- Chapter 13 - Conclusion of the contract
After finishing the Omurice together, Yuki Ohira washed the dishes in the kitchen and after she was done, she sat straight in front of me.
“Well, let’s get to the point.”
It was 14:14 and about two hours had passed since Yuki Ohira had arrived. Originally, we had something to talk about, but it seemed to have taken a detour through cleaning up my dirty room and cooking lunch for me. Finally, we were able to get to the point.
“Before that, you didn’t talk about me to Konoe-kun during the opening ceremony, did you?”
“I already told you, I didn’t say anything.”
I was asked again, but since I had nothing to hide, I answered immediately.
She had doubted me in the hallway at school, but seemed to understand and accepted my answer, even though she was still a bit dissatisfied.
“I’m sorry. Now, back to the main topic. What does a personal maid do?”
I tilted my head in confusion at her question.
“If I were told to take care of Morigami-kun all day, I would negotiate, but…”
“No, you have school and a part-time job too. I won’t make such an unreasonable request.”
“You’re right. Then, what is the scope of what I should do?”
“What do you mean by scope?”
She was a very serious person. She was indeed the student council president.
“Just do whatever you think is appropriate.”
“If I do that, it might be said that our contract is just a formality and I might be told ‘I’ll just tell your secret in a casual way since our contract was casual from the beginning.’ Therefore, I’ll decide on a specific scope and act according to that. This way, you can also keep your end of the contract.”
She was not only serious, but also very conscientious.
I regretted saying something inappropriate to this serious student council president.
“If that’s the case, well, it would be nice if you could do something like today when Ohira has free time.”
“Are you talking about household chores?”
“Yeah. As you can see, I have zero housework skills.”
“Yes, I can see that.”
“So, if the Student Council has free time, or if you have a day off from your part-time job, just let me know then. Actually, that would be the best time.”
It was a proposal for me to have a dedicated maid. It would be like a dream to have such a beautiful girl come to my house every day and do housework for me, but it would be considerate of her, so it would be better if she came when she had free time. Plus, our houses are right next to each other, so there is hardly any travel time. So, that would be the best for both of us.
“I understand. So, is it okay when my hands are free?”
“No problem.”
“Okay, the contract is established. If you happen to spill my secret…”
“I know that you can put a period on me because you took care of me all day. I won’t do anything stupid like that.”
“I don’t know. You’re really stupid.”
“Whatever.”
For the time being she seemed satisfied and agreed on the terms on which she will act as my exclusive maid.
“Well then, I’ll take my leave.”
“Okay.”
I stood up too and called out to Yuki Ohira as she opened the door and left my apartment room.
“Thank you for today.”
“It’s a contract, so…”
Well, it’s not like Yuki Ohira is doing me a favor by taking care of me. She did it under the condition of not revealing her secret, so her cold reaction is understandable.
“Still, thank you. I’m the type to say thank you even to convenience store clerks.”
“I see. Well then, I’ll take my leave.”
The mini-skirted maid left my room with a casual remark.
I turned around and looked into the room beyond the door that was opened in the hallway.
The room was now incredibly tidy compared to how it was when I woke up in the morning, to the point where I doubted if it was really my room.
When I returned to my room, I noticed my smartphone on the kotatsu table where a lot of garbage was piled up in the morning, dancing around.
I picked up the phone that was displaying the name of the caller, Shogo Konoe. I pressed the answer button and heard his voice from the other side.
“Yo!”
“Hey, Akira. Are you up for lunch?”
“Ah…”
I had completely forgotten.
“Sorry, Shogo. I already had lunch.”
“What?! We always have lunch together on days like this!”
“I’m sorry! I’ll treat you to McDonald’s next time!”
“Okay, I forgive you.”
It’s a relief to have a friend who’s easy to please with a meal at the big chain store, McDonald’s.
“By the way, what did you have for lunch?”
“Omelette rice.”
“What? Akira eating something fancy like that… Wait, do you have a girlfriend or something?”
“No way.”
“Well, you never know. You’re too dense. If you do get a girlfriend, let me know.”
“It’s not like that.”
As expected, I couldn’t say that I have a personal maid.
“Anyway, I’m sorry for today.”
As I was about to hang up, he brought up another topic.
“Did you receive a message from Yoshiki about LOIN?”
“Yoshiki? Oh yeah, I did see his message. Come to think of it, I haven’t looked at the content yet. Did you also receive a message?”
“Yeah, he called me and asked me to come to our school’s cultural festival with him. Probably the same content as yours.”
“Hmm, interesting. The star of the Koshien is coming to a commoner’s school like ours.”
“Even if he becomes a professional player or an idol, our relationship won’t change.”
“Haha, that’s right.”
With a dry laugh, I affirmed his words.
“So, do you know when the cultural festival is?”
“I’m not sure of the exact date either.”
“Should we ask Ohira?”
“Ohira? Come to think of it, you were talking to Ohira today too, right?”
Oh no, since I was just talking to her moments ago, her name unconsciously came up.
“Is it possible that you were eating Omurice with Ohira-san?”
Even though he is usually stupid, he has a sharp intuition at times like this.
“No, that’s not the case. As the student council president she must be aware of the situation, so it is better to talk about it to her.”
“I see…..”
Satisfied with the reasoning, I managed to avoid a potentially awkward situation, I then said goodbye to Shogo and slumped down on the bed.
“I should be careful not to accidentally mention Ohira’s name too much. It might slip out at a really bad time.”
Reflecting on the conversation earlier, I layed down on the bed and killed time by fiddling with my smartphone.
