It was sudden when I realized that this world was that of a certain game.
I’d been feeling a sense of déjà vu, or something similar, for a while.
A sensation that I’d seen or heard something like this before had been haunting me.
Today made it crystal clear, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say I remembered.
“Ren, are you coming home early today?”
“Yeah.”
I nodded as I was asked this while eating breakfast in the morning.
My full name is Ren Kamisato. That’s who I am.
The person who just spoke to me was Ryo Kamisato, my incredibly handsome older brother.
And there was another person in the room.
“If that’s the case, maybe I should finish up early and come home too. I have to make dinner as well.”
The one who said this was my older sister and Ryo’s twin, Asami Kamisato. Like my brother, she’s also incredibly beautiful.
Both are working adults with decent earnings. Having lost our parents early on and having felt lonely, they really were like parental figures to me in the truest sense.
“If Asami is coming home, then that’s good. I’ll be late though.”
“That’s fine. You’re probably going to pick up another girl anyway.”
“Shut up. You’re one to talk. Which president have you seduced this time?”
“…”
Hey, me—no, the past me. Why didn’t you think this conversation was abnormal? Amid such exchanges, I silently continued eating my breakfast.
Now, back to the topic.
Why did I realize that this world is based on a game? It was because these two are characters appearing in that game.
[Falling, Ever Deeper]
There’s a game with that name… As you can probably tell from the title, it’s a PC game intended for adults.
The genre falls under ‘Netorare’, depicting a story where the protagonist’s beloved childhood friend becomes tainted by pleasure and ultimately falls from grace.
While the protagonist’s face is never shown—a staple in erotic games—the heroine is meticulously illustrated.
(…She’s really cute and such a good girl.)
Arika Yumeno is the name of the heroine.
With her light pink hair and a body that many men would find appealing, her personality is also loyal and kind to the protagonist.
Despite being loyal, her kindness extends to everyone in the class, making her something like the class idol.
This game centers around the heroine, full of such appealing attributes, being taken away from the protagonist—it’s a game that could hurt one’s soul while playing it.
“…”
I steal a quick glance at my brother and sister, making sure not to be noticed.
Though it’s such a game, these two hold quite important positions among the characters.
First, my brother Ryo. I might as well just say it: he’s the man who takes Arika away from the protagonist. He looks good, has a fair amount of money, and appears to be a good young man as long as his true nature isn’t exposed. He’s perfectly suited for the role of the ‘stealer’ in a Netorare game.
And then there’s the other one, my sister, who is also quite the complex character.
In the classic style of Netorare games, there is a scene where Arika being taken away is shown.
This woman uses her own body to ‘comfort’ the protagonist who has been hurt by that experience. However, this isn’t out of kindness; her true nature is as twisted as Ryo’s.
“Let’s forget everything for now? You and I are in love. So just look at me for now, okay?”
At that moment, her expression was filled with what seemed like compassion, but what truly lurked within her was a sense of pleasure towards the protagonist’s misery. This woman relished the unhappiness of men more than anything else.
She would heal and uplift them, only to then gleefully plunge them into deeper despair. Based on the game’s depictions, she did the same not just to the protagonist, but also to other men.
There was truly no redemption for her.
“Thanks for the meal.”
“You’re welcome. Was it good?”
“Yeah.”
“Great, I’m glad♪”
She smiled joyfully, but I couldn’t bring myself to trust her.
But one thing puzzled me. As far as I knew, these twins shouldn’t have had a younger brother like me.
At first, I thought I was just imagining things, but as I listened to their conversations and observed their faces, everything aligned with the game, turning my suspicion into conviction.
I naturally accumulated a lot of disdain for these two while playing that game, but I never imagined that they would actually become my family.
“By the way, Ren, it’s been a while since you started high school. Do you have a girlfriend yet?”
“No, I don’t.”
“I see. If you want a girl, just say the word. I can introduce you to some nice ones.”
My brother has a terrible reputation with women but is surprisingly skilled at handling them, so I paused, considering his offer. After all, I’m a high schooler and I do have interest in such matters.
“Ryo, don’t say weird things.”
“…Alright, alright, what a twisted love.”
My sister’s sharp voice made my brother shrug his shoulders.
I caught a glimpse of her face—it was truly frightening. Nonetheless, I left the living room without giving it much thought.
As I was about to put on my shoes and go outside, she hurried over, her footsteps tapping along.
