When I was Reincarnated into a Game World, I Was a Farmer’s Son - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
“Neil has turned 10 years old now! We have to go to town!”
It’s the day after I finally reach my target level to hunt monsters. While we are having lunch as a family after finishing the usual morning farm work, my father suddenly said so.
Town? Why? Ah, that’s right. I remember hearing that whoever turns 10 years old, they can receive free a divine revelation ritual and check their status at the church in town.
A few years ago, Mino-san’s son, Sante-kun, received a divine revelation when he turned ten years old. It turned out he has exceptional status values, which led him to get the chance to serve in a noble’s house.
Even though I say ‘chance’ it’s not like he had an option for saying no.
Revealing my stats through the divine revelation in my current state seems risky, doesn’t it? It would be quite conspicuous for a farmer’s child to have a level 30 at the age of 10. Normally, a farmer’s child wouldn’t focus on levelling up their level, on top of that I believe that reaching level 30 at the age of 10 is not an easy thing to do. I am able to do it due to the significant effect of the Sapphire Earrings which gives me the effect of 5x experience points gain.
If I really got the ‘chance’ to serve in a noble’s house, then that means I’ll have to leave Machikane Village.
If a noble told me, ‘Come to my place for a bit’, I wouldn’t be able to refuse it, it’s essentially an order for a common farmer like me.
I’ve made my decision to become stronger to protect my father and mother, and I want to live my whole life as a farmer. So, for me, there is no chance that I am going to leave Machikane village.
“You know, dad. I don’t want to go to the church.”
“Eh? You don’t want to go? Why not? You finally can go to town, the town is really fun you know!? It’s really cool!”
“I don’t know if the town is actually really cool or not, but I don’t want to go there.”
“Why don’t you want to go there?”
Well, this is really troublesome. I can’t come up with a good excuse for why I don’t want to go. Hmm, what should I say? Maybe I should just be honest about it.
“Well, you see, if I go to the church and my stats turn out to be good, I’ll have to leave home. When I grow up, I want to inherit the farm, you know.”
“You’re such a fool, Neil. If that happens, you’ll receive a lot of money, and then you can eat delicious foods every day!”
“But, you know, if I have to go to a noble’s place, I’ll have to learn manners and etiquette, right? It would be really hard for a farmer’s child like me, and if I accidentally offend a noble, it could cause a big problem, wouldn’t it? You wouldn’t like it if you are told to stay in a place you don’t want to be too right, dad?”
“Hmm, if you say so, then I think we have no other choice.”
“Dear, I think it’s alright. We can’t force Neil if he doesn’t want to go. Although, is it not often that nobles decide to adopt a farmer’s child with exceptional status values. But well, Neil can go to town with you as often as he wants when he’s a little older, so it’s no problem at all.”
Dad seems dissatisfied, but eventually, he reluctantly agrees with Mom’s words.
“But you know Neil, receiving the divine revelation for free is only available when you are 10 years old. If you miss this chance and want to check your status in the future, it will cost you a lot of money. This might be the only chance you get to see your status, are you okay with that?”
“Yeah, I’m totally okay with that mom. Thanks.”
It looks like I managed to convince my parents to not go to the church somehow. I feel relieved.
