When I Reincarnated as the Villain of a Game World, I Created a Harem and Broke the Protagonist's Heart and Efforts! - Chapter 57 : Cured Illness
As soon as the carriage came to a halt, I didn’t wait for the coachman to open the door and ran into the mansion.
The gardener tending the yard and the servants working inside the mansion greeted me with surprised looks, but I didn’t have the time to respond. I passed by without saying a single word.
I’ll have to explain everything to them later. After all, they are concerned about her too.
Reaching my destination, I stopped in front of a door on the second floor of the mansion. My heart was racing rapidly, but I took a deep breath to avoid startling her.
“Inhale… exhale… alright.”
I knocked on the door three times.
“Cough… cough… come in.”
The owner of the room replied in a weak voice mixed with coughing.
Yesterday, that same voice had filled me with an unbearable sense of frustration, anger at myself, and a feeling of helplessness that made me hesitate for a moment before entering the room. I didn’t want to see her suffering.
But today, knowing that it would all end, I moved forward naturally. I opened the door and entered.
“Nee-san, you came again today… cough.”
“You don’t need to force yourself to talk. Just lie down on the bed.”
“Then, I’ll take you up on that offer.”
With the help of the maid who was standing by, the owner of the room — my sister, Linsia Ruinveil—lay down on the bed. It was evident that her body was ravaged by illness.
Linsia had fallen ill six years ago, at the age of ten. Initially, her symptoms were like those of a common cold, so we had the doctor from the Ruinveil estate prescribe medicine and monitor her condition.
However, despite the doctor’s treatment, Linsia’s condition worsened day by day. Finding this strange, we had the doctor re-examine her, but he couldn’t identify the cause. We then brought in a doctor from the imperial capital, who diagnosed it as a new, previously unknown disease.
Naturally, there was no known cure for this new illness.
Our family moved to the imperial capital while her symptoms were still mild, believing that the empire’s center, with its abundance of resources and skilled people, would offer a cure for Linsia.
For nearly six years, we tried everything, but Linsia’s condition only deteriorated. The only hope we found was a rare and extremely expensive elixir known as the “Panacea”.
Six years into her illness, she could barely get out of bed and could hardly eat. The signs of death had begun to show. I feared it might be too late, yet I couldn’t stop fighting, hoping every day for a miracle.
Now, that hope was in my hands. I could finally save Linsia.
I knelt beside her bed, meeting her eyes.
“Linsia, can you try a little harder?”
“…Yes.”
“Good girl.”
Smiling at Linsia’s determined eyes, I uncorked the vial in my hand with a satisfying pop.
“Linsia, are you ready?”
“Yes, I’m ready.”
I brought the vial to Linsia’s lips and gently tilted it, letting the contents flow into her mouth. As she swallowed, her body began to emit a faint glow.
“Nee-san, what is this…?”
“It’s alright. I’m here with you.”
Holding her hand, I watched as the light slowly faded away. Linsia blinked in surprise as she clearly felt the effects of Panacea.
“Nee-san, what just happened?”
“I don’t know, but something must have changed in your body.”
“Something… oh, my chest doesn’t hurt…?”
Linsia sat up, clutching her chest. She was so focused on the relief from the pain that she didn’t realize she had managed to sit up without the maid’s help.
The maid, astonished, covered her mouth with her hand and then hurriedly left the room, likely to inform our parents.
“Nee-san.”
“What is it?”
“What did you give me to drink?”
“A panacea.”
“That means…?”
“Linsia, you’re cured. You won’t suffer anymore.”
“Nee-san… thank you… thank you so much…”
Tears welled up in Linsia’s eyes. When I opened my arms, she immediately threw herself into them, crying out all the pain and hardship she had endured.

Shortly after, our parents rushed into the room upon hearing the maid’s report. They were overjoyed to see Linsia looking so much better, tears of relief streaming down their faces.
Now, I was in the study with my father, explaining how I had obtained the panacea and the price I had paid for it. My mother stayed behind with Linsia, as I didn’t want her to hear this conversation so soon after her recovery.
After explaining everything, my father sighed deeply, looking conflicted.
It’s understandable… The price for the panacea was my own body. From a parent’s perspective, it’s hard to accept that I essentially became a sacrifice to cure Linsia.
My father exhaled softly and spoke.
“I understand. Now that the panacea has been used, there’s no turning back.”
“Yes.”
“You’ve always had a habit of neglecting yourself, but I never imagined it would go this far…”
“I’m sorry…”
“No, I’m not angry. But please, take better care of yourself.”
“I will.”
It was clear from his words that my father was deeply worried about me.
“For now, we must thank the person who provided the panacea. But without knowing his name, it’s difficult.”
“I believe I can find him. The one who gave me the Panacea had black hair.”
In the Luvia Empire, there aren’t many people with black hair, even in the magic academy, so it shouldn’t be too hard to locate him.
Besides, from our brief conversation, I could tell he wouldn’t leave this matter unresolved.
“Black hair, you say? Was this student a noble?”
“Probably, since he had a maid accompanying him.”
“I see. I have a few ideas about who it could be. If they are reasonable, we might be able to negotiate further.”
My father, who had extensive business connections, seemed to have a few potential candidates in mind.
“Reina, as soon as you find out who he is, report back to me.”
“Understood.”
Starting tomorrow, I’ll focus on finding that student.

Yay! I’m glad that her sister got well. Who knew that accidentally making a panacea would give Wraith an opportunity to acquire an S-tier or SS-tier subordinate? One less heroine for the protag(s) to acquire. 😈
