When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Realizing that the world I am living right now is a video game world, I pondered and considered various possibilities, but in the end, I came to the conclusion that no matter what, I am just a farmer’s child and there is nothing I can do to change my fate. I don’t expect to meet with any major characters or the protagonist in my lifetime, but if by any chance I do, I decided that I will avoid them and try my best not to be involved with them. I don’t want to accidentally change the course of the story and risk the world’s destruction.
Even though my family is not wealthy or rich by any means, my current life isn’t bad and I don’t mind spending my whole life as a farmer.
In the evening, my father comes back from the Northern town. He comes home just after my mom finished making dinner, so the three of us sit down at the dining table and have our meal together.
“Seeing them got all excited while wandering around town reminds me of myself when I was little.”
“Did you get excited when you went to town as a little boy too dad?”
“Yeah, that’s right. The scenery and the atmosphere there is just really cool. Just being in town made me really happy when I was little.”
“Heh, I see.”
We are eating a simple meal of bread and vegetable soup while talking with each other happily.
“Dad, come to think about it, how did the ritual go?”
“Ah! That’s right! Actually Sante, you know, Mino’s son, has a good status. His ritual went well. It seems that he might be able to attend school with the help of a lord. Mino was crying tears of joy when he found out about it.”
“That’s amazing! It’s been quite some time since the last time someone got some help from a lord to attend school, hasn’t it?”
“The priest said it has been six years.”
Sante-kun…he is the skinny boy who went to the northern town with dad, right?
So, he is Mino-san’s child. Well anyways, I am happy for him.
He got a good status, huh?
Hmm? Come to think of it, perhaps I can check my own status using the Silver Ring of Appraisal?
After we ate dinner, it’s time for bed. After mom and dad had gone to bed, I decided to put the silver ring of appraisal on my arm and use the appraisal skills to see.
Let’s see, how do I do this. Maybe I just have to casually think about my status?
Let’s try then.
I thought the display is going to appear in front of me, but instead, the status panel is like floating in my head.
Name :Neil
age: :8
job :Farmer (8/100)
lv :8
exp :1/100
skill : ——
HP :15/15
MP : 0/0
STR :8
VIT :5
INT :2
RES :2
AGI :5
DEX :6
Hmm, my status seems to be quite low.
By the way, when I asked Dad about Sante’s stats, which were supposedly good according to the ritual, he vaguely remembered them, but they if dad remembered them correctly, Sante’s stats are roughly three times higher than mine.
Sante’s level is 10. It seems that in this world, even if people don’t engage in battles or train to gain experience points, they will naturally level up by one level every year until the age of 15.
In other words, age is equivalent to level. However, if someone surpasses 15 years of age without engaging in training or battles, their level won’t exceed 15.
As for levels, the maximum level is 999, but I remember hearing in the game that regular soldiers are around level 30, while those heroes are around level 80.
The recommended level for the final boss battle is 80 or higher, and as the main character progresses through the story, they naturally reach a level close to that. I think the reason the level cap is 999 is because the recommended level for the hidden boss, which can be fought after completing the game, is 800 or higher. That hidden boss is ridiculously strong, and it didn’t make much sense to me.
Regarding Status, they will increase as the level goes up, but it seems that the Job System affects the rate of increase too. The level required for the job determines the increase to the status, and the higher-level the jobs are the higher your status will increase.
However, it seems that even with the same job, there can be differences in individual status.
During dinner, I asked Dad about it. It turns out that Sante also has the same job as me, which is a farmer. Even the two of them, Takuru and Ram, who went to the ritual together with Sante are also farmers at the same level, but Sante has a better status than them. So I think it’s natural to think that every people have different statuses, even with the same job and level.
In the game, I remember that even with the same level and job, there were slight differences in the stats among characters. So, I think that’s just how it works.
It seems that even with convenient things like stats, there’s a slight difference in talent or something that isn’t displayed. In that sense, it means that I have no talent, which is a bit sad.
Well, knowing that, I’ve decided to avoid getting involved with the main characters’ story even more and live a happy and modest life as a farmer in this remote farming village. I must avoid being dragged into unnecessary battles related to the main storyline.
