- Chapter 26: Living Together (Part 2)
Daichi Itakura:
“Tada! Nice to meet you, Otosaki—” (Rin)
“……..” (Daichi)
“Kyaa!” (Otosaki)
“I… I think I should come later.” (Rin)
Rin immediately left the room almost as soon as she saw us. Meanwhile, Otosaki hid behind me in embarrassment.
“I’m sorry. It’s my fault for not locking the door. My sister never knocks before coming into my room.”
“I… I see. What should we do now, though?”
“I guess… we should call her after all.”
“Y-Yes.”
Truth be told, I wanted to spoil Otosaki a little more, but after what happened right now, it was awkward. I decided that after dinner would be a better time to continue.
We then went down to the living room where we met Rin and properly told her the full story of Otosaki. At first Rin thought we were joking but when she understood we were not, she stopped smiling.
“Wait, that’s terrible! Otosaki-san, your mother is a horrible parent. How could she…. anyway did she call or message you today?” (Rin)
“No, she didn’t.” (Otosaki)
“I see. By the way, do you have any money left?” (Rin)
“I have some money. But that’s not much.” (Otosaki)
“Okay. Don’t worry, Otosaki-san. You can stay here as long as you want. I will take care of it.” (Rin)
“T-Thanks.” (Otosaki)
I could see Otosaki’s eyes getting wet. She probably got emotional after the support she got from Rin.
“B-But… if I stay here for a long time, it will be financially too much of a burden for your family.” (Otosaki)
She was right. That was indeed the biggest problem.
“I know. But I’m sure we will find out a solution together soon. Until then Otosaki-san should just stay here. After all, you’re my brother’s precious girlfriend.” (Rin)
“T-Thank you again.” (Otosaki)
Otosaki took a quick glance at me with her embarrassed face. She then bowed down to Rin gratefully.
“It’s okay. But now, let’s ask the biggest question.” (Rin)
“What is it?” (Otosaki)
Rin suddenly smiled devilishly at Otosaki and asked,
“In which room will you sleep tonight? My brother’s or mine?” (Rin)
“…….” (Otosaki)
“…….” (Daichi)
Oh sh*t… I completely forgot about that. Now I felt my face heating up. Otosaki’s head was also turned into a steam engine.
I decided to quickly intervene in the matter.
“I guess it will better for a girl to sleep inside a girl’s room.” (Daichi)
“Oh really? What does Otosaki-san think?” (Rin)
“I…. I…. think it would be good if I sleep in Rin-san’s room.” (Otosaki)
“Boo… no fun. Just kidding, I’m happy. Let’s talk a lot of stories before sleeping.” (Rin)
Otosaki nodded but she also glanced at me occasionally.
————————————————————————————–
After I took my bath, I sat down on my bed. I was waiting for Otosaki and then Rin to complete their bath. After that, we would take our dinner.
I took a deep breath to understand the situation once again. Otosaki would live together with me for now. It was amazing how not even a month have passed since we first met. In these few weeks, we became so close.
At this moment, someone opened the door to break my thoughts. It was Otosaki. She just completed her bath. As soon as she entered, the room was filled with sweet fragrance. She then sat right beside me, which didn’t help my heart at all.
Jeez… I was losing my mind once again. Why are you so cute?
“Daichi-kun…”
“Yeah?”
“What were you thinking?”
“N-Nothing. It’s just… I needed to study now. But I don’t think I have any energy left.”
“Fufu… it’s okay to take rest some days. Do we have any class test tomorrow?”
“No.”
“Then it’s alright. Daichi-kun is already such a good student.”
I sighed and smiled at her softly. It’s true that I was more than decent in studies. However, I couldn’t take the subjects lightly.
“Otosaki you see… I always fear that if I don’t study well, I wouldn’t be able get a decent job, and then nobody will marry me. Ouch!”
Suddenly I was hit by Otosaki at the back of my head. She was looking at me with her cute pouty expression.
“What are you even saying!? You already have me right??”, she asked me while clinging onto my arms.
“Y-Yes I do.”
“Then why are you thinking such things? I will always be together with Daichi-kun, no matter if he has a good job or not. You don’t have to worry about it.”
“I see… I’m grateful.”
“Fufu… No matter what happens in future, one thing is certain that Daichi-kun and I will always be together. We might face problems… but we will tackle them together.”
It was as if she was telling a children’s fairytale story – “And then they happily lived together forever!”. How cute… unfortunately that’s always not the case in real life. Anyway I didn’t want to ruin the mood so I preferred to stay quiet.
She then buried her face onto my chest which almost drove me insane. Keeping my composure, I gently wrapped my arms around her back as well.
“By the way, can I ask you something, Daichi-kun?”
“Yes. Tell me.”
“You love me, right?”
“Of course.”
“But you also liked many girls before too?”
“Eh?”
“I mean you did confess to four girls before. And they all rejected you?”
It was true, that I confessed to many girls since middle school – four in total. And all were rejected.
“Yeah. Well, now it seems I was lucky that they rejected me. Because otherwise I wouldn’t have got to meet Otosaki.”
I gently stroked her head while answering her.
“Yes… I’m lucky as well. In the past, I liked Rintaro. But if Yumiko didn’t exist, I would probably still be liking Rintaro. Thanks to her, in a butterfly effect, I got to meet Daichi-kun.”
Indeed… what a butterfly effect!
We both laughed remembering about the time we first met. At that time, I thought Otosaki to be a “psychopath yandere”. To be honest, she still was a yandere but no way she was insane or psycho. In fact, she turned out to be the cutest girl I ever met.
“But Daichi-kun… you still liked those girls whom you confessed, right?”
“Huh?”
“Can you tell me who were those girls?”
“…….”
Wait… why did her expressions… become somewhat scary?
What was going on her mind?
[To be continued]
A.N.: It turned out she was insane after all.
