When I reincarnated in the world of a gal game, I had memories of all the heroines being conquered, and it turned into a chaotic situation... - Chapter 18
“Yes, this is for you, Riku.”
Upon being addressed, I stopped leaning on my hand, which was on the desk.
Yui handed me a notebook, and I unconsciously accepted it.
“Yui? What’s this, a notebook?”
“Yeah, you were spacing out all day, so…”
She said that, and I looked around. The classes had already ended, and everyone was preparing to go to their part-time jobs.
When I looked down, my notebook, which only had sporadic notes, was open.
“Ah, sorry, Yui. This really helps.”
“No problem. From now on, I’ll take notes for Riku every day!”
“No, you don’t have to do that.”
“Oh, come on! I wanted to gradually make you dependent on me, unable to live without me.”
I had a feeling she thought that way.
“So, Riku, what were you thinking today?”
What was I thinking?… It was about Himeno.
Because of a dream I had in the morning, I couldn’t help but be conscious of it.
Himeno’s mother would pass away due to an unfortunate accident around the end of the first semester. As a result, Himeno and her mother would part ways without meeting. In Himeno’s route, she would find a diary and realize her mother’s love, but that happened after her mother’s death. The resentment between them never truly dissipated.
But now things are different. Himeno’s mother was alive, and Himeno was aware of her mother’s affection, becoming an admirable person herself. If things went well, it might even develop into a warm parent-child relationship like yesterday. However, whether that was a good or bad thing could only be determined by the individuals involved.
So I spent the whole day wondering what Himeno was thinking and feeling about it. Of course, I couldn’t tell Yui that…
“I was worried about the future.”
“It’s okay! I’ll support Riku, so don’t worry! You can lean on me anytime, and I’ll become a mother who gives birth to Riku’s child!”
Her thought process is so far in the future. Damn… that’s scary.
Well, I don’t know what will happen, but just in case.
“Yui, are you paired with Wakana for the assignment?”
“Thanks to you, we’re reluctantly working together.”
Dryly laughing at Yui’s obviously displeased expression, I took out the smartphone that was provided to us by the school administration.
“Oh, haha… let’s put that aside. Do you know Wakana’s contact information?”
“Reluctantly, since we’re partners, we exchanged it.”
“Could you tell me the details?”
“Eh, impossible… but well, if that b-tch does it forcefully, you might exchange your contacts eventually. Got it, Riku? Let’s exchange our contact information first, and I’ll send it through messages.”
“No, Yui’s first…”
“Huh?”
“I did it! It’s lucky that I got Riku’s contact!”
Yui was both happy and embarrassed as we exchanged contact information.

“Thank you very much!”
Watching the customer leave with a friendly smile, Himeno bid farewell. Today, she once again showed an impressive appearance as a diligent part-timer.
I found myself following her gaze.
Himeno seemed not to care, but what did she really think about her mother?
I’m curious. However, I don’t think I should get involved.
“It would deviate from my purpose to actively delve into this.”
My thoughts from yesterday haven’t changed.
Curious but doing nothing, I casually finished my work for the day.
“Himeno-chan, Riku-kun, the results of the midterm review for the assignment have arrived.”
After finishing work and going to the back, the shop owner handed us two envelopes.
Opening the given envelope we took out the paper from inside of it.
“We are first.”
“Oh, that’s fantastic! Well, of course! Your usual work is splendid, and you even gave suggestions for improving the store! Yeah, yeah, I’m so happy as if it were my own achievement!”
The condition of the students working part-time is reported not only through undercover investigations by the school but also directly from the supervisor of the store. The fact that the shop owner praised us might be one of the reasons we secured the top position.
“Huh? Himeno-chan, aren’t you happy?”
“Oh, um, of course, I am happy.”
Despite Himeno saying so, she doesn’t seem all that pleased.
The shop owner tilted his head, wondering. But he dismissed it with a slap of his hand.
“About tomorrow, are you both available?”
“Yes,” we nodded, and the shop owner began to speak.
“As I mentioned before, on weekends, the shifts are from 10 AM to 6 PM. We’re having a Cassata fair, so it might get busy. I’ve heard people are looking forward to it after seeing the flyers, so be prepared.”
It seems like it’s going to be busy.
“As for the Cassata we’ll be offering tomorrow, you’ll probably get questions like ‘What kind of dessert is it?’ Since it was your suggestion, I want you two to try the ones we made here.”
“Even though it’s before dinner, is it okay?” He asked, and Himeno and I nodded.
Then the owner went to the kitchen and brought two plates, handing us forks.
“Alright, give it a try. The taste changes with the melting, so go ahead right away.”
Prompted, I looked at the Cassata. It’s a pure white dough made by chilling ricotta cheese and cream, studded with various nuts and colorful fruits. It looks like a snowman adorned with illuminations and decorations.
Inserting the fork, it’s a bit hard since it just came out of the refrigerator. But as the fork sinks in, the texture seems smooth.
Cutting a piece, I put the fork in my mouth. As expected, it’s smooth, cold, sweet, and delicious. It melts smoothly in the mouth, and the fruits are pleasantly sweet and sour. But above all, the aroma of the nuts is intense and exquisite.
I already knew that this would make the shop famous, but actually tasting it confirmed the reason.
“How is it?”
The shop owner, with the eyes of a child seeking praise, looked at me. I felt like being a little rebellious, but I honestly answered, “It’s delicious.”
“Is that so! What about you, Himeno-chan?”
“Yes, it’s really delicious.”
“That’s great!”
The shop owner jumped cheerfully in joy, seemingly unaware, but Himeno seemed absent-minded. What on earth is going on with her?
After finishing eating, the part-time job was over. We left the shop and waited for our pick-up.
Although there was some sticky behavior last time, there is none today. She seems absent-minded, standing silently.
She must have some worries… It’s better to leave her alone.
I know that, but I can’t help feeling uneasy, so I spoke up.
“Himeno, do you have something on your mind?”
“As expected, Riku. You always see through everything about me.”
Unaware of my regret at being perceived in a disagreeable way, Himeno continued.
“Hey, Riku, will you listen to me?”
