When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 61
Chapter 61
My journey with Saros and Meruru has reached the fourth day now.
Traveling with a beastman and his child is really lively and enjoyable. I truly believe that them having as my companions is the best.
If I went alone on my journey, it would have been lonely, anxious and challenging.
If I went with uncle’s business partners, as me and my uncle originally planned, I might have grown weary of them and lost the chance to appreciate the fresh sights and experiences that the journey offers.
The connections between people are truly mysterious, and yet, they are wonderful.
For the first three days after leaving Dasunza, we walked along a road that stretched across the plains.
As the sun begin to set, we stop walking down the road to make a camp. Then we gaze at the starry sky before falling to sleep. By the time the sun starts to rise, we wake up, get ready and watch the sun rise as we continue our journey.
I feel that my relationship with Saros and Meruru is growing closer each day. Even though someone might say Saros is scary, he is a very cheerful and easy-going person. I like his straight forward and honest personality as well.
On the other hand, Meruru is innocent and very lively. She occasionally plays pranks on me, but her lovely charm makes me can’t help but to forgive her mischievousness.
It seems that both Saros and Meruru takes a liking of me as well, and the more time we spend, the closer we seem to become.
As the fourth day comes, we can see the sight of a small town in the direction we are heading, and beyond that, in the far distance, I can see a big mountain in the bluish-white haze.
Crossing that mountain means, we will enter the Marwell territory. To reach that mountain, we will need to cross a large river and pass through a forest on the foot of the mountain.
“We finally can see our first town of our journey. We should be able to reach the town before nightfall. So, what are we going to do?”
The word ‘what are we going to do?’ Saros said is to ask me if we want to stay at an inn in the town or not.
“Let’s stay at an inn in the town.”
When adventurers are hired as escorts, it seems that the employer often covers their expenses for food and accommodation along the way, separate from the agreed-upon fee.
Before departing from Dansunza, me, my uncle, and Saros had already discussed about this.
My uncle said that it is only responsible for me to cover their expenses during our journey. So, uncle gave me quite some money for it.
Seeing me kept apologizing and feeling sorry for troubling him, my uncle said with a warm smile on his face.
‘Don’t worry about it, Neil. You can repay me when you become a great knight in the future. Until then, consider it as a loan.’
My parents will pay my escort fee to uncle later, but uncle is the one who covers my journey expenses with his own money. I can’t help but to feel bad for causing everyone so much trouble. With that thought in mind, I reaffirmed my determination to work hard and repay them one day.
During our discussion about the journey, my uncle apologized to Saros for the low escort fee. By the way, the employer has to decide how much they will pay for the request when it is posted.
For a commoner, it is actually quite a lot of money, but considering this is a request for escorting me to Sains, it is quite low compared to the usual rate for adventurers.
Saros said that he is grateful for the opportunity to take on the request, he is planning to go to Sains after all.
Saros seems to understand my financial situation, he even tries to minimize the expenses during our journey as best as he can.
