Chapter 39: Another Woman
“─Sir Luke… Was I able to help heal your wounded heart, even just a little?”
After spending some time with my face buried between Celestine’s chest, she finally released me. Once I opened my eyes and saw she had put her clothes back on, she asked me that question.
“…Yes.”
Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my heart had been healed, but I didn’t want to think that the whole experience had been pointless. The softness and warmth I felt from Celestine were certainly comforting—no, wait!
I quickly shook my head to clear those thoughts, and Celestine, pleased with my response, spoke with a happy smile.
“I’m glad to hear that… Next time, I’ll do the same for you again. Of course, without wearing any undergarments.”
“…!?”
Shocked by the mention of “next time,” I couldn’t help but react, and Celestine, blushing, continued.
“By the way, Sir Luke… I couldn’t help but notice that you were rather… large down there. Are you feeling uncomfortable? If you are, I could—”
“N-No! I’m fine, don’t worry about it!”
Even though she had just embraced me without her undergarments, I couldn’t possibly let her help me with that. I hurriedly denied the offer, and Celestine, looking slightly disappointed, responded.
“I see… I’ve heard that when men can no longer resist their desires, they tend to visit certain establishments in town… but—”
Celestine gently placed her hand over mine and smiled warmly.
“You have me, Sir Luke. So, whether it’s for something like that or for any other reason, if you ever find yourself in trouble, please don’t hesitate to come to me for help with anything.”
There’s absolutely no way I could ever ask her for help with something like that! I told myself firmly. After a brief pause, Celestine seemed to remember something and added:
“During our previous dinner, Lady Claire said that she would protect you, even if it led to a civil war… I didn’t say anything at the time, but—if it comes to that, I too will make sure to protect you, Sir Luke, even if it means facing a civil war. So if you ever find it too difficult to endure Lady Claire’s actions, please come to me anytime.”
“…Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind.”
“That’s all I ask.”
Celestine smiled softly.
I’ll consider this a last resort—something to fall back on only if Cecifelia realizes who I really am or becomes extremely angry with me for some reason.
“By the way, Sir Luke… There’s something that’s been on my mind. May I ask about it?”
“What is it?”
Given the current conversation, I assumed it had something to do with Cecifelia.
If Cecifelia had made any moves that I wasn’t aware of due to my position as a slave, it would be helpful to get some information now.
With that thought in mind, I listened closely as Celestine spoke.
“Why didn’t you… look at my chest, Sir Luke?”
“…Huh?”
Her question caught me completely off guard, far from what I had expected. Celestine elaborated.
“I’ve learned that men are often drawn to a woman’s chest… But you didn’t look at mine when I removed my undergarments. Why is that? You said you found my body attractive… but do my breasts not suit your preferences?”
“N-No, it’s not that…”
When I said I found Celestine’s body attractive, I meant that her chest was included in that… but—
“It’s just that… looking directly at a woman’s chest is… embarrassing.”
“…!”
When I answered, Celestine let out a small sound and continued speaking.
“Sir Luke, your face is red… Despite your usual strong-willed gaze and the serious air you carry, you really are just like any other young man in this way… It’s quite adorable.”
Celestine, blushing herself, gently tightened her grip on my hand and spoke in a sweet tone.
“I have feelings for you that I’ve never felt for any other man before… Why do you captivate my heart so much?”
“…”
We sat in silence for a moment before I spoke.
“Sorry, I should be heading back soon, or Miss Cecifelia might get upset. I think I should leave now.”
Hearing this, Celestine’s expression softened, and she smiled kindly.
“I understand… Thank you for spending such a pleasant time with me today. I’m truly grateful.”
With that, I left, and after Celestine saw me off, I got into the carriage and made my way back toward the city.
During the ride, I glanced at the clock in the carriage.
“I spent more time here than I expected…”
But it’s still within a reasonable time frame.
Now, I need to head to the church, meet with Lyra, and start planning the downfall of the Elenorde Empire.
“…”
As I let my mind wander, the quiet moments made me remember the feeling of Celestine’s chest pressing against my face, the sweet scent, and even the brief sound of her voice rising in pleasure.
“…I need to forget all that before I meet with Lyra.”
When I arrived in the city, I stayed alert to any watching eyes as I quickly made my way to the church where Lyra was waiting.
The more I tried to push the memory of Celestine from my mind, the harder it clung to me while I was in the carriage. But once I started running, the thoughts naturally faded, and soon I reached the church.
As I entered, I immediately recognized the familiar figure in a white robe with gold details and red markings on the sleeves—the back of Lyra, the Saintess, with her long, bright blonde hair.
“Saintess, I have something to discuss regarding the matter we talked about. Do you have some time now?”
“That voice…”
I couldn’t call Lyra by her name in front of others, so I addressed her respectfully from behind.
She quickly turned around and, clasping her hands together, spoke with excitement.
“Lord Luke! I’ve been waiting for you! I have plenty of time, so please come this way!”
After inviting me into the Saintess’s chamber, Lyra locked the door, just as she had before, and then offered me a cup of tea.
“…Thank you, Lyra.”
“Oh, Lord Alex, for you to thank me…! I am truly grateful for your kindness!”
“……”
Though I found it odd that she locked the door again, I let it go, since we would be discussing important plans today. It was crucial that no one overheard our conversation.
Lyra knew what we needed to talk about, so I wasn’t worried about the door being locked causing any problems.
As I sipped the tea, Lyra came closer and spoke.
“Lord Alex, it’s been about a week since I last heard from you, and I was terribly worried… During our time apart, I trust nothing serious happened?”
“Yeah, nothing happened.”
“Oh, thank goodness…! I was so anxious, worrying that something might have happened to you, but as long as you’re safe, I—”
Her voice trembled as she spoke, but for some reason, she suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
“Lyra…? Is something wrong?”
I looked away from my tea and turned towards her. That’s when I noticed her once bright pink eyes had darkened as she quietly spoke.
“Lord Alex… I can smell the scent of another woman on you… Could it be that you met with someone else before seeing me?”
