Chapter 15 – Prediction to Some Extent
“So you ended up leaving without hearing anything from her?”
“Yeah, that’s what happened.”
“Do you not mind?”
“No, I’m curious, but I should probably wait until senpai talks to me.”
“You’re the same as ever…”
At school, I told Sakazaki about my date with Yozora-senpai.
Sakazaki, who had listened to me normally until the middle of the date, seemed quite surprised by what happened at the end of the date.
That’s natural. I, too, was surprised by what happened.
“Well, but if Kuromiya-senpai’s father said long time no see, that means you two are acquainted, right?”
“I guess so. You wouldn’t greet someone you’ve never met before by saying ‘long time no see.’”
“But you don’t remember… You didn’t have a bad memory, did you?”
“I think I’m as good as anyone else.”
“Then there’s only one answer. It would mean that you met Kuromiya-senpai’s father before you could even remember.”
I was thinking about what Sakazaki was saying.
If I had met Yozora-senpai’s father when I was a small child, it would not be strange if he greeted me like that. If that’s really the case, the flow of the story will make sense.
“But Kuromiya-senpai’s father asked senpai, right?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“I mean, that means that she knew that you and her father had met, didn’t she? But she didn’t talk about it. The reason for that is…”
Sakazaki choked on his words there.
I could sort of predict that much, given the circumstances. But I couldn’t go on from there. I could think of many possibilities, but it just didn’t feel right.
“I don’t understand what’s going on here. In the first place, when in the world did Kuromiya-senpai find out that you and her father were acquainted? Did a lot of things change before and after you started dating?”
“Would it change anything that much?”
“Of course. If she had known…”
“Sakazaki, what’s wrong?”
“No, it’s nothing.”
Sakazaki suddenly stopped speaking, which caused me to be confused.
But the reason for this was immediately apparent. It was because I saw Ubara-san giving Sakazaki a sharp look.
“Akari, w-what’s wrong with you? …You’re ruining your cute face.”
“That’s because…Raito is saying various things, right?”
“No, that was… My bad.”
“Yes. Good.”
Uhara sat down on a seat near us and smiled.
I don’t know what’s going on, but if she’s here, I guess it’s time to go. With that in mind, I slowly stood up.
“Sakazaki, it’s time for me to go.”
“You’re going to Kuromiya-senpai?”
“Yeah, that’s right. I’m going to go and help the student council.”
“Such a dutiful guy…”
“It’s because I’m Yozora-senpai’s boyfriend, you know.”
Basically, I’ve decided that after school I’m going to help the student council with their work. Because that’s my role as Yozora-senpai’s boyfriend.
“Just because you’re Kuromiya-senpai’s boyfriend doesn’t mean you need to help the student council.”
“That’s the promise I made to senpai.”
“Promise, huh? But I don’t think it’s a good idea to ask someone to help out with student council because he or she is your lover…”
“…Well, I don’t think Kuromiya-senpai wanted Soichi-kun to help her.”
“Huh?”
It was Ubara-san who replied to Sakazaki’s words.
That statement of hers is something that bothers me too. Yozora-senpai definitely wanted me to help the student council. There’s no doubt about that.
“What do you mean by that?”
“What I mean is a secret. That’s because that would be bad for Kuromiya-senpai.”
“What do you mean, bad?”
“Well, anyway, Soichi-kun, you should go to Kuromiya-senpai as soon as possible. Don’t think too much about your date and treat her well. Maybe the time will come when she’ll talk to you, so just believe and wait for her.”
“Yeah, okay.”
At Ubara-san’s words, I nodded for the time being.
She seems to see through Yozora-senpai’s thoughts. I wonder how she could tell so much, even though they must have never met each other.
But I have the feeling that Ubara-san has been sharp about such things for a long time. Well, at any rate, I guess I’ll just have to trust Yozora-senpai and wait.
