“Yesterday, I forgot to return the key I borrowed by chance.”

I do remember that I gave her the key when my mother came over yesterday and asked her to leave while my mother was here.

When I was about to get the keys back from her, I stopped midway for a moment.

Come to think of it, every time Yuki comes to my house to fulfill the contract where she will act as my exclusive maid, I have to always open the door for her to enter my apartment. She has been making breakfast for me almost every day lately, and even when she delivers a Tupperware container of food, she rings the chime. There are times when she can come in just a few seconds after ringing the chime, and there are times when I’m in the bathroom, so she has to wait for sometime. Though I don’t make her wait for a long time, those short times add up to a considerable amount of time.

It’s not gentlemanly to make a woman wait at the front door. Besides, to be honest, going to the hallway to open the front door is really tiring.

“Why don’t you keep the spare key, Yuki?”

“Huh?”

Yuki was left a little baffled as she didn’t expect me to hand her the spare keys of my apartment.

“That’s…”

I don’t think it’s just a play on words. I somehow understand that it was just a word that slipped out naturally.

Yuki withdrew her hand and put the key to my room in her skirt’s pocket.

“By the way, it seems like it’s going to be a little chilly today.”

“Is that so?”

I guess that was the reason why she was wearing a blazer in the first place when it is relatively hot but the sudden change in the weather was something I also expected the least. Though it was not bad at all.

“Akira-kun’s blazer is ironed and is currently in my room, what do you want to do with it?”

I had forgotten that Yuki had ironed it together with hers yesterday. I had already thanked her for her kindness and said,

“I guess, I will also wear the blazer today?”

“Okay, I’ll go get it for you.”

Saying that, Yuki left my room from where she had just come in. It’s a moment of regret that she came all the way here, but it didn’t last long. She quickly came back with my blazer. She is surprisingly fast in doing these things, as expected of a maid, I guess?

The blazer handed to me was crisp and clean, reminding me of the entrance ceremony. It was the cleanest blazer I had seen since my first year. As I received it, Yuki reached out her hand and gave me something too.

What was handed to me was a key to her house. It was the same shape as the key to my apartment. I wondered if she wanted it returned on a later time, but before I could ask her why she was giving me the keys to her apartment she beated me to it and said,

“It’s the key to my room.”

“Huh? Why?”

I questioned her in a strange voice after suddenly receiving a key from a girl.

“I am borrowing Akira-kun’s keys too, then doesn’t it make sense for me to give you spare keys for my apartment too, right?”

“Is that so?”

“Yes, it is.”

I retorted and told her about the downside of giving a male stranger the keys to her apartment

“Are you sure about this? Don’t you think I might do something mischievous?”

Like doing something while she was all alone and sleeping on her bed. Did she not consider these things?

“I trust you. I know you won’t do anything like that.”

Furthermore, she blushed and muttered,

“And besides… Even if Akira-kun did something mischievous to me, I can still forgive him… After all, Akira-kun is my master~!”

“Huh?”

“If you give the keys to the maid, the maid will also give the keys to the master in exchange! That’s only natural! It’s the right thing to do! I don’t need to explain anymore! It’s over! Now hurry up and take the keys already!”

She said that and half-forced the keys into my hand.

“Come on, come on. I’ll make breakfast for you as usual.”

She said that and passed by me in the direction where the kitchen was as usual.

Well, I had no intention to abuse it, so I’ll just hold on to it till the time when I’ll have its use.
