- Chapter 3 - Exclusive maid declaration [Part 1]
The first bell after the summer break has stopped ringing. Therefore, there is no sign of either students or teachers in the hallway.
Walking down the hallway, made of a material that is unclear whether it is marble or something else, in red slippers. They are color-coded by grade, and second-year students are designated as red. One grade above is blue, and one grade below is green, but no matter what color it is, these slippers would still be appropriately called toilet slippers.
Despite wearing such slippers, why does the student council president, Yuki Ohira, look like she is wearing some high-branded ones when she wears them? Does she have a special ability to make things beautiful? I am honestly led along while looking at her slippers, which are not the same as mine and can not be imagined.
Every time her long silver hair sways, a sweet scent wafts each time in the air, and I was lured to her sweet honey-like smell, just like a bee. The student council room was on the fourth floor while my classroom was on the third floor, which is just a few seconds away on foot.
Since the special classrooms are lined up here, there are no students or teachers in this area, like on the third floor, at this time just after the summer break. In fact, being here at this time is suspicious, and it might be seen as suspicious behavior if someone else saw me and Yuki here.
Apparently, Yuki doesn’t think of such things as she takes out the key from her pocket with a familiar gesture and opens the door to the student council room.
With a rattling sound, the door to the student council room opened up, it looked like the construction material for the door was poor.
This is my first time coming here. I am not a student council member nor have I ever run for office, just a normal student. There should be no reason for someone like me to have business with the student council, and there should be many students like me. While feeling like I am having a rare experience, I followed the extremely polite instructions from Yuki, who seems like a watchful guardian, and entered the student council room.
I experienced giving a supportive speech for a friend who was a member of the student council in middle school, and I have once entered the student council room of the middle school. At that time, the student council room of the high school was a little different from the one I saw when I was still in middle school.
It looked like a reception room, with two sofas facing each other and a center table in the middle. Next to it, three desks faced each other in a triangle. On the other side is a large desk for one person, with a chair that looks like a president or someone in a high position sits on it.
The three desks belong to the vice president of the student council, secretary, accountant, and the large desk is easily guessed to be the president of the student council.
On the desk that should belong to the student council president, there are neatly placed piles of paper documents, but a few of them seem to have flown away with the wind, as few of them can be seen fallen on the floor.
The sound of a lock being turned is heard from behind.
‘Wait, what’s with the lock?’ Before asking that question, I involuntarily gulp down my saliva.
Instead of asking questions, I’m worried about what will happen to me from now on.
I haven’t talked much with my classmate, the student council president, also known as the Fairy Queen Titania, Yuki Ohira. She always seems busy, and because of the overwhelming difference in appearance, I hesitate to even speak to her. It’s not a lie to say that I don’t want to be friends with her because she’s beautiful, but I don’t necessarily feel the need to be friends with her by force. From her perspective, I’m just a regular student and she doesn’t recognize me as a person with the same interests and goals.
It is certain that the first thing she did after the summer vacation was to approach me as I caught her distributing the advertising flyers of the maid cafe she works in.
At our school, work is prohibited except for special reasons. Even if it is specially permitted, extreme work is not allowed.
Whether working at a maid cafe is considered to be extreme or not is a matter of personal opinion, but from the school’s perspective, it will likely be judged as extreme.
If it is found out, the work will be forced to stop, and suspension from school is certain.
Even if she is working, there must be some unavoidable circumstances, but I am not that interested in her circumstances.
I coincidentally found out that she was working while wearing a maid’s uniform.
Let’s keep quiet for a while and listen to what she says.
That will be the correct way to judge her intentions for calling me out so abruptly.
“Morigami-kun…”
She slowly approached me. Just as I thought, she passed by me and picked up the documents that had fallen near the desk, and placed them properly on top of the pile of documents.
“Y-yes…”
Even though summer is over, the sun is still shining brightly. Looking back slowly while basking in the sun coming through the window, I feel scared.
What is going to happen from now on?
The opponent is the popular student council president. Even if threatened by her, who has no enemies, it will be almost impossible to refuse.
“Please!”
With words that were forcefully released, she lowered her head in a hurry.
“Please keep my part-time job at the maid cafe a secret!”
Stunned by her request made with the utmost respect, I simply replied, “Uh… okay.”
Since she tends to talk down to people, it took me a little time to understand the situation.
She is a popular student council president among both students and teachers.
I was prepared for a line like, “If you tell anyone what you saw that day, I’ll make you disappear,” but I have been worrying for nothing.
“I can’t quit my part-time job at the maid cafe. Please, please keep it a secret,” she implored.
“Well… um…” I stammered, unable to show any other attitude but confusion.
Still, I was in another room being asked to keep a secret just as school started back up. I had forgotten about it and the answer was already decided.
“Oh, I don’t plan on telling anyone,” I replied.
Everyone has secrets, and I understand that if it was leaked, it would be painful and cause worry.
She must have been worried that I might have told someone over the past few days. I tried to respond kindly and carefully, with the intention of comforting her feelings.
“Relax, okay?” I said with a warm voice.
But she didn’t believed in my kind words…
“No… I can’t trust you,” she retorted.
The next moment, she pressed her face close to mine and looked up at me with a worried look in her eyes.
“You’re just trying to make me feel better with sweet words, but you have no intention of keeping it a secret, do you? That’s what it is, isn’t it?!” she accused.
“No, wait, stop!” I exclaimed.
Aahh, she is too close and she smells too good. It’s a unique girl’s scent. The sweet smell combined with the humid air in the student council room that doesn’t have air conditioning made my head dizzy.
“What is it!? What do you want?! Tell me! Come on, come on!”
“Wait, wait hold your horses.”
