Chapter 27: “The Best Shot”
As my unease cleared, I stared intently at Kana, who was standing in front of me.
“Popcorn, churros, turkey legs… You’ve bought a lot.” Both of her hands were full of purchases, and she was wearing character sunglasses that she hadn’t had on earlier.
“Everything caught my eye, so I couldn’t resist…” Kana stuck out her tongue playfully and patted her head.
“You even bought a popcorn bucket.” “Yeah, it’s a limited-time offer.”
“You’re fully equipped now. You’re the epitome of someone really enjoying themselves.”
“Because I am having fun. So, what do you think? Am I cute?” Kana struck a pose, leaning forward with her arms spread wide.
“Too cute.” I responded immediately.
This was the ideal image of a girlfriend on an amusement park date. Innocently enjoying herself and wearing all that merchandise—she was the epitome of cuteness.
The popcorn bucket hanging from her neck really hit my sweet spot. This was the best version of Kana I could ever see in this place. I’d better etch this memory into my mind before we leave.
“Guess what, I bought a matching bucket and sunglasses for you too,” she said, pulling out items from the bag next to the bench. They were different colors but identical to what she had.
“I get it now.” “Even the churros are in different colors—two of everything. We’re going to be a couple on this bench.”
Kana grinned. “Were we always such a silly couple?”
“Stop saying ‘silly couple’! We’re just making memories!” “Anyone looking would definitely think we are…”
“Shut up! Do you want to take pictures or not?” She tilted her head and asked me, though the answer was obvious.
I grabbed her phone, which she had already prepared on the front-facing camera, and took a selfie at a 45-degree angle.
“Hey! Don’t just snap the photo like that! I wasn’t ready!” “I took it from a flattering angle, didn’t I?”
“That’s not the point! There are things like my hair and how I’m holding stuff!”
“It doesn’t make a difference.” “It does make a difference! Plus, it definitely didn’t come out cute…”
She turned away with a huff and took back her phone from me. I expected her to delete the photo without a second thought, but instead, she froze, staring at the screen.
“What’s wrong? Was it that bad?” I smiled wryly.
“No… it’s the opposite. It’s amazing… I’m even surprised myself.”
Her eyes sparkled. “Really? Let me see.”
Curious about the picture Kana was raving about, I peeked at the phone from the side.
I thought she was just saying that because the picture turned out better than she expected, but I was wrong.
The photo had a slight blur, which captured the lively atmosphere of the moment.
Our expressions weren’t posed; if anything, they were closer to goofy.
But out of all the photos we took today, this one showed us having the most fun.
