Chapter 1: Prologue – The Runaway Senior
“Damn… Just because I have the day off tomorrow and my mom isn’t home, I ended up staying out late.”
I muttered to myself while walking along the dark night road.
The time was already approaching 8 PM, which was a bit late for a high school student to be out.
“Chinese food every once in a while isn’t bad… Damn, that was delicious.”
That being said, I rubbed my stomach, feeling like I might have eaten too much.
“Next time, I’ll invite those guys on a day off… Huh?”
Just as I was about to reach home, I spotted someone unexpected.
She was standing with her back against the shutter of a closed shop, staring intently at her phone. Maybe because I stopped to look, our eyes met.
“Ah…”
“…………”
The girl wearing the same school uniform as me was a senior I recognized.
“…Motomiya-senpai.”
Hinata Motomiya.
She was a second-year senior and fairly well-known. If you asked why she was famous, it was simply because she was incredibly beautiful.
Shoulder-length black hair, the unbuttoned top of her blouse revealing a glimpse of her ample cleavage, and her short skirt exposing thick, curvy thighs… Her physical features alone were stunning, but more than anything, her face was strikingly beautiful.
(…She’s just as sexy and gorgeous as ever.)
Since she was my senior, I’d never had a chance to talk to her, and even when I saw her, it was just passing by in school. But as a guy, I couldn’t help but notice a senior this beautiful.
I had even thought, just a little, about how amazing it would be if someone like her were my girlfriend.
“Motomiya-senpai… What are you doing here?”
“You are… um…”
“I’m Mikasa. Mikasa Tsubaki.”
Senpai made an “Ahh” face like she understood, but it didn’t seem like she actually knew me… Well, of course not.
She quickly looked away from me and focused on her phone again.
“…………”
“…………”
An awkward silence stretched between us.
“Um…”
“…………”
I stayed there for a while, but unable to endure the atmosphere, I walked past her.
Why was she out here at this hour? Why was she still in her uniform, with no signs of having gone home? I figured she had her own reasons, and it wasn’t my place to worry about it.
“…Wait, is it raining?”
Just as I was about to reach home, a sudden downpour began.
“They did say it might rain in the evening… I let my guard down because it never happened.”
I started running as soon as the rain fell, but I still ended up pretty wet.
Not wanting to catch a cold, I thought about taking a quick shower, but… for some reason, I couldn’t shake a feeling of unease.
“…………”
No, to be exact… I was worried about what happened to senpai in this rain.
“No way, she must’ve gone home by now… Besides, what’s the point of me worrying?”
More than that… if a guy who’s never talked to her suddenly showed concern, she’d probably think I had ulterior motives.
“I don’t want her to think that… but I can’t exactly say I don’t.”
That was the dilemma.
Ulterior motives? Of course I had them. I mean, who wouldn’t get excited imagining a romance with someone like her?
“…………”
Alright, I should just do my homework, even though I was planning to put it off until Sunday.
That’s what I told myself, but instead of heading back to my room, I found myself at the entrance.
“Seriously… What’s wrong with me today?”
I opened an umbrella, grabbed a spare, and stepped outside.
Later, I briefly checked the news and saw that there was going to be a storm warning lasting until the next morning.
“A storm-level downpour? If she’s still out in this, she’d have to be insane.”
I laughed dryly as I headed back to where she had been.
“…Huh?”
……Huh?
“……Wait, what?”
That’s strange… She’s still here?
Thinking it had to be impossible, I stepped closer.
There she was, standing there, looking up at the sky in helpless resignation.
“…You.”
“What are you doing, senpai?”
She widened her eyes in surprise when she saw me again.
“…Why are you here?”
“That’s my line.”
I didn’t expect her to still be here. Even though she was under a tiny awning, the strong wind had soaked her.
I quickly walked up to her and handed her my spare umbrella.
“This is…?”
“Use it. Though in rain this heavy, it’s probably useless for your feet.”
“…………”
“…Come on, just take it already.”
“U-Um, okay.”
She hesitantly took the umbrella, startled by my raised voice.
“So… why are you still here?”
“…Did I make you worry?”
“I never see you around here, and the rain was awful.”
“…Well, yeah. I can’t exactly call it a nuisance, so I guess I’ll talk.”
“Alright.”
“I ran away from home.”
“…Huh?”
She ran away…? Like, that kind of running away?
When I asked for details, she told me she lived in a single-parent home like me, but her relationship with her mother was terrible.
Apparently, they had a huge argument when she got home today, and she couldn’t stand seeing her mom’s face.
“So I just left.”
“I see…”
“Hotels are too expensive, my friends would just tease me, and I definitely don’t want to ask my ex-boyfriend for help.”
“I see…”
From the way she spoke, it was clear that she had absolutely no intention of going home.
She mentioned a hotel, but there weren’t any nearby, and a taxi would cost a lot… So, I said something without thinking.
“My house is empty tonight… Do you want to come over?”
“…Huh?”
The moment I said it, I regretted it.
I mean, yeah, before I left my house, I was debating whether I had ulterior motives. But this wasn’t about that—I just said it naturally, out of genuine concern.
Besides, leaving her here didn’t sit right with me.
“…Uh…”
“Are you sure?”
There was a hint of expectation in her voice.
I… nodded.
“Then… I’ll take you up on that.”
“S-Sure!”
…Wait, wait, wait, seriously!?
I figured she’d reject me no matter how desperate she was, so I felt more nervous than excited.
“What’s wrong?”
“N-No, it’s just…”
She stepped closer and looked up at me.
Her already stunning face was even more captivating up close, her wet hair sticking to her skin, her soaked uniform turning slightly see-through… The lacy black underwear peeking through was seriously erotic.
“Uh, excuse me for a second!”
“H-Huh!?”
In a panic, I handed her the umbrella and did a handstand against the shop wall.
“…Are you okay?”
“Well… There’s a reason for this.”
“A reason?”
“I told myself earlier that if you were still here in this storm, I’d do a handstand.”
“…Pfft… Ahaha! Hahaha!”
“You’re laughing that much?”
“I mean, you’re the first person I’ve ever seen do something like that!”
…Well, if it made her laugh, I guess it wasn’t so bad.
After finishing my handstand, I started walking—toward my house, of course.
“Man, I never thought today would turn out like this. I’m lucky to have such a kind underclassman.”
“I’m just as surprised as you are.”
Soon, we arrived at my house.
I’d never had a girl my age over before, and I was nervous… But nothing weird was going to happen. She’d just stay the night and leave tomorrow. That’s it!
Or so I thought.
Because this decision… would change my life forever.
“…Huh?”
“…Zzz… Zzz…”
The next morning, I was stunned.
Lying in bed next to me was senpai—completely naked. And I wasn’t wearing anything either.
That’s when everything came flooding back.
“…I screwed up.”
A dry whisper escaped my lips.
