When I Maxed Out the Zero-Star Saintess, a Yandere Confinement Life with Overwhelming Love Began - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
From the top of the city wall, a giant wrapped in black mist was slowly walking toward us.
The demon god, easily thirty meters tall. In the original game it was the worst end-game content, the thing we players cursed as “a walking HP sponge.”
The living embodiment of the devs screaming, “Pay to dupe your characters!”
And right in front of it, a tiny white figure landed like a grain of rice.
『GUOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!』
The demon god roared. Celesfia didn’t flinch a single hair; she just looked up at it with open annoyance.
The demon god swung down a massive fist. Celesfia didn’t dodge. She didn’t even put up a magic barrier. She simply raised her right hand and, toward the descending fist, casually flicked her middle finger against her thumb.
Snap.
A dry little sound. A half-hearted flick, like swatting a bug.
The next instant.
GOH… BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
The demon god’s entire upper body vanished. It looked like the laws of physics had glitched out. Before the fist could even touch her, a shockwave disassembled the creature at the atomic level, and the leftover blast cleaved the thick rain clouds behind it clean in half.
Clear blue sky spread wide. Whatever had been the demon god dissolved into black particles and melted away on the wind.
Celesfia clapped the dust off her hands and turned on her heel as if nothing had happened. The soldiers on the wall stood frozen. Sizzle and I watched from afar.
(No mistake. This is my fault.)
I stared at my own palm. Just an ordinary hand, yet it was a switch that could shatter the world’s balance. Sizzle’s monstrous strength, Celesfia’s instant-kill attack, both happened because I touched them.
“…Well then, Lyle-san. No, Master.”
Sizzle turned to me with a smile beautiful enough to send chills down the spine.
“I believe that’s proof enough. You possess the skill to make the saintess invincible, which makes you a strategic asset on the level of highest national secret.”
“…Hard to argue when there’s zero evidence against it.”
“From this moment forward, we will be placing you under ‘protective custody.’ You have no right to refuse, but I’m willing to take requests for sheet color?”
“Well… my house is already gone anyway.”
“Yes. Reparations included.”
My sarcasm slid off her like water. She looked far too happy for someone talking about atonement.
But before I could answer, a gust of wind roared past.
With a soft thud, a white shadow landed between us.
“I’m back. Lyle-sama, Sizzle.”
Celesfia. Not even breathing hard after erasing the demon god. Only her topaz eyes burned hotter and brighter than before the fight.
“Celesfia-sama, welcome home… that was fast.”
“Yes… I hurried.”
She walked straight to me and wrapped both arms tightly around mine. Softness and feverish warmth pressed against me.
“W-what the—!?”
“…All of a sudden the strength just drained out of me.”
“Your status says you’re still perfectly fine?”
“No, I can’t go on… and besides.”
Celesfia shifted her gaze to Sizzle. The light in her pupils vanished completely.
“…Sizzle. Why are you touching my Lyle-sama?”
“Caring for Master is the duty of the head maid.”
“Caring? …No, thank you. Ownership rights over Lyle-sama belong to me… the key, the collar, all of it.”
…Collar? Ownership? Where exactly am I going to live?
The air froze solid. A thick, syrupy possessiveness dripped from every word, nothing like the hero who had just saved the world. Sizzle kept her relaxed smile, but sparks flew deep in her eyes.
Looking down at the cheering capital wrapped in celebration, I thought:
The demon god is dead.
But my quiet mob life died right here, too, once and for all.
