storyline where Saijo and Hojo Ayane get engaged, Ayane’s younger sister, Hojo Rion, sneaks into the Saijo estate late at night to rescue her sister.
On her way, she tries to take a shortcut through an alley in the entertainment district but gets caught by some thugs, triggering one of those infamous adult-game-style events.
Incidentally, if Rion is rescued here, it leads to her route. If she isn’t, a distressing and grotesque event plays out instead. This is the branching point.
“Hey there, missy. How about having a good time with me?” “What do you want!? Leave me alone! I’m in a hurry right now!”
“Oh, come on, don’t be like that. You’re hurting my feelings, y’know? That’s gonna leave me all broken up inside. I think some compensation is in order—how about 50 million yen?”
“A-Are you crazy!? Besides, there’s no way I can pay that kind of money!” “If you can’t pay, then you’ll just have to compensate with your body.”
This—this exact scene playing out before me—was straight out of the event.

Episode 17: Take Me to Your House
“This girl is with me. What were you trying to do to her?” “Huh? Don’t give me that crap! You wanna get yourself killed—Gah!?”
Deciding that talking wasn’t going to get us anywhere, I threw a punch at the thug’s jaw without holding back.
As expected of Saijo Yuuya. With all the training I’ve done, my opponent went down in a single hit.
If a middle-aged man with an eyepatch had been here, he might have suggested teaming up to take on the world. That’s how clean and powerful the strike was—even I had to admire it.
“…What’s your game? You probably set this guy up, didn’t you? The timing is way too convenient. If you’re going to hide your schemes, at least make it less obvious. Honestly, you’re the absolute worst.”
But despite having saved her in a moment of danger, Hojo Rion glared at me and called me the worst.
I understood perfectly well why she might say that. Still, hearing it directly after going out of my way to help her was a bit hurtful. Without showing it on my face, I shrugged off my jacket and tossed it to her.
“Cover up with this. I don’t know where to look. You don’t have to return it—just throw it away when you’re done.
Also, I get it if you don’t want to be around a guy, especially someone like me, right after being attacked, but if anything else happens, I might not be able to help next time. I’ll walk you home. Or would you rather come to my house to see Ayane? You were planning to sneak into my house tonight to rescue her, weren’t you?”
“S-Shut up! Who said I’d go anywhere with you—” “For the record, you don’t get a say in this. So, what’s it going to be?”
“…Fine. Take me to your house so I can see my sister.” “Got it.”
I had been expecting her to refuse, so I cut her off before she could reject the offer. Rion seemed to weigh the risk of walking alone at night in her current state—her clothes torn in places by that thug, leaving her skin exposed—against the risk of sticking with me.
After a brief moment of deliberation, she scowled as if she had just swallowed something bitter and said she wanted to see her sister, so I should take her to my house. She slipped on the jacket I gave her and pulled it tight to cover her chest.
“Hmph. If I’m going to be attacked, I’d rather it be by you. At least then I’d have some ammunition to hold against you later.”
“Sure, sure. If you’ve got time to run your mouth, I’ll just leave you here.”
“Hey, wait a second!! ……… Thanks.” “Huh? What’d you say?”
“I didn’t say anything! I said you should just drop dead, you idiot!!” And so, though I’d heard her perfectly well, I pretended not to as we continued on our way.
“Hey.” “Huh? Who the hell are you? Can’t you see we’re busy here? Beat it!”