“Take care, Ren. Do your best with your studies.”
“Yeah…!!”
She hugged me tightly.
In the context of the game, she does develop a physical relationship with the protagonist, so does that make her a heroine? Even if she’s not, given that she’s a character in an eroge, her figure is quite incredible.
When she hugs me, my face ends up buried in her ample chest.
Still, being hugged by such a woman could lead to various complications, so I quickly extricated myself from the embrace.
“Ahh, Ren, you’re so difficult.”
“It was hard to breathe. Well, I’m off then.”
“Okay, take care.”
My sister saw me off, and I stepped outside.
I didn’t have any appointments, so I headed to school alone.
Along the way, I pondered my situation. I’d somehow been reborn into the world of the game, but whether I’d died of illness or an accident, or something else entirely, I couldn’t remember.
“…Well, no use thinking about it now.”
There was no guarantee that things would unfold as in the game. Worrying unnecessarily wouldn’t change anything.
If the characters have names, then at best, I’d be Male Student A.
Well, I’m not entirely estranged from Yumeno in class, and if push comes to shove, I could talk back to my brother too.
Finally, I arrived at my destination, Kawashiro High School.
“…Hmm.”
In this school, the protagonist and the heroine, childhood friends who have always been together, cultivate love. My brother is the one who introduces tragedy into that setting.
And my sister also serves as the catalyst that sends the protagonist spiraling into despair… Seriously, what role am I supposed to play here?
“Good morning, Kamisato-kun.”
“…Ah, good morning.”
A girl spoke to me as I sat down in my seat.
Her voice was sweet, easy to understand, and adorable. As I lifted my gaze, the first thing I noticed was her significant bust visible through her neatly worn clothes, the sort of thing that captivates and holds the attention of men—a dream packed into reality.
“What’s wrong? Ah, Kamisato-kun, you’re such a pervert.”
“No, when I looked up, that’s just what was there; I couldn’t help it.”
“Let’s just say that’s the case.”
The girl—Yumeno—smiled mischievously, clearly amused.
As I mentioned earlier, it’s not like we never talk in class; we do have some level of interaction.
To explain how our relationship became this way, I’d have to delve a bit into the past.
After Yumeno waved at her friend and headed in their direction, I felt a reasonably strong pat on my shoulder.
“Man, I’m jealous. You get to talk to Yumeno-san!”
“Hey, cut it out, Sogo.”
The one who patted my shoulder was Sogo Saito, a friend of mine. He’s in the soccer club and has good athletic skills. He also has a girlfriend in the class next door, so you could say he’s pretty well-off.
“Yumeno-san is perfect, you know? Beautiful, attentive, and those breasts… just irresistible.”
“You sound like a pervert. Well, no matter how much you pine, she’s Arisaka’s girl.”
“That’s true, but they’re not officially dating, right? They’re just childhood friends.”
“Arisaka is definitely into her, no doubt about it.”
With Yumeno’s name comes the mention of Arisaka.
Akito Arisaka—that’s the name of the protagonist.
They have been close childhood friends, and by their second year of high school, the prologue has it that Arisaka confesses and they start dating.
“Don’t you feel bad about Shinjo-san?”
“Yuka is a different story. Besides, I wouldn’t go so far as to abandon my girl for another woman.”
“…Fair enough.”
Well, that’s the norm, I suppose.
It was nearly time for the morning assembly, so I reached into my bag to pull out my study materials and place them in my drawer. Just then, I heard a crumpling sound.
“…Again?”
When I pulled it out, it was exactly what I’d expected.
[I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you…]
A fervent confession of love, but it’s not exactly the kind that makes one happy.
It’s already October, but I’ve been finding these eerie letters since around July. Sometimes they’re on my desk; other times they’re in my shoe locker.
Is it just a prank, or does someone genuinely like me? Either way, it doesn’t make me happy.
“…Sigh, I hope it’s nothing serious.”
The boy with a handsome face reflected in the window glass let out a small sigh.
Ah, that’s right, in this world, being the younger brother of those twins, I have a well-formed face.
Maybe I should be a little thankful to God for that…or maybe not.
Ever since I remembered, I’ve been wondering if there wasn’t a better place for me to have reincarnated into.
[Postscript]
This is something I previously posted on Narou.
It’s completed, so I’ll update it non-stop until the end.
