Chapter 27: A Sense of Impending Disaster
After learning quite a bit about the church, especially about the central figure, the Saintess, I made sure to return to the Cecifelia’s estate in time for our promised meeting at 7 PM. In fact, I got back in the early evening, well before the agreed time.
Yesterday, Cecifelia had surprised me by waiting for me when I returned to the estate, so today I was mentally prepared. But since it was still some time before our meeting, she didn’t seem to be around.
With that in mind, I walked through the estate and knocked on the door of the room where Cecifelia was likely working.
“Miss Cecifelia, I’ve just returned.”
“Luke! Come on in!”
Her voice was bright and loud from inside the room. Following her words, I stepped into the room, where Cecifelia came to greet me near the door.
“Welcome back, Luke! You kept your promise today!”
“Yes, I’m truly sorry about yesterday.”
“It’s fine as long as you’ve reflected on it. You’re such a good boy, Luke.”
With that, Cecifelia reached out and patted my head.
After a moment of doing so, she let her hand drop and then spoke loudly.
“That’s right! Luke, since you kept your promise, I need to give you some kind of reward… Is there anything you want as a reward? Maybe, since you’re a boy, you’d like to touch my breasts?”
“…! N-No, I don’t want to touch them!”
I strongly denied it, but Cecifelia smirked slightly, her cheeks flushing as she spoke.
“But yesterday, just seeing me in my underwear made you get so big, didn’t it? Isn’t that proof that you’re interested in my breasts… or maybe my body in general?”
“That was… just a natural reaction! It’s not something I can control with my will—”
“If it got that big without your control, doesn’t that mean you’re holding it in too much? If it happens on its own, it’s not normal. Maybe it’d be better to release it. If it was under your control, that’s one thing, but if it’s not, it means you’ve been restraining yourself too much.”
“…! T-That’s not what it means…”
“Then, can you tell me again whether it happened because you wanted it to, or if it happened on its own?”
If I said it was intentional, I’d be admitting that I had inappropriate thoughts about Cecifelia in her underwear. But if I said it wasn’t intentional, she’d just tell me I’ve been holding back too much, and I could guess what might happen next.
Ugh… Why do I have to think about something like this!?
As I struggled to figure out which option would be better for my dignity and chastity, Cecifelia looked at me and spoke.
“Luke, your face is bright red! Did I tease you too much? I’m sorry, I just got a little excited because you came back earlier than I expected.”
“…!!”
Even though I made it back on time, I ended up taking some emotional damage from Cecifelia. For a while, my mind was filled with embarrassment, replaying that strange question over and over again.
Once I managed to calm down a bit, it was time for dinner, so we headed to the dining hall together to eat.
As we ate, I decided to ask Cecifelia something that would help me move forward smoothly with my plans tomorrow.
“Miss Cecifelia, may I go out to the city again tomorrow?”
Since I made it back on time today, I thought she’d agree…
“I’m sorry, Luke, but could you stay home tomorrow?”
I was refused.
“…Why?”
“I think I mentioned it before, but tomorrow, there’s a dinner with some people from another ducal family. I’d like you to attend with me.”
Ah, now that she mentions it, I do recall hearing something like that… but still.
“Why do you want me to be there?”
“Well, partly because I just want to show you off, Luke! But also, I got a message from the duke recently, and they specifically requested that the slave I bought be present as well.”
They asked for… me?
…I guess they’re curious since I’m Cecifelia’s slave.
…Either way, it seems like I won’t be able to visit the church and meet with the Saintess tomorrow.
“I understand. If that’s the case, I’ll stay here tomorrow.”
“Thank you! Oh, and Luke—”
Cecifelia picked up some salad with her fork and held it out toward my mouth.
“Say ahh.”
“I’m not doing that.”
“…Luke, ahhh—”
“I’m not doing it.”
After refusing her twice in a row, Cecifelia put the fork back on the plate with the salad and raised her voice.
“Geez! I was looking forward to feeding you, Luke! Why won’t you eat!?”
“I can’t possibly have someone like you, a duchess, doing that for me, Miss Cecifelia.”
“Aw, you don’t have to worry about things like that!”
Of course, it wasn’t that I was really worried about such things. But since Cecifelia is from an enemy country, I wanted to avoid being fed by her, so I told a small lie.
After some more back-and-forth like that, I somehow managed to dodge Cecifelia’s advances. Afterward, we each took a bath, and as usual, we ended up sleeping in the same room.
While lying in our separate beds, I asked her something that had been on my mind.
“Miss Cecifelia, what kind of person is the duke coming to the mansion tomorrow?”
“They’re serious, but they have a strong will… I was originally unsure if I should have you join the dinner with them, but when they brought it up themselves, I was surprised. I wonder what’s gotten into them.”
She was unsure if it was a good idea to have me join…?
…That phrase caught my attention, but there was no point in dwelling on it now. For the time being, I just hoped that tomorrow’s dinner would go smoothly and decided to get some sleep.
And then—on the following day, around noon.
It was finally time for the dinner between Cecifelia and the duke. When I entered the dining room, I stood behind Cecifelia as she sat at the table, which was already set with dishes.
“…”
Getting a chance to observe a dinner between two dukes of the Elenorde Empire was nothing but beneficial to me, so I waited quietly, curious about who would show up. Then, a knock came at the dining room door.
“Milady, they have arrived.”
“Let them in.”
At Cecifelia’s words, a maid from the Cecifelia ducal house entered the dining room… and following her—
“…Huh?”
Behind the maid, a woman appeared—her long, silky pink hair, beautiful features, and elegant aura instantly recognizable. It was Celestine.
With a gentle smile, Celestine turned toward us and spoke.
“Lady Claire, Sir Luke… it’s a pleasure to be here today.”
This dinner had been planned long before I ever met Celestine, so I’d like to believe that no strange topics involving me would come up… but I suddenly remembered something Celestine had said before—
“I’m not fond of using the slave system, but even so, I’ve decided it’s better to have you by my side. So, I plan to use it to purchase you.”
“The fact that Lady Claire, who has never shown interest in buying slaves, spent ten million gold to win you means that, just like me, she saw something special in you! That makes it even harder for me to let you go.”
“Why don’t we make this talk of a fiancé candidate something real, rather than a temporary or false arrangement?”
Recalling Celestine’s words made me feel like this dinner was going to be nothing but trouble for me.
But, after all, it’s just a feeling—nothing certain.
So, I could only hope that this bad feeling was just that, and that the dinner would pass peacefully.
